"People often ask what it is that I miss the most from home. Family is the obvious one, a flaky buttery croissant or flâner on market day and wonderful places like le potager des demoiselles. On the eve of heading back to Dublin, we thought of trying something new. The menu was small, which I always prefer, marrying beautiful sounding ingredients and wine pairing to boot! We were not disappointed… it is not often you visit a place for the first time, and yet the owner makes you feel like a regular within 10 minutes. You are happy to let the choices of wine being made for you and what a journey! Time is spent transporting you through various terroirs, a terres salées perfectly matching beautiful scallops, yet taking on the robust flavour of the truffle or the tale of a Grenache made by a friend, which apart from being the perfect marriage to a rich chocolate, hazelnut and pear tart, you can see yourself sipping by the fire on a cold Irish night. Nothing is left unchecked… a 2016 champagne comes with a complementary amuse-bouche, a radish tartar cutting through the bold taste of a perfect herring bite size croquette… I could not finish this without mentioning Jules, such humour, care and interest! All I can say is see you in July!"
