"Located near the famous landmark Golden Door (Goldenes Dachl), one the same road between it and the Ottoburg (a former tower which marks one end of the Altstadt), this is a nice looking place, with bright yellow cushions on its chairs in the outdoor section of the eatery.I had been up in the mountains the morning I ate here. I chose this place when I looked at its advertised specials, one of which was a hamburger - yes, I AM from the US and we like our burgers, but I don't usually eat them while abroad, as I prefer to try the local cuisine. But for some reason I was tempted by the burger.I'm not sure if they were trying to copy a burger from the US. I don't like most of those as they glop all sorts of things on the burger, most of which I scrape off to get to, shall we say, the meat of the matter. If the Osterichi WERE trying to copy US burgers it was a good try. Too good, for my tastes.First it was enormous, second there was some sort of special dressing on it, which mixed with the cheese that was also present, along with other condiments. The rest of the large platter was filled with fries. It was all too much for me.I ate about half of the fries, almost all of the meat, which, when I got down to it was tasty. I fully suspect that I am in the minority and that most of my fellow countrymen would gobble it up. I didn't - couldn't actually, and so indicated that I was finished. Two different staff members came and asked me if I didn't like it. I have too little German to be of any use in the kind of conversation that would explain why I hadn'td finished. I assured them it was good, just too much. For me this was not an "average" meal, as my three circle rating would seem to indicate. The service was fine, the view from my table excellent for people-watching, the beer tasty. But the experience ws disappointing for complicated reasons, which I've tried to explain above. TripAdvisor doesn't seem to have it listed, but asked me to write this review while they check it out (if you know the drill, when you can provide address and phone number etc) the organization tends to believe you). I'd hate for this to be the only view. As noted above, many of my fellow countrymen would love it. It just wasn't to my taste. So be not afraid to give it a try, and if you like it give it give it a good review to counter this one. Sorry Ostarichi - I should have tried another of your specials."
