"we were on holiday near to Belford and i'd read good reports about Well House and so, on a wet Saturday afternoon we walked through the door and received a very friendly greeting.we were shown to a table and we ordered our lunch, i had home made cottage pie with fresh veg, mt wife ordered a bacon and brie pannini and along with tea and coffee, Both Refilled free and a large portion of home made Lemon Meringue pie and cream, we enjoyed and belly filling lunch and all at a very, very reasonable price.I can highly recommend this place for we were welcomed with open arms."

"The Siu Yuk belly pork starter at this restaurant is disappointing. I have ordered it four times and only the first time was good; every other time it was burnt like charcoal. Despite informing the staff about my past experiences, they did not offer any compensation or solution. Even though I live nearby, I was still charged £5 for delivery, which was not what was advertised. Unfortunately, my latest order was once again overcooked and burnt. It's a shame, but I will be looking for a new Chinese restaurant to order from in the future."

"My husband and I always look for somewhere to eat that serves good food and this little café did just that. It was lunchtime, however, my husband had the Scottish breakfast, which completely filled him up for the rest of the day. Freshly cooked, well presented with a jovial side of sarcastic wit from the delightful chap serving behind the counter. Egg, bacon, sausage, tons of mushrooms, beans, haggis, black pudding, toast, and above all, filter coffee, which you can’t really find these days – it usually comes out of a machine. That got an extra star from my husband. I had a tuna fish sandwich, and was happily indulged with red onion on top. This came with a healthy side of coleslaw, a little salad, and a big handful of Doritos style chips. I would have preferred ordinary crisps, but this is just a personal choice. I certainly wouldn’t criticise anybody for this. I had a cappuccino which was served really hot and tasted delicious. We left via the beer garden at the back, having discovered it when I used the bathroom. We will definitely go back for an evening meal and sit outside when the weather allows. As we were heading towards the car park, a couple asked us for directions and we pointed them towards the beach via this café. I hope they took us up on our suggestion."

"The place to eat cafe offerings lacks the quality expected from the John Lewis brand. We had popped in for bit brunch, but never again. The breakfast we ordered was poor, mostly felt warned up and lacked any really quality. Sadly the worst part was the poached eggs. The first offering was a tiny wee sad looking poached egg on piece of sourdough bread surrounded in random seeds. We asked for a softer egg, which the polite staff did attempt but sadly the second offering was not much better, 2 eggs both slightly runnier but tasted awful. We were warned the eggs are not prepared fresh onsite and the condition is outside if the staff control, not sure how that works, sadly the result is extremely poor. Only a fried egg is prepared fresh onsite. Why offer something of such poor quality, Avoid the poached eggs!"

"This is the best takeaway I have had in Buckle by far. I ordered a special curry and special roasted rice, both of which had generous portions of meat and were piping hot. The customer service was outstanding and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Thank you for another excellent meal, Mei Mei!"

"read that the food was good and they did a big breakfast so i found it ok. car park gets full pretty quick. ordered the biggest breakfast £11.50 which was good value for what you get...3 of everything. food was amazing. NOW the bad news service is attricious after waiting for 20 mins and watching the staff walking around doing nothing I went to the cashier and told her that waiting 20 for breakfast when all the food was already there in containers was a joke and i made sure everybody in the cafe heard me.. amazingly withing 2 mins i was served a delicious breakfast. so simply put put food great service **** !!"

"Extremely disappointed to have bought a caramel shortbread from the counter in the Post Office Shop (which were strangely covered up with tin foil even though I asked for cakes to be uncovered so I could choose what I wanted). Got the bag home (many miles away) to discover its is covered in nuts?!? I have never known caramel shortbread to have nuts on it and have never before had to buy something without seeing it because the person serving wouldn’t uncover it. Had I seen it had nuts on it I wouldn’t have bought it so I’ve unnecessarily wasted my money on a not inexpensive cake. It also doesn’t bode well for anyone with a severe nut allergy."

"We visited Phil You Up after reading reviews online and am sad that we’ve left it this longer to finally try them out. The wait for reasonable and I noticed that people were turning up having pre-ordered which seemed like a great idea. I had the chicken masala wrap as a meal deal. The wrap was delicious and a generous size filled with salad. The chips were well cooked and it good quality. Nice and hot. Staff were friendly throughout. I would thorough recommend Phil You Up for a quick lunch on the go or a cheeky takeaway when you just don’t fancy cooking. Very tasty"

"Used to stop here for the great bacon rolls. Previous stop realised that they had changed the bacon, not so streaky and fattier so decided to ask for poached eggs on brown toast. Waited for some time and eventually served at the table with brown bread resembling cardboard and 2 hard boiled , but supposedly poached eggs! Spoke to a young lady who was table serving and asked who would have carried out the “poaching ” which she admitted being responsible. It was pointed out to her that poached eggs should not be hard boiled and that we were very disappointed. She offered to get the manager to come and see us. Few minutes later a young man came through and immediately accused us of being nasty to the lady. He was advised that we were perfectly within our rights to point out the failing and in no way had we been nasty. At this point the lady came over, had obviously been crying, and was asked by us if we had been nasty to which she replied no and apologised. The young man was advised that if he wished to speak to his customers he should get the facts straight before making such accusations. He was also asked where the manager was and replied that he was busy in the kitchen so wasn’t coming out to speak to us. The restaurant at this time was almost empty. It was pointed out that this was a terrible lack of appreciation to his customers and we left. It was also observed that on several occasions the young lads that were carrying through plates with buns there on were holding the buns on the plate with their fingers, total lack of hygiene. Won’t be back!"

"visited here 27/9 it was late 2.30 and she closed around 3.00 questioned suppe, but was only available tea, coffee and tablet bakery. I was tried by the short brot, I shouldn't have been that there were two fingers of walkers wrapped in plastic around 2.60. The...cheek started cleaning the table with about five minutes. we got the note and went to pay, only then came three types not carrying masks looking for food, just to say that they could only get suppe and a sandwich. we are not coming back. charlie"

"Went for a breakfast , we asked if they did rolls on square sausage , we were told yes, so we ordered two. The lady asked if we would like large rolls so we agreed . My tea came in a chipped mug which was replaced at my request. The large rolls arrived about 7 in circumference with 3 slice of the cheapest rusk filled sausage I have ever had the misfortune to eat or not as it turned out !"

"Be careful you do not get a thick fried chip in your coffee! My brother didn’t like to complain that his coffee tasted a bit off. However having chocked on greasy chip while drinking his latte, it was clear a complaint would have to be made. Yes staff were full of apologies but there was no offer of the latte being free. I had to tell them I was not paying for the latte before it was agreed. It was their mistake, not mine. Then some older staff member got involved and the reason I’m writing this review why she felt she needed to get involved is beyond me … She made cheeky comments about me writing a review and that it was just a “mistake” Again, your mistake, not mine! "Have previously had a good experience here when it was a little quieter. The way the cafe works needs to be reviewed. When it’s busy the rule is ‘find a clean table before ordering’ but when it’s busy this just results in people hovering over tables waiting to be cleaned which is not a nice experience for customers or for members of staff who can have customers hounding them and standing over them to clear a table. It also results in customers having to compete for tables and quite often means people getting annoyed at each other, which is never a great start to an experience. I witnessed some less able customers losing out on tables because others were able to rush to an empty table before them. It’s not really a problem you should have as a customer. ‘It’s been like this for X amount of time and has worked’ isn’t an excuse when it could easily be made a more stress free and enjoyable experience. Why not have a ‘please wait to be seated’ sign where a staff member can guide customers to a cleared table, pop down some menus and then ask them to order at the counter? There are multiple ways it could be improved with very little overhead. I really like the cafe and the staff, please just improve your seating process!"

"I enjoyed many lunches here in the past and our go to place for lunch when in the town centre but I was very disappointed with the service on our recent visit. We waited nearly 20 minutes on a seat which can happen when its busy but what was annoying was there were 3 tables lying empty when we joined the queue. It was one of these 3 tables that we were given 20 minutes later. There were 4 people also waiting in front of us in the queue and they didnt get a table until after we had finished our meal. They waited 45-50 minutes during which time many tables for 2 were seated. They could have planned it better and joined a couple of those tables for 2 to seat the party of 4 but the young man that had been left to deal with it looked new. The young lady in charge told them she had not realised they had been waiting so long. Even though the young guy dealing with the seating had asked her for help only to be snapped I cant make tables As I left I overheard the young lady in charge say to one of here team. It wouldn 't have been me waiting 45 minutes for just a cheese and ham toastie . This person was also quite rude in here comments to most of her staff as well constantly sniping at them and causing a very unpleasant atmosphere. The couple at the table next to us also commented several times about her attitude. As usual the food was good (except please change the chips back to the old ones they were much nicer) but I would consider trying one of the other restaurants now just because of the service and atmosphere being tense. Also asked for the bill but gave up waiting after 5-10 minutes and went up and stood in a queue at the till to pay with the other customers who had got fed up waiting on the bill."
