"A racetrack seems to be an unlikely destination when one is in search of fine French food but La Table located within L 'Hippodrome du Bouscat is an exception worth discovering. The positive reviews were confirmed on a recent visit to the easily reached facility located just outside of Bordeaux proper. We arrived from the water front area via public transit requiring just a single transfer. The dining room there with free and easy access is spacious and with a panoramic view of the quaint racecourse. The menu choices whether a la carte or fixed price are extensive and are sure to please locals and also visitors craving regional specialties. Noted wines from one of the world 's great regions are, of course, plentiful. Our choice was an easy drinking Chateau Merlet- Bordeaux- Blanc Sec- 2011 Our lunch appetizers included 'Duo De Tartare Saumon ' (Salmon Tartar with Shrimps) The plate was stunning with the chopped salmon in the middle circled by the whole glistening crevettes accompanied by lemon wedges. The cerviche technique produced a taste that was most pleasing to the palate. The shrimps were also well executed. We also tried 'Terrine De Joue De Boeuf Au Foie Gras ' (Beef with sections of Foe Gras inserted). The meat had a deep delicious beef taste, similar to that of a well seasoned pot roast, and the foie gras added another layer of much appreciated richness. The roasted potatoes were a bonus The two entrée selections were both winners! 'Cabillaud En Croute De Chorieo ' (Cod) was well mounted and with greens scattered about the plate. The portion was most generous, flaky, moist and delicious. The highlight of the second entrée, 'Bavette- Sauce Béarnaise ' (beef steak) was the incredibly lush and scrumptious Bernaise sauce. Dessert brought instant consensus and 'Cheese Cake Passion ' was overwhelmingly approved. The presentation was striking. The cheesecake was light, airy and fruity, the perfect conclusion to a fulfilling encounter and at a surprising affordable price of 25 euro each. La Table de L 'Hippodrome Du Bouscat is worth a visit"

"This restaurant is across the car park from the Premiere Classe Hotel in Eysines, Bordeaux. After a long day 's driving we were delighted to have a restaurant so close to our hotel especially one with an outside eating area on such a lovely warm evening. The menu came as a shock. The Plat du Jour was printed onto the paper place settings. As there were only four choices steak (cooked), duck, salmon or steak tartare we assumed that there would be a comprehensive printed menu available. Wrong. That was it take it or leave it!. Well, can you do us an omelette, please? Non! The Plat du Jour was only €12.90 including chips with a €2 supplement for salad or sauce. We duly ordered from the menu like good little boys. When the food came it was very nicely cooked and came with a MASSIVE bowl of the best chips I have ever tasted. We rose to the occasion and just about managed to eat all the chips they were double fried and absolutely gorgeous. Given that we were sat in a suburb of Bordeaux, one of the largest wine growing areas, the wine was surprisingly expensive. The house red was €12.90 per bottle but drinkable. Others were over €25 per bottle. That is scandalous. Despite the relatively low price of the Plat du Jour by the time we had eaten main course and pudding, had a couple of bottles of wine and coffees the total bill was over €140. But for those superb, glorious chips I would mark this restaurant down further. It is far from cheap (as it tries to make out) but the food is well cooked and tasty. By all means eat there but be warned about choice and cost."
