"We are regular visitors to this pub dining with various members of our family on different occasions. We booked a table for on December. After taking our seats at pm we ordered drinks and subsequently ordered mains. It took a long while...before these were served, but we didn't mind as we like relaxed meals. After our plates were cleared we were looking forward to seeing the desert menu. Imagine our surprise when we were presented with the bill!! After asking about desert we were curtly told that the pub closed at Maybe this should have been mentioned before we undertook to have a celebration lunch as a Christmas gift. Also had the mains arrived at a reasonable time perhaps there may have been time to wolf down desert???? What a very poor show shame on your hospitality Cross Keys!! A great disappointment to all on our table. We are very partial to desert and to us a meal is not a meal without it . Happy Christmas "

"Would highly recommend this wonderful pub, so cosy and welcoming. Dawn made my family and I (8 adults) very welcome. She kindly arranged for us to watch a football match on the tv, the table was set when we arrived, and we had a lovely meal and evening. We popped in again the following day and, again, we were made to feel very welcome. My family and I will definitely return when we are in the area again."

"We really enjoyed our stay here for a weekend. Very clean room and we were lucky enough to have an ensuite with a separate bath and shower. We had dinner in the pub downstairs on the first night and it was delicious. Unfortunately we were too late to put in a breakfast order for Monday morning as we got back late on Sunday evening (after 5pm). But there was a good farm shop breakfast nearby. All the staff were very helpful and accommodating and we felt very welcome. We would definitely stay again if we are back in the area."

"we traveled twice over 30 miles to this excellently managed family business pub and restaurant. both paint the eating iand presentation of it was excellently easy rival top london restaurants, but all at affordable prices. there is a varied menu and also specials. they need to book, as it is quickly posted not surprising."

"The recent renovation of The George's interior has been mostly positive, with one notable exception - the excessive number of doors. This results in a constant stream of people coming and going, creating a chilly dining experience. Despite this, the food was very good, though not always served hot enough, and slightly expensive. The white wine is never properly chilled, and the service can be hit or miss depending on the staff working that day. One consistent issue is the view from certain tables facing the kitchen - a fluorescent light, worktops, and tiling are not in line with the historical charm of the restaurant."
