"Scarborough flyer has always been one of our family’s favourite bars in Scarborough. Staff are always ‘top class’ and very helpful and obliging. However, we will never return to the pub due to their door staff who are complete and utter bullies! I witnessed a lovely looking family who I feel was targeted due to one of the females having a black child with her and her family. The door staff were aggressive, and trying to snatch a drink out of a young females hands in the group and telling them to leave. We were astounded by this behaviour because they had just arrived, and we were sat next to them and was unable to see any reason for the door staffs behaviour. Apparently, it was due to the young boy wearing trackies I must say the young boy was dressed very smartly) and the doorman said it was not allowed, however, there were no signs stating you could not wear track suit bottoms after a certain time this was 8pm in the evening. We personally believe they were being racist towards what appeared to be a very nice family. The family stated they were going to take the matter further and I offered my number to them if they needed a witness regarding the hostility showed by the bouncers!"

"My husband , myself ,our two daughters and three grandchildren , the youngest being three, had lunch here on Monday. We are , one dairy and gluten free, 4 vegan , one vegetarian and one who eats anything. Usually this makes eating out difficult but this place had everything covered ,with more than one vegan choice ,which is rare. They are also dog friendly but have one area dog free in case of allergy. The portions were very generous and the staff friendly and helpful. highly recommend and hopefully will get to visit again ."

"The best Italian food in town! I absolutely love the food, but even more, I adore the people here. The bartender, Marcella, makes the best espresso martini around. "We are holidaying here with our three children. My son who is autistic loves softplay, its the only way we can eat out in peace as a family. I googled nearby softplays and this showed up and we were looking forward to it. When we arrived we ordered our food and were told softplay is closed and has been for 2 years. I suggest they update their cover photo online featuring the softplay and amend the reasons to visit by deleting family friendly with softplay . We stayed anyway and my son needed the toilet. It was disgusting, god knows when last cleaned. No toilet roll, hand wash empty but a bottle of diluted hand sanitizer there instead. Once food arrived the meat on my Sunday dinner was tough. Kids potato smiles burnt and my husbands chilli was close to inedible with how spicy it was. Four flies were constantly circling the table and going on our food. I complained and was told there 's fields surrounding so it can 't be helped. I did get offered a replacement meal for my Sunday roast which I declined because the kids were twining about the softplay and I just wanted to go home. I 'm not one to complain infact this is the first time I ever have in an establishment and I hate doing it but this was disappointing. I 'd be interested to know the hygiene rating. Its a shame because its a lovely building in a beautiful setting."

"This is our 5th visit to kam sang restaurant and on previous occasions the food and service both excellent but last nights visit was totally different we were greeted by most of the staff wearing masks were shown to a table brought menus order taken the first course hot and sour soup was so spicy it brought tears to my boyfriends eyes he had the same soup in july totally different colour and taste and it so much tastier in july next the main course my boyfriend had house special curry the prawns were hard to eat and cut which spoiled the curry i had the beef and pineapple which was ok very pineapple laden and very underseasoned next the egg fried rice which was sticky clumped together and not very tasty the one redeeming part of the meal was the prawn crackers very tasty i must also say felt very watched by the staff when eating now u can be attentive to customer's without making u feel like u being watched if i do return and staff wearing masks i will not be staying as not comfortable being served by people wearing masks Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1"

"We had a booking confirmed days in advance for 9 people but on arrival was given a table of 6 (with one extra chair). It was implied the table next to us would be finishing soon and we would have their table then even though they were still eating mains with half a bottle of wine to drink. They took half of our drinks orders and then walked away. I felt judged for ordering a bottle of wine as opposed to a glass, they refused to give us a jug of water and questioned why we wanted tap water alongside soft drinks. Staff were rude and made us feel unwelcome. They offered us poppadoms even though two people in the group were left standing without a chair. When we told the waiter we wanted to wait to order until we were comfortable he laughed at us. After half an hour, when the table next to us had not been given the bill and our drinks hadn’t come, we decided to leave and go to Scarborough Tandoori (highly recommend). When we told them we were leaving they said ‘okay’ with no apology."

"Me and my husband went for our anniversary. The starters were lovely I had humus and my husband had cod roe . But the main meal well my husband had the lamb and he said it was delicious, the veg was nice but I had the beef and it was was like vinegar, it sucked the moisture out your mouth , I couldn’t eat it . But what got me mad is that the 3 women (2 older n 1 younger stood at the bar looking straight at me , knowing I had a problem with my food but not one of them came over but while we were eating the starters we were asked if everything was ok . When I reluctantly went to pay the lady said “ we noticed you didn’t like ya meal “ but yet she didn’t come over .I didn’t want to make a scene as I was fuming so I just paid n left . Very disappointed won’t be going back , very poor service , spoilt my night ."

"Despite saying ALL food half-price on posters advertising Sunday and Monday offer, when we tried to order king prawn dishes, we were told these were charged at full price. Lots of other issues at this restaurant, notably overcharging, which has been mentioned elsewhere When I messaged them on Facebook to complain, the manager refuted all my complaints despite me providing photo evidence. In response to my TripAdvisor review, he acknowledged that some of their posters did NOT mention that king prawn dishes were charged at full price, but in private, he continued to be smug and superior and sent me the following message: 'By the way, I think you need to go to Specsavers to examine your eye I already send you King prawn is not on half price regardless, you have posted on Tripadvisor ' If you wish to eat in an establishment where you 're overcharged and insulted, be my guest, but count me out."

"We have visited this restaurant several times. The first time was last March and the food and service were fantastic. However, when we went again in June, the menu had changed and nothing stood out to us, so we opted to just have drinks instead. In November, the beer we ordered was clearly off so we switched to bottles. We returned again this March, and once again the beer was off. The service was also underwhelming and there was no hand wash or hot water in the restrooms. We will not be returning to this restaurant. It is a real shame, as Taylor's in North Bay, which is part of the same company, is excellent."

"I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago and was really excited to try it out, but was ultimately let down by the experience. My previous visits to Whitby included dining here and enjoying the atmosphere, but this time was different. Despite making a reservation, we were seated at a small, cramped table that was cold and drafty. I considered asking to move, but the waitress had already given the better tables to walk-in customers by the time she returned. It took a long time for our food to arrive, and those who walked in after us were served before us. It seems that locals were given priority. I ordered the lobster dish."

"My husband and I visited here for the first time Thursday evening. I asked the young blonde barmaid if I should choose a table then return to the bar to order. She was talking to a dodgy looking character at the bar. She tutted at me and said YES. It took a while to find a clean table. I then ordered the food which appeared to put the barmaids back up. Very rude and snappy, when the food came I asked please could we have salt and pepper and the male waiter grunted something under his breath. He slammed down the cutlery and flounced off. I then realised he had only given me knife. So I went up to the bar and asked please can I have a fork the rude blonde totally ignored me even though she was stood directly in front of me. So I asked another lady that appeared behind the bar which I think she was her boss. The blonde then got me a fork and slammed it on the filthy bar. The food was rubbish white chips and a steak that was rock hard and dry as a bone. Don’t waste your money it may appear cheap but £30 for a meal for 2 that was inedible is not cheap. You get what you pay for and that includes the staff!!!"

"The Cask Inn was very close to where we were staying on holiday. It’s a ‘typical old British pub’. The pub was obviously used by locals but first trip we found it ok. The staff were not ‘over friendly’ think it was because we were Tourists but drinks reasonably priced. On the third visit we sat at table in bar with locals. I presume it was a family with teenagers who sat next to us with a large dog. The family, to put it bluntly smelled awful and were really scruffily dressed. The dog smelt even worse and started licking my husbands shoe.The owner made no attempt to stop the dog. Although when we got up and moved because of the stench, the handler said sorry. Both my husband and I finished our drinks and left. The stench was still in our nostrils when we got outside.Needless to say we never went back."

"Got a take away here about 18 months ago and it was superb, sadly cannot say the same of tonight’s offering Sweet and sour chicken was disgusting! "I had a great experience at this restaurant. They have a good vegetarian menu and offer takeout service for dinner. The price per person ranges from £10 to £20. I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all a 5 out of 5. Some recommended dishes include the Veg, Sauce, Egg Fried Rice, Chips, Black Bean Sauce, Plum Sauce, Mini Spring Rolls, Chilli, and Noodles. "Having been recommended by friends we decided to book in for Saturday afternoon, my self my partner and our two children. We were booked for 1330 but arrived 20 minutes early and the place looked to be very busy so we thought we’d have to have a wander up the cobbles till our actual booking time. This wasn’t the case, the wonderful Chloe, (please forgive me if I’m wrong) managed to have a little shuffle round tables and got us sat down straight away, explained the specials board and handed us menus. We ordered drinks but needed a little more time to peruse the menus, as with the specials board they really have an outstanding selection of what sound like delicious meals to offer. I ended up opting for the fisherman’s casserole, my partner had a large haddock chips and peas, and the kids both had chicken nuggets chips and beans (imagine my shock). The fisherman’s casserole was absolutely incredible, beautiful rich white sauce with chunks of white fish, prawns and salmon with a velvet mash and cheese topped lid with freshly steamed vegetables. My partner said his haddock was one of the best fish he’d eaten, and he eats a lot of fish and chips believe me. The kids also gave a nod of approval as they managed to peel themselves away from their phones for 2 seconds. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food you receive. Unfortunately we were driving later on that day and couldn’t enjoy a bottle of wine for the great looking selection they had. All in all we absolutely loved it and next time we’re back in Whitby, (hopefully this summer) we will Definitely be back to your wonderful restaurant."

"I visited this restaurant for breakfast as a special treat. Unfortunately, it didn't start well when we were told we had to finish our meal in 10 minutes, even though we could only sit at our table until 12:15. This made us feel rushed and unwelcome, and I almost left at that point. Our food arrived promptly at 10:45, but it was just okay. The toast was underdone and soggy, and the sauce was dumped on the table without a word. We were disappointed by the lack of hospitality and the staff seemed preoccupied with preparing for lunch service. I won't be returning to this restaurant, as I don't feel like the £30 we spent on one breakfast, one mushroom on toast, and two coffees was well worth it."
