"After a long weekend camping at a festival, we’d promised the daughter that we’d eat out in the evening as we just felt like getting home and not getting lunch on the return journey as originally planned. We thought we’d try The Woodhouse Inn...due to our default “cheep and cheerful” destination (The Lockeeper) being fully booked. Result !!! For a start, the environment is much nicer than its barn like near-neighbour, and doesn’t suffer the same cacophony of kids and shrieking, etc. Secondly, the drink options were reasonably priced and varied. Thirdly, and by far the most important, the food was amazingly good for the money..... but this wasn’t just “cheap and cheerful “, this was fresh tasting top quality ingredients cooked spot on. No bells and whistles, but very, very enjoyable food on each plate. No worries re portion control, me and the wife were stuffed, but the daughter had apple pie for desert, and even this excelled when tasted. We will be regular visitors to this great find and would recommend it to anyone who could appreciate the efforts the new owners have gone to to serve great cooking at great prices, and I wish them every success."
