"asace was the region that decided to celebrate our family, christmas and our inheritance. so we stayed in a wonderful apartment directly opposite the tavern restaurant called "caveau chez bacchus" translated into the "cellar in bacchus". as we were such a big group, it was necessary to make reservations, and we were glad that we did. we have the reservation for pm and were the first arrivals. Once we were found and our menu selection was made within minutes, our meals were ready and the restaurant was packed. the walk-ins were there because no table or seat was left. the menu has a nice selection of products from fish, bark meat, pork and seasonal meat such as brain, escargot, etc. winged was not in the menu. we had children of up to years who had good choices. the meals were beautifully presented and very tasteful. service was wonderful, friendly and accommodating. the price was more than reasonable considering that we had appertifs, main course, wine, drinks and desert. the bill came to euros with average euro per person. the ambiente is warm cozy rustic with marionettes entertaining children and adult. we enjoyed it so much that we returned during our stay in katzenthal for a second night. our second culinary experience has attracted the first. they cannot go wrong at ‘Caveau chez Bacchus’."

We spent our Christmas party in the cellar and were well served by competent staff.

Very good address for Alsatian specialties. This has been unanimously in our group, no disappointment, all is served with generous shares.

A dark room, with a nice ambiance. Hearty, traditional food and lots of taste. Speedy service, and friendly staff. I missed the little extra from the food. Maybe a slightly different lighting would have warmed up the room more.

I think bacchus is the place where they have tried all the restaurants in kb (good or less) as a tourist. no tourist, cozy place, surprising show of marionnettes, and really good baeckeoffa. also friendly service. katzenthal is less septic than kb. but it deserves a visit with its old fortification in a sea of weeping mountains. I'll go to bacchus next time.

this is the true Alsatian cuisine, made with fresh and local products. her chouc route is to die, her backeoff is delicious, the jarret braisé melts in mouth. the owner is a very nice person who is always willing to explain their kitchen, and she. also makes good advice. enjoy at least one meal there, they will not be disappointed. it became our favorite place for good eating at a very cheap price (in contrast to colmar close).

as it was raining when we were ready to dinner at our first night in katzenthal, we decided for the next two restaurants in the village, and we liked it so much that we came back the next night! very good eating to...appropriate trips cure menu for quaint puppenshow (four animals play musical instruments). the dog of the owners, a friendly jack russell terrier, became a constant visitor on our table. the baeckaoffa (a traditional Alsatian stew, pork and lamb in a white wine grinder) is a must!

Located about minutes from Colmar, this restaurant is way worth the detour. The village of Katzenthal is beautiful and has superb views of the plaine of the Rhine River and the vineyard of Alsace. Angele, the owner of Caveau Bacchus, is the perfect hostess....She makes sure that everything is perfect. During your meal, you will enjoy the ambiance of being served in an old cellar with stain glass windows. I recommend the Alsacian pizza, the daily specials, the wine selection. The menu choices are extensive. I have been to Caveau Bacchus at least two dozen times and have never been disappointed.
