"We came for lunch today and I ordered the rigatoni with olives. The pasta came and it was hard. I told them it wasn’t cooked and asked if they could cook it for longer. They took it away, cooked it again and the pasta was still hard. So I asked if i could have the ravioli instead as I’d ordered it for my daughter. They brought me that raviolo and it was lovely. When we went to pay, they had added the rigatoni although I had not ate it. I told the owner that I wouldn’t pay for the rigatoni and he immediately started threatening me. He told me that I needed to pay for it because they’d cooked it twice, that other patrons had ordered it and they’d eaten it without a problem, that he was going to call the Carabinieri on me for not paying. I told him to go right ahead and call the Carabinieri. Then his wife? started telling me that I was wrong before he shushed her so he could yell at me some more. He then told me to get out of his restaurant so I started to leave and he told me that I couldn’t leave without paying. So I said I would pay for what we ate. I started to walk out to put my daughter’s backpack in the car while I waited for the police. I gave it to my partner and, as I turned around to go back in, the man walked out and told me to leave and that he didn’t want my money. I honestly wish I was making this up. I could not believe what I was hearing and the scene he was creating over a plate of pasta that amounted to .25c worth of ingredients. There had been no drama up until that point. I wasn’t upset with them, I just wanted my pasta to be cooked. Being a bonafide Italian myself and a decent cook, I know what al dente is. The pasta I tried to eat was way before al dente. We both couldn’t believe how abysmally and unprofessionally the owner behaved. Everything he did was completely uncalled for. The level of arrogance was palpable. He and his entire crew could do with an extra large serving of humble pie."

"I recently stopped for a quick lunch at Trattoria Fioravante, which is situated on a road next to a canal that leads in from Lake Garda. I was warmly welcomed and given a choice of sitting outdoors on a covered patio, in the main dining...room or out on an enclosed porch. I sat out on the porch and found tables nicely decorated and covered with cloth tablecloths. A breadbasket contained a terribly dry and tasteless bread, though I did find some packaged breadsticks on another table. Fioravante is owned and operated by a couple, with the woman taking care of orders and service and her husband working in the kitchen. I would imagine there is additional help during the busy tourist season. The menu, while somewhat limited, had a good selection of antipasti, primi (pasta course) and entrees. There were also daily specials. I started my meal with an antipasto of Octopus Salad (9 euro) served warm with potatoes and fried polenta on a bed of greens and radicchio. The portion size was generous and the octopus was tender. I followed this with one of the daily specials; Spaghetti allo Scoglio (13 euro) that included mussels, cockles, one shrimp and a few calamari tentacles. Unfortunately, the mussels were ice cold and had been precooked. The dish wasn't as flavorful as I anticipated and it was missing the overall flavor from the seafood. I had a bottle of sparkling Corte Viola Chardonnay; a simple table wine and I paid for only what I consumed. It would have been nice to have an ice bucket to keep the white wine chilled during my meal. I inquired about homemade desserts on the menu. The hostess explained they had a Banana Semifreddo, Panna Cotta and Crema Bavarese. I passed and simply ordered an espresso cafe. While the hostess was very pleasant, I found the food to be mediocre. I have no plans to return t Trattoria Fioravante and I cannot recommend this restaurant to the TripAdvisor community."
