"As a relatively new vegan, I was incredibly pleased with the fantastic falafel, Persian bread, and salad I had for lunch yesterday. It was like eating a rainbow! I honestly can't remember ever having such a vibrant, creative salad before. My only regret is that I didn't take a photo before I dug in. But that's okay, as I have two vegan friends coming to visit next weekend, and I know exactly where we're going!"

"This is a very disappointing experience. I had booked a room last year through booking.com, but had to postpone my stay to May 26 due to the coronavirus pandemic. I had received confirmation that the change had been agreed upon. However, when I arrived at the hotel today after traveling from Newcastle, I found that it was closed as indicated on their website. With nowhere else to stay on Ascension Day, I was lucky to finally find a room at the Royal Hotel with the help of the Caladonian Hotel. My advice is to avoid booking at this hotel. On the plus side, at least we didn't have to spend the night in our car."

"Myself and my husband dined here on a Saturday night in November with very little choice available in the town due to closures. The whole experience was very similar to your local Spoons'. Nice fireplace gave it a cosy atmosphere. After moving to 2 different tables due to sticky drinks marks we settled down in the corner. Not too busy, maybe 3 other tables and some drinking bar locals. Handed some lovely sticky menus you start to contemplate about staying in the place but we persevered. Good choice on the menu. I had scampi, hubby had burger. No table service so you order and pay at the bar as you go along. Food was surprisingly very tasty and good portion sizes! Waitresses skills were questionable taking plates before we had both finished. The barman however was very friendly and had a nice conversation or two with my husband. Overall it wasn't a great experience but also not a terrible one. OK service, OK food, just average. Better than grabbing a takeaway. Clean the tables and menus and it would have gained an extra star!"

"Place opens at 12 which is fine for lunch time, what I would say is that food is really good, staff do what they need to and done their job. However no one checked on us or offered to clear our table until we asked to pay the bill had clearly been finished for ages. Good harbour views and maybe isn’t the most modern place. However I would say that if you want to listen to a doorbell going off for the duration of your stay then sit inside (as the doorbell is the way the chef says food is really upstairs). Toilets are communal for male and female which I didn’t find a problem. Food is priced at 30 for 2 burgers, with the area you would expect that though. Would recommend for good food for sure."

"We had a wonderful meal here. We've been in the Outer Hebrides for a week and arrived on the late ferry in Ullapool. My family and I were treated exceptionally well, and the food was fantastic. The staff was very helpful. I even gave my talkative son a big ice cream. It was a perfect way to end our vacation. We will definitely be back later this year. Highly recommend!"

"We may have been unlucky, but we found a place that put us in a hurry to choose what to eat and the menu included ONLY PASTA AND PIZZA! As good Italians, we prefer to eat pasta and pizza at home. When we are around we want to try the local specialties. Unfortunately we had no alternatives. The pizza is a spongy stuff loaded with cheese and tomato with garlic. The pasta... the usual carbonara abroad poena di panna. They could have at least told us when we booked!"
