"We have been eating here on many occasions and have never been disappointed. The menu is large enough to suit most taste buds but small enough, that you dont need an hour to go through it. They make several different types of schnitzels, that are...quite tasty. Steaks and fisch are equally good. They also have wild game on their menu. The sides are great and the salads fresh. Service with a smile, very accomodating. Several different wines and beers to choose from. I cannot say much about the dessert. I never made it that far. Too full from the main course and half of my mothernlaws plate, because it was too much for her. They do serve portions for Seniors, by the way. Parking near by. The gast haus is divided into an up and downstairs. The stairs leading upwards are steep. Not the best for those with walking handicaps or those confined to a wheelchair. I suggest reserving a table during rush hours and ecspecially sunday's, to be sure to get a table downstairs. Reservations are also a good idea for family's or larger groups, ecspecially on sunday's. Check this place out. It's got history"

Very impressed with atmosphere, menu and service. The schnitzel with mushroom gravy was fantastic. The real surprise was the green salade,

There is only one thing worse than being served a terrible meal: being served by rude waiters who have no idea just how awful the things they are doing to you are.

Want to go for local food, local style, local wine? The swollen heart is such a place. Not fancy but authentic something that becomes more and more rare. Enjoy the quality wine at reasonable prices from local producers

This is one of the best traditional German restaurants that I have had the pleasure to enjoy. In the fall they specialize in Wild Game Dishes in a traditional German presentation. The wines are excellent to accompany any selection

We were informed well in advance that you need to book a table for an evening, if you want to make sure you actually eat there. So we did it. Very good German cuisine, good choice, nice staff and good atmosphere. Every time we visit...Bingen, we go there. Highly recommended!

Small restaurant offering basic dishes at reasonable prices. Nothing exciting, though. Oldfashioned, worn interior. Not the most flexible kitchen. I had a plate of pasta, for instance, and the restaurant was unable to provide Parmesan or any other kind of cheese to go with it

Hai dinner on one rainy evening. The food was better than expected. The Riesling potato soup wasn't out of the ordinary, but the mushroom soup was delicious. For the main course we had schnitzel with mushrooms sauce big portion and one with pepper sauce also...a big portion and very interesting turkey with fruity curry sauce which I recommend. The check was euros for these dishes and a bottle of wine. Overall it was a good and affordable meal for

My husband and I had dinner here and we were looking for some good German food. We ordered the pork schnitzel with a mushroom cream sauce and spaetzle and a grilled pork steak with grilled onions, mushrooms, and bacon. Wow! We loved both of them...and they were so tasty. Each came with a salad and a home made dressing that was wonderful. We sat outside on a beautiful evening and the service was great. The waitress spoke English and was very friendly. I highly recommend this place

My son and I were staying across the Rhine in Rudesheim but decided to eat in Bingen before taking the ferry back, This proved a good decision as we enjoyed the best dinner of our night visit to Germany in Zum geschwollenes Herz. The...menu which is available in English included some more imaginative items than other restaurants, though still very much 'traditional German cuisine' in nature. The portions were more than adequate and the presentation was good. The girl who served us was extremely pleasant and friendly and was able to explain and offer advice in excellent English. As you'd expect, a selection of local wines were available and at lower prices than elsewhere. The restaurant itsel...
