"My friend and I went yesterday (27/09/23) for lunch. We 've not been there for a while. Nice atmosphere, cozy, super clean and beautifully decorated. We both chose the fish pie which was delicious, as was the accompanying watercress, pickled red onion and pea side salad. Rounded off with a lovely dessert and a cappuccino coffee, which was one of the best I 've had dining out in a while. It turned out to be a lovely, unrushed meal, enabling us to catch up without worrying we were taking up the table for too long. I would imagine though the evening and weekend trade would be very busy, which might put the pressure on diners. The staff were courteous and efficient. The only issue and in no way should this be taken as a complaint firstly the way the menu is priced is 'interesting ' and, secondly, a service charge is automatically added to your bill. Paying by card I didn 't notice this. I found out as I attempted to hand over a gratuity as I hadn 't noticed this info on the card reader. The young gentleman and I chuckled over this as what I wanted to hand over, was greater than the applied service charge. We will visit again. It was also nice to discover our trip there bore no resemblance to those negative experience reviews I 'd read before visiting."

Love the food choice, including Gluten free. Peaceful location, with scenic views. Brilliant idea, enjoying best of both. Enjoy your food, taking in the scenery, whilst sitting in a heated, ornately decorated greenhouse!

maybe a little more than advertised. However, this old coach inn spent a little money for it last year. the laminat floor is a well furnished pub. the menu is okay. the employees are very good and very attentive, there is only a little atmosphere. it is worth once in a past, not every week!

A surprise 50th birthday for me. An amazingly beautiful and seamless night from the Cartford. My husband (who arranged) wanted to give special thanks to Rachel, Alex, Emily and the kitchen and especially to Simon W Brady who provided the entertainment. Just excellent, no other words for it! Well done Cartford!!!

Had a lunch and dinner here last year. Excellent food both times. As was the friendly and efficient service. Will be back soon. Good weather so sat outside, late into the evening with the family for the evening meal, ......Inside looks beautiful though. Walk passed with my dogs most mornings......itching to try the breakfast!

Really enjoyed a very different lunch experience! Sat in a heated greenhouse with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Good variety of high quality dishes at above average prices but worth it. Very attentive staff, happy to come out in the rain to serve us! Thanks for making my Mum's birthday extra special!! Went for a meal with my brother at short notice and have to say it was the best food I have had for a long time. Pheasant ballotine for start, confit duck leg for main, which had every taste bud sensation, then finished with lemon meringue and rhubarb…wow! Can’t believe that this standard of food is within walking distance for me. It really was first class food! Well done Julie, Patrick and the team.
