"I absolutely love By the River Brew Co and Dabbawall in Jesmond, but my experience at “Kebabs, Wraps Curries by Dabbawal” was disappointing. The smashed lamb burger I ordered, which cost over £10, was small and took a long time to arrive. The taste was okay, but the burger and the handful of fries in garlic sauce were lukewarm. The overall quality did not match the price. It seemed that the restaurant was preoccupied with a digital marketing event, which may have affected the service and menu offerings. I brought friends from Scotland who I had recommended the place to, and I felt embarrassed for suggesting it. It was a really disappointing night."

I think this was the best sandwich I ever ate... Really busy, but friendly staff, served in good time. Great location. Didn't need to use an app to order, went to counter. Nice work everyone :

I had the chicken tikka sandwich and my girlfriend had the curried chickpea sandwich, both were absolutely delicious and the manager, Rupert, was very welcoming and friendly, letting us sample one of the lovely cakes too. Would definitely recommend. View menu

Serves locally brewed beer from the Wylam brewery no longer brewed on site) at £5-6 a pint it’s not cheap but as it’s our first brewpub of the day it may prove to be the going rate! Nice seating area inside , restaurant and seating outside overlooking the river plastic glasses) friendly staff. Good beer.

The location is ideal, with plenty of seating and the option to order from your table using a QR code. The selection of beers is impressive and the food is delicious. While it may be a bit expensive, it's understandable given its proximity to the river. The staff were attentive and friendly. Despite being very busy, our food arrived promptly, just 10 minutes after ordering.

Forced to pay a tip. The street food place underneath the Tyne Bridge is great but.. You have to use the QR code to order food. You have to okay online. If you have not downloaded the the app you have to do it there. You register your card in an insecure place. You then have to pay an admin fee and must pay a tip. Tips are supposed to be voluntary for exceptional not everyday service. View menu

My daughter and I visited Knead and Flavour early on a Sunday morning. I ordered toast for her and requested it be served first so she could start eating. However, the unfriendly waitress failed to communicate my request to the kitchen. We waited 20-25 minutes and received a sausage sandwich before the toast. The service was very poor and the staff were unhelpful. Despite being the only customers, it took 15 minutes to receive our coffees. We used to enjoy this place, but we will not be coming back.

I went into the Brewery during a visit to Newcastle at around 5pm on a weekday. I wasn't sure if I was in the brewery or a restaurant and asked a member of staff who informed me that I should sit outside and order via an app as the restaurant would soon be opening. I don't own a smartphone and told her this, and then she told me I could order at the bar which was grand. But a pint cost me £7.00. Today, I got a pint of IPA in for under £4 from a craft brewery further north, and I am wondering why By the River are charging so much for IPA? I enjoyed sitting outside by the fire, but paying that price I would not be tempted to return.

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
