"I was curious to go first after kamal as I went vegan, since I was there all the time when I was vegetarian and I really loved eating and the atmosphere. we were mainly served by a just waitress that I realized from her work there when I had visited before. I always found her very pleasant, but at this visit she was very rude from the beginning. I understand that people have bad days, but they just didn't seem to worry, never smiled or said thank you and seemed chewing gum when she served us. I asked them about vegan options, as there was a declaration before the menu to ask about vegan food and I had also seen really great reviews on travel advisors. When I asked her, she looked at me and replied, I don't know. without cream like sweet curry or chicken curry. I don't think I could hide my disappointment, so she said she'd go to the kitchen to ask. I then saw her walking around in the restaurant and didn't see her at all near the kitchen. she came back and said: her vegetable curry and maybe, I don't know, balti? I decided it would be safer to go with the sweet curry that was in order, but essentially frozen vegetables cooked in the watery curry. the rice was the best part of the meal. my sister ordered two vegetarian dishes that looked much better. the only redeeming factor of the visit was a second waitress, which served us and a man at the reception, who were very pleasant. I am so disappointed about this experience because, as I said, I had always come to kamal and had a great atmosphere earlier. I was worried that we wouldn't even get a table on a Saturday night, but there was another couple when we arrived and one when we were gone. the service was quite shocking and I think if they advertise as vegan options, then this must be more than a herbal curry. I am not sure, however, whether this was the fault of the kitchen or the waitress, which did not interfere in the least about the question. I really hope that kamal’s will improve, as I would like to go back sometime and have the dishes and experiences I loved earlier!"

"I was not a guest at the Killyhevlin hotel but booked dinner a month in advance for my partner's birthday. On arrival it was not particularly busy, in hindsight this should have been a red flag. Our waitress left us standing for about 5 minutes while she wraped up her conversation with her colleague. before she acknowledged us. I had requested a window seat with views of the Lough similar to the photos on the site, instead we were seated by the fire exit with excellent views of the table I had requested. Our waitress, once she had us seated then proceeded to ignore us for another 50 minutes giving me ample time to ponder why I chose this resturant. During this time she had a 45 minute conversation with another table of guests at the resturant who she seemed to know. After being ignored by every other server at the resturant, who all seemed to be locked on a permanent loop of the resturant floor where they ignored most customers and focused on the space slightly above our heads, all while avoiding eye contact, I managed to get the attention of one of the younger waiters. After explaining we had been waiting quite a while he scampered away to pry our waitress from her banter, she must have insisted he take the order as he returned, hastily apologised, and took our order. I asked to speak to our waitress who returned and claimed that there was a mix up, although she had introduced herself as our waitress and said she would return to take our orders when we arrived. I brought this up with her and she eventually begrudgingly apologised and offered a drink for our troubles. From starter to main course to dessert. . . .no water poured, no wine poured, never asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything basically a complete lack of service. She did not return to try and remedy the situation but passed the buck to one of the younger staff to step in and avoided our area of the room for the rest of the night, going as far as to leave the payment stand when we came to pay. The food was rather greasy and quite tasteless and the experience definitely wasnt helped by the shocking service. The one star is for the lovely young lady who brought my partner her dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday. This was truly the only highlight of an exceptionally awful meal."
