"It was Good Friday.. We reached Schwangau via the scenic B500 route, our night stopover for our next day trip to the fairy tale castle.. and by the time we checked in the hotel it was almost 10 pm.. and we had to had dinner.. Schwangau is a quiet place and by that time the town was almost asleep.. not sure if that was because of Good Friday or it's like that all the time.. anyways we had to have dinner and we started our search.. well, all the places were closed down for the night, almost.. Sclossrestaurant was open but they were serving only drinks till 11 pm.. we went inside a Chinese restaurant but they said they just closed and everything else is closed in the town and we would need to go to Fussen for food which was 3 miles away.. but they were wrong.. there was one place that was still open and that was Pizzeria San Marco.. nice cosy restaurant.. we could not find a table as it was all packed up.. so we ordered takeaway pizzas.. and had a beer while we waited.. the delivery was quick.. staff warm and friendly.. we had the pizzas back at our hotel and the were simply yummy.. we were saved for the night.. thank you pizzeria San Marco"

Well, perhaps you can do better in this town, we chose this one, with a nice outdoor area, and so so food and service.

We popped in here as it was opposite our hotel. The pizza was delicious and huge! Nice bottle of wine. Total cost inc tip €40 so excellent value. Nice cosy atmosphere. Recommend a visit!

My family and I stopped here for a light lunch following our visit to Neuschwanstein Castle. We split a pizza and salad. The pizza and the salad were both cover in oil. For which reason I would say both were distinctly average and nowhere near the best pizza we had on our trip.

We live in Germany and haven't had a better pizza than the pizzas here at Pizzeria San Marco. We love vacationing here near the foot of the Alps and enjoying our favorite pizza place. I'm doting on their pizzas, but their pasta dishes are also superb! if you feel like eating Italian, this is your place! View menu

The outside seating area is set on the road and doesn't look much. However looks can deceive and we dined on a well cooked pizza with plenty of topping. Service was friendly and a number of locals were using the place. Both food and drinks were reasonably priced. It was busy as a number of restaurants close on a Wednesday. Worth a visit.

We had our only bad experience in the Fussen area or ever in an Italian restaurant. After a decent set of main courses , not outstanding but ok the owner asked fleetingly if two other people could sit next to our family!! He then it made it v clear that our table was wanted by other diners... We left promptly ... rude and ignorant. Avoid this place

I'm a gluten free guy and found many wonderful delights here! I started with the tomato. Wed fish soup that was out of this world -- it had a wonderful day huge prawn in the center. Following that we shared a tomato caprese salad that competed with ones I've had in Italy. For the main dish we shared their red fish in Tomato sauce with mozzarella. Yum ! View menu

This is a small, genuine, intimate Italian restaurant staffed by real Italians, serving genuine Italian cusine, beer and wine. We enjoyed our 1st visit so much we eat here on the next 2 nights as well. The salad starters ranging from 8.50 - 10 euros are to die for! Pizzas start at 8.50 euros and are a good 12" in diameter. We found that a salad starter and half a pizza each was more than enough. The spagetti dishes were also excellent and at less than 10 euros well worth it.

Consistent over many years, San Marco provides excellent Italian food at either a small counter of at banquette type table. Giovanni has been providing good food, drink and laughter to locals and tourists alike for years. Take away can be done, reservations are a very good idea, English is adequate and now Spanish has been added to the linguistic mixture. The place can get a little warm and humid when Bavaria heats up so you might want to consider sitting outside although that is rather in the street, something I don't like much. I'll be honest and say that I've not it's years since I've been anywhere else in the neighbourhood for a pizza or calzone. The menu is quite small but the best is s...

"What a pleasant dinner I just had at this place with two friends. Service was great. They got us a table without prior reservation. We asked house specials Inside Out sushi rolls and a selection of beef slices covered in an awesome red sauce with garlic(items 46 and 69 in the menu). We “forbid” the waitress removing the remains of the sauce from #69 . After that we ordered 3 different curries. In my case, red curry(including coconut in the curry) with crispy chicken. Curry was creamy and with just the right amount of spiciness. It came with side rice and a bed of slices potatoes and broccoli between the chicken and the curry. The crispy chicken was good. Nothing especial about it except leaving the stage to the curry. The plating and the plate were awesome in my opinion. Portions very good too. The only observation was that one of my friends ordered a mango curry and he couldn’t identify the mango taste on it. Perhaps it was a mistake, perhaps the description is a bit misleading. We’ ll never know. All in all, it as a very pleasant experience for me. I can 100% recommend this place to those fan of the Japanese Curry. I’m not sure of the curry served in this place is indeed Japanese nor it was explicitly mentioned but it certainly have lots in common with them. Ohh, I almost forgot. I also ordered a White Geisha sake based drink. It was good. I don’t particularly remember it as an outstanding element of the dinner because I was too busy on the curry"
