"We arrived around 12.20pm and were shown to a table, it looked quite busy but there were quite a few staff appearing to be working. Sat down and were told someone would be over to take our order shortly. After 25mins without even being offered...drinks the couple next to us suggested we might need to ask because they had to. I went up to the bar and was told it was table service only so I asked if they could send someone over to take at least a drinks order because we were gasping. Came within 5 mins but sadly no apology for the wait although she was polite. Food came about another half hour later. Food was nice thankfully, we had the cajun baguette and chips beans and sausage. Coleslaw and salad with the baguette was very fresh. however, then we had to get in a queue to pay, which took a further 15 minutes. You're expected to get your own cutlery from the bar (why when it is table service?! and there were no knives or napkins so I had to stand and ask for them to bring them over anyway. there seemed to a lack of anyone actually in charge, every person we saw leave had left to pay before they had their dishes even cleared from the table. There seem to be waitresses just flitting between various jobs rather than being able to manage a role, so the people behind the till changed 4 times by the time we got there. The lady in front of us queuing to pay just had one waitress disappear on her halfway through trying to claim a small refund. They also have only one queue to pay, so you are waiting for everyone in front of you to buy cakes and the staff to box them up which takes at least 5 mins per customer, so if you just want to pay and get away it's a long frustrating wait. It's a shame because I gave this a go for the first time in about 4 years after the same shocking service last time, giving it the benefit of the doubt but it has just proved that nothing has changed. We don't eat out very often so it's disappointing when you do and it's below par service. Having worked in hospitality in my youth from pubs to rosette awarded restaurants, its so frustrating when even the basic level of service isn't offered. Sadly won't be returning any time soon."
