"we went to my man's birthday, together with his mother. she is the fraught esser on the planet and even she found something on the menu she could (and did) eat. my man had the blue cheese brûlée and I had the potato and soup for a starter, both were delicious. my mother-in-law had the blue cheese brûlée as main course, my man had steak and I had the fish and chips. all three meal times surpassed the expectations that the steak was made to perfection, the fish was in a crispy, but soft and fresh inside, the chips were boiled three times and very tasteful! we split a cheese plate to finish while mil cream had brûlée. the cheese plate was much for two and the cream brûlée was cleaned quite quickly. excellently round and very attentive and knowledgeable in front of the house staff. highly recommended."

I loved the starter, and everything else exceeded my expectations. I was very satisfied with my entire experience.

Pleasantly surprised, the level of cooking is to a high standard as is the service. I would recommend this to people looking for a decent, affordable meal out.

Fantastic Sunday lunch for a family of four. Food was excellent more expensive than others but the quality of the food made up for that. Service was also excellent giving sufficient time to order whilst delivery was prompt. Highly recommended. View menu

Sadly we were very disappointed after reading great reviews and our to celebrate my 60th birthday. The lady behind the bar was very pleasant and friendly. The starters were good however the few locals in were very loud and intrusive and seemed unaware of us as diners. We both had lamb stew which was poor quality and the chunks of meat and veg were too big to eat without cutting up which was difficult in a small casserole dish. It was also far too salty. A very disappointing evening .

This restaurant truly stands out, and I'm a bit concerned it might become too popular to get a table again! The atmosphere is perfect for conversation—there's no loud music, even when you're seated near the speakers. The food is seasonal, which means the menu isn't overwhelming, and the chef has a great sense of balance in the flavors. I enjoyed a three-course meal and didn’t feel overly stuffed afterward. The wine by the glass is of excellent quality and pairs well with the dishes. Overall, we loved it so much that we returned just a few days later, and we were delighted to find that it was just as good. We will definitely be coming back!

"Let me just say, the food was pretty good obviously a good team in the kitchen, not too long a wait and all very well presented. This is however where my praise finishes. It appears that even if you pre book a large group to eat on a quiet Saturday lunchtime you will not be given the best of receptions. We decided for ease of everyone to pay separately for our drinks at the bar this was not taken well and a frosty response from the woman at the bar made it clear we were already not doing things the way she wanted. Food orders were taken shortly after followed by an arm to the face as cutlery and sauce pots were pushed past us in no polite manner. Once our meals were delivered we were left alone to eat, no service followed. After our meals we decided to pay up individually so we all paid for what we ordered. At the bar. All was well until one of our group decided to ask if a service charge had been added, the reply was from the landlord of yes it had. Our group member asked for it to be removed in a polite manner as he explained it should be down to the customer to pay this not automatically. Having worked in pubs for many years myself this is a perfectly reasonable request, the fact we did most of the service for them by going to the bar to pay and get our drinks and no follow up after food served, meant the service charge of 10% not even shown on receipt, deceiving customers who leave a tip not realising the service charge has also been added. The landlord flew off the rails calling my group member a F king W! £er and a horrible man many times infront of the other customers, raging and abusive behaviour followed when he cornered my group member outside the pub as we were leaving. This behavior was so unacceptable and unbelievable, towards a man in his late 60s who never raised his voice once. So to all potential customers check your receipt before you leave the establishment and for a bill breakdown brace yourself for a full torrent of abuse before you are kicked out of the pub because of a service charge they have not declaired properly. Never visiting again!!!!"
