"Strange experience. Food was great and terrible at the same time. Ordered broccoli soup, flavorless, and pretty sure there was no broccoli in it. Or they used a higher ratio of other vegetables than when puréed, soup was brown. Steak was overcooked and dry yet Chimichurri sauce was excellent. Cullen Skink soup was very good, along with seafood board, oysters and fries. Desert was bizarre. I ordered a chocolate cheesecake with Carmel sauce. There was no chocolate and no Carmel and came with raspberry coulis. Salad was supposed to have a raspberry vinaigrette, but no raspberry in it. They used lettuces that could not hold up to large tomato slices and the cucumber was diced so fine you could not pierce with your fork. My dad ordered sticky pudding that was supposed to come with Vanilla ice cream. We have no idea what the ice cream was but fairly confident was missing sugar and vanilla."

The food was excellent, but the seating arrangements were a bit cramped.

The staff were wonderful, but the food was quite disappointing, except for the scallop starter.

The menu was clearly labeled and offered a great variety of options. Although there was no separate fryer, the staff were mindful of this concern and checked with me if I was comfortable with it. Being gluten-free didn't seem to be an issue at all.

The menu features gluten-free options clearly marked, along with a variety of meat, fish, and seafood dishes, as well as vegetarian choices. The interior is pleasant, and there is also outdoor seating available. You can enjoy a wonderful view of the river and the castle. View menu

The service is exceptional, and the window seat is perfect. The seafood platter for sharing is fantastic and offers great value. The wine was enjoyable. The only drawback would be that the fillet was overcooked. I chose not to mention it to avoid any disruption during our business discussion.

Haven't got enough space, firstly the boy serving was excellent, all on his own,as for food, I'm a chef of 45 years, risotto starter, like sweet mush, awful,,toasted sourdough with mussels ?? No, 2 Tiny bits of dried up French stick !!! ,chicken main, served with huge lump of awful bland red cabbage and nothing else,as for Sunday roast, tiny overcook pigs in blankets, roast pots?? No, new baby pots skin on and way over cooked, 3 dots of COLD VEG PUREE,tasteless bland brocolli, god knows what the stuffing was, and roast gravy??? Nothing served would ever leave any of my kitchens,,waited years to get round to trying prime,, very sad,,70 odd quid for at best a bit turkey some mussels, and a bit of chic...

"Oh, what a day we had at The White House for my auntie’s 88th! It was pure magic, right from the off. The team there couldn’t have been more welcoming, making us all feel right at home in the heart of Scotland. Now, let’s gab about the food it was out of this world! We started with gluten free fish n chips, and let me tell you, it was as good as any chippy by the sea – crispy, golden, and just packed with flavor. The venison steak and beef short rib? Cooked just how you’d want them, tender and full of taste. The gluten free burgers were a hit too, so juicy and well seasoned. For pudding, we had these scoops of ice cream, smooth as you like, and an apple crunch cheesecake that was simply to die for. But it was our server, Anastasia, who really made our day. She was a wee star – always there with a smile, quick with a recommendation, and knew her menu inside out. I barely noticed our water bottle was empty, and whoosh, there she was with a full one. That’s service for you! The atmosphere in The White House was just as warm and inviting as you’d hope for. It felt like sitting in a cosy wee pub in the Highlands, with all the charm and friendliness you’d expect. So, if you’re ever in the mood for a meal that’s as satisfying as a wee dram on a cold night, head to The White House. It’s not just eating; it’s a proper Scottish experience, full of heart and soul"
