"Gorgeous place, amazing food, reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend! We dined as a group of 9. Wait times were very reasonable and the food came together for the most part. I had 3 courses, 2 off the specials menu (starter: garlic butter with warm bread dough balls and main: spring onion buttered chicken with homemade fries and peas) with a brownie and ice cream for dessert, and 3 bottles of coors. Vegetarian options: There were limited options which included starters and mains. For starters I had dough balls with garlic butter. Also available was soup or mushrooms on toast. For mains the option was 3 bean chilli. Dietary restrictions: There were a fair range of gluten free options throughout the entire menu (starters, mains and dessert). Parking: There is a small car park near by but it was full so we had to find street parking that wasn't restricted, a short walk away."

"Rude and unwelcoming management. Will advertise room hire until 1 then turn off the electricity to music and disabled toilets at 11. Apparently the onus is on the bride/booker to ASK this? Cannot deal with understandably unhappy customers and get aggressive and defensive! I posted a review on Facebook and they decided to disable reviews and remove that function so now other prospective customers cannot see these issues. Complete lack of transparency and management are letting down a beautiful venue. I would not look to book this venue as it is clear that the manager will not take accountability for any issues that arise and won’t think twice about ruining someone’s wedding reception. Edited to add following the venue’s response. I am NOT the bride. I was a guest in attendance at a family wedding. I was also NOT drunk (do not drink) and was there with my three year old daughter. I did not speak to management directly but I witnessed the conversations and the upset than ensued following them. The venue have removed the option to review on Facebook instead of dealing with the complaints. The venue state the room hire is until 1 with no mention the final two hours are supposed to be enjoyed in total silence. The issue is not with licensing laws. It’s with transparency at the time of booking and how management deal with complaints both on the night and thereafter. Working in the hospitality industry takes good customer service, which is lacking from The Celtic Lodge Management team. The onus is NOT on the customer to query if the music license ends two hours before the room hire does. I think most people would assume this would either be mentioned by the venue at the time of booking or the license goes until the end of the room hire. It is not fair or reasonable to assume everyone is privy to hospitality rules and dupe customers. What wedding reception would start at 7 to end by 10:30?"

"DO NOT EAT HERE! I never write reviews for anything but the food was so terrible, so watery I felt I had to leave a review. Staff were lovely and were happy to redund money for 4 attempted flat cokes. The both different burgers me and my partner had were so watery and chips were disgusting. Really disappointed because the bistro looks lovely. We ended up with warm tap water also no ice. Meal type: Lunch"

"My dad is quite picky and rarely goes out to eat because of it, yet he enjoyed everything, even the wild garlic and potato soup that he wouldn't have normally tried. That’s a huge compliment from him, and from all of us as well! The prices are reasonable; we had starters, mains, sides, and drinks, and it averaged around £35 per person. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, featuring original wood and ironwork. Thank you again to all the staff – you’re fantastic! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £30–40"

"I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this restaurant, especially considering the price. The portions were generous and we couldn't fit everything on the table. The Christmas tree was also impressive. This place is a hidden gem, as we were able to get a table last minute when all the other pubs were fully booked for Sunday dinner. There is plenty of parking available right outside. The price per person is around £20-30. I would recommend trying the Sunday Roast. Overall, a great dining experience."

"My daughters wedding had been booked 6 months ago to have 2 days before the big day, the wedding cancelled as they could not cover the numbers. But she was still married in the barn as registrar couldn't change venue last min. The chair covers were visibly dirty and had worn holes, confetti from previous wedding still on the floor. The decorations we provided still had tags left o which they supposedly arranged for us. Totally heartbreaking for the bride."

"This place used to be the best around, and I'm talking best Indian I've ever tasted! Having eaten plenty around the UK and world, this was 2nd to none! What happened? It must have been all down the chef maybe? Find me that chef !! Because this place could have been a gold mine and the owner obviously got greedy. The highly regarded mint masala is very nice but even that was no where near the standard of spirit in its hay day, was so tasty. Such a shame, waste and a real good business lost! Let's hope they find that chef and reignite but it's probably had its day... poor food last order."
