"beautiful pub with light garish led fee lighter everywhere. beautiful lady at the bar served us drinks. but if the renter appeared and seemed to refuse us, as she put more hard feenlichter on our table. missed the next opportunity to go as garnished in semi-translucent pink gloop, who wanted to be a Marie-Rosen sauce, looked strange. was very hungry, so ate it and the starter of the partner was good. perfectly acceptable burger and chips for net, but pulled more disapproval from the renter to not eat the gf bungalow. could have run a night? but will not hurry to come back."

"Reserved a table online earlier in the day for dinner when staying at a nearby hotel. Arrived to a warm welcome. Was seated near the fire and picked the sirloin steak from the menu, and the crumble with custard for pudding. I am not kidding when I say the steak was AMAZING! The best I’ve ever tasted. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Enjoyed the salad it came with. The crumble was lovely too. The customer service was excellent, we were made to feel very welcome. This place has set the bar very high, if you’re debating going, I’d highly recommend. I just wish I lived closer so I could visit more often!"

"My disappointment in this place was heightened by the fact that, as a rural and isolated hotel, I believe it has a special duty (above other hotels in busier areas) to provide somewhere decent to eat. It failed in this.I can 't give this place one star because it wasn 't 'terrible ' but it wasn 't much above that. Large metal buffet trays had been left on the side of the restaurant entrance and a flustered staff member was anxiously telling people that there may not be any tables when the restaurant was not even half full.The waiting staff were largely quite young, polite and well intentioned. They could probably do with a little more training, though our waiter spent 4 5 minutes attempting to extract the cork from our bottle before taking it into the kitchen and trying there. We received our wine soon after.At all times I was painfully aware I was eating in a hotel breakfast room.The food was really disappointing. A smell of service station roast chicken was everywhere. In the end we went for the 'freshly charcoal grilled sirloin steak ' or whatever the wording was. Our reward was a thin, uninspiring sliver of steak with some half decent chips but a poor, watery bearnaise. The steak seemed like minute steak to us and v. expensive at £20+.The wine list also seemed very expensive I can 't recall seeing a bottle for under £30.In the end, our 2 course dinner with wine here was more expensive than our 3 course lunch with wine earlier that day at the Chesil Rectory in Winchester, which was excellent.I would suggest this place hires a couple of chefs to change its direction how about some dishes using ingredients from the nearby farms? Less frozen, ready made stuff and more homemade even if simple fare."

"We were not even offered a hot drink like tea or coffee, and when we attempted to get updates, the staff walked past our table without any acknowledgment. After waiting for about 15 minutes, we finally had to ask for assistance again. All the cakes and pastries served were store-bought, and the cream for the desserts came from a spray can. When a plate of mint cake arrived, it was placed down rather abruptly, and we still had to inquire about the rest of the sweet treats and sandwiches. Another half hour went by before a plate of sandwiches was finally brought out, most of which were not even mentioned on the festive menu. The ham and chutney sandwich was particularly disappointing, and the brie and cranberry was actually goat cheese, creating an extremely unpleasant combination. I expressed my concerns to a staff member, who offered a 50% discount, which still seemed unreasonable given that there were six of us and we had paid £35 each. Paying £105 for such cheap, shop-bought food and poor service was unacceptable. Reiterating these issues to the staff did not seem to register how bad the experience was. Furthermore, the restaurant's atmosphere resembled that of a conference room in a two-star hotel rather than a four-star wellness venue. It was utterly disappointing, and I certainly do not plan to return or recommend this place to anyone."
