"On the 15th of August 2014, I sat down with my three (teenage) kids, to have a last drink (soda for them, a calvados (preferably) for me). We had spend the week before in Sweden, building a raft and floating it down the Klarälven. To recover from our hardship (it wasn't all that bad), we had booked ourselves into the Spa in Bad Schwartau. Which then finally leads me to the story at hand.We had eaten at the local pizzeria and were on our way to Haus Magdalena (wonderful place, different review), when we passed this Peffer und Salz place and decided to have a nightcap (for me then, that is, as said). Now, the boys love playing cards. We basically play only "klaverjas", a sort of simplified version of bridge. We were almost done with a game and so pulled out the cards to finish,. After having ordered the drink from an otherwise helpful waitress, the, presumably, owner, came out. He enquired about the game we were playing and despite my explanation ruled it to be “a game of chance” and asked us to leave. Now, you can call me biased on account of being Dutch and all, but having lived in Germany for a number of years, normally that chip is of my shoulders. I have now looked over the restaurant’s menu (insofar as this offers any insight other than “ausgesuchte Steaks etc“)and augmended by the fact that this place rocketed to be the 3rd best restaurant in Bad Schwartau on the basis of one review alone leads me to the hope the owner’s peculiar (to use a euphemism) behavior is borne from his frustration to find himself being a mediocre cook in even more mediocre restaurant as opposed to his perhaps squashed ambition to be a Michelin star. The alternative, otherwise, is an insult to my many good German colleagues and indeed friends.Either way, if you find yourselves in Bad Schwartau, better to avoid this place. I doubt very much anything these people serve can compensate for the aftertaste of narrow-mindedness."

"short description: environment and operation 4 stars, menu and eat 3 stars. a few years ago I was last in the longhorn and why is it years ago because eating was a pure fall. but since it was so long, it should not be included in this assessment. enter the restaurant, is on the right hand – opposite the marketplace a surface with long window front, various large tables, heavy black leather chairs with high back rest and a dark red wall in the background. large red columns, a black rule, a palm. the first impression: stylish modern, clean, clear. the restaurant is significantly larger; it should be a house, it should be a lot of sitting in the back area, they should be able to observe the cook while cooking. of all that I have seen nothing and therefore cannot make an assessment. on the tables are braided sets, a white vase with red rose and a candle in a spherical glass. the environment meets my taste and I give 4 stars. the food card is kept in flyer form, has some writing errors here and there. there are meat and fish dishes, various Indian dishes, courses and pettynesses, soups and desserts, salads and drinks. the name “Steakhaus” is therefore not so true in my opinion. I read among others: “Turkey cäsar salat was for a silly, dg namen. – fresh romanasalate with brush and parmesan garlic bread €9.50”, which sounds good. I'll take it. I choose a quiet water 0.25 l to 1.90 €. my girlfriend decides for a 200g hip steak with baked potato and garlic bread at 14,70 € and a Cola light 0.4 l at 3,50 €. the service anne stands on the cassenbon is friendly and understands its craft. to eat. when my salad is brought, I see green. all salat leaves are arranged in a circle of rosettes on the plate. on the top side, numerous small brush strips and three pieces of roasted bread are scattered, which have the same size, color and shape as the brush strips, about 1 cm wide and 3 cm long. actually I expected a few more crumbs. the Parmesan cheese is shrunk in mm strips, the amount is also very manageable. the tasty dressur is applied excessively, so that in the middle of the teller a cap has formed, in which at the beginning of the meal the still crunchy salad regularly floats, but then quickly loses the “span power” and becomes bitter. I feel the inhomogeneous amount of the individual ingredients as somewhat disturbing. are also 9,50 € of my opinion too expensive for this salat. all in all I give him three stars. the enthusiasm of my support for kartoffel and steak also keeps in limits. another visit does not irritate me if it is despite the due environment. .... the menu that can be viewed on the website looks sadly chaotic and not appealing; here and there is the wrong register card, the details are incomplete and the displayed prices do not match the currently required travel."

"update dezember 2016 is one of my favorite restaurants. the atmosphere is calm, a bit from the front, while cozy. the service still excellent, as well as eating. my choice in the last week: tafelspitz on truffle root vegetables to a laugh of kartoffel pure and merrettich sauce to €18.50 it stays at 5 stars! .......... april 2013 the gaststube is a restaurant of the waldhotel riesebusch, and this in turn is idyllic at the rande of a forest called riesebusch. several times in the year we want to return here, among other things because the menu changes and the foods are adapted to the respective season. seasonal eating – they know what they have. the environment is rustic with a hauch of elegance. much dark wood, but not expressive because the room is large and well lit, and the table decoration is bright and friendly. there are two large window fronts, but they only promise darkness in the winter hours. the tables are covered with light yellow table runners, serviettes and flashy glasses and bribes. the fresh tulip harmonized in red yellow tones. I would like to mention the very comfortable chairs a not to be underestimated factor with longer restaurant stay! the menu is manageable, but from all things there is something. in meat it is calf, rumpsteak, pork fillet and chicken breast. for lovers of the Dutch cuisine are offered dishes such as labskaus, duck sour meat and green cabbage with cashier and porkbacke. in the fish I have passed the quality of the choice between scholle, zander, dorsch and carp. and while we still read through the map, to the cost of the house crispy brot and a small tip. very delicious! I decide for zanderfilet on short cut vegetables and gnocchi for 17,50 € delicious, rich 5 stars! for dessert I cannot resist a walnut baklava with vanille pernencomott at 5,50 €. I have no idea what a “Baklava” is all over the world. somehow far away sounding and graphic dracula uuups, my fantasy goes through with me. but after finishing the meal and the study of wikipedia I can find out: I was already very close to the service is very friendly, flash, dominates the service of the ff and comes from me also 5 stars. I've eaten very often here and I wasn't even disappointed. the restaurant is also welcome for family celebrations. a view of the menu offers a view and makes appetit! ................ breakfast from 8 – 11 o'clock warm kitchen from 12 – 21.30 o'clock coffee and cake from 15 18 o'clock once a month takes place a buffet evening with changing themes"
