"New Street Grill is owned by the D&D group, which is a monster entity when it comes to restaurants. D&D stands for Des and David, 2 men who led the buyout of Conran Restaurants in September 2006, and ever since have opened new restaurants and now have 23 restaurants in London, as well as restaurants in Japan, Paris, New York and Denmark. I have looked at all the restaurants they own, and I have been to Almeida, Coq d’Argent, Floridita, Paternoster Chop House and Plateau and I have some bad memories associated with quite a few of these places (for example I went to Floridita for my 22 nd birthday and was rushed out of my table in 1 hour which ended up with me getting drunk and crying as...read more"

I wonder how restaurants come with their names. some seem to point out to their chief owners. others make innuendo the type of food they serve. but others make allusion their location. some, a combination of it. guess how new street grill goes.

The fat was nicely charred, but I found the meat a little chewy. The Heritage tomato salad was refreshing and I really enjoyed the flavours of the different tomatoes. We opted for creamed spinach over steamed and this was delicious, but a pretty small portion. I wish we’d ordered two. The chips were fat and crunchy and fluffy on the inside. As far as chips go, these were amongst the nicest I have had for a while.

It was with trepidation that I arrived, horribly early, at Old Bengal Bar. There was little sign that anything was going to happen, I perched nervously on a bar stool, checking my phone for the arrival of my dance partner. He was running late. Then, a space was cleared, the music fired up and people started to dance. The class itself turned out to be quite informal – a chance to let your hair down, let off steam and learn a few steps. And, we were glad of the rather excellent cocktails at the Old Bengal Bar afterwards!

as a contributor to this fine blog, that is the boozy bunch, I am often asked for recommendations for restaurants that make a good, good quality brunch in london. in the last few years, this eating time has really decreased – it speaks for the trendy, hipster generation, the ladies, the lunch club and those of us who cannot be harassed openly to take us out of bed in time for breakfast. Of course, a bit later eating time is now an even better excuse to combine brunch style menus with the daily drink so much that London restaurants have exploded with a lot of Boozy brunch offers for us cosmopolitan socialists. especially at the weekend it is almost a...read more

What a wonderful idea. Now if the nice people at the New Street Grill and The Old Bengal Bar could just make Sundays go on for ever, I’m sure we’d all be willing to pay them a LOT of money. Failing that, the idea of a lazy Sunday lunch in a comfortable restaurant that has a great outdoor terrace, with unlimited **** Mary Cocktails or champagne and a range of dishes on offer seemed like a great idea to me. I imagine that during the week the New Street Grill and Old Bengal Bar is full of City workers. Just a few minutes from Liverpool Street Station and the Broadgate Centre, it’s the sort of place that is bound to be popular with the boys and girls of the Square Mile when they...read more

Last week, a craving for red meat led my boyfriend and I to New Street Grill for an impromptu Monday night meal. Just off Devonshire Square, this stylish restaurant has a sophisticated-yet-intimate vibe; and with smartly dressed French waiters, exemplary service, and a very impressive wine list , it's a bit more special than your usual steak joint. New Street Grill boasts a very appetising menu , featuring everything from game to seafood, but we were here for steak, so we ignored fought off temptation (roast venison, confit duck leg, lobster macaroni.. and turned our attention to the list of cuts. I opted for the 250g fillet steak 33), and received a thick slab of beautifully...read more

we went on a Saturday to the groundless brunch in new street grill and were overall very satisfied. the service was attentive and very courteous, and they looked out to accommodate everything we needed, what was great. they ensured that our glasses were consistently covered with water and prosecco and gave all the advice we needed on the menu. in terms of eating it was very good in terms of quality, but I thought that the amount really was missing, especially for the net. the appetizers of chorizo Scotch egg and economical with mozzarella and olive oil tasted delicious, but the latter was really tiny in portion. the same went for the net a fish cake with poached ei and a piece grilled...more
