"Me and my husband went here 25/3/19 my husband wanted to take me out on a dinner date, from the beginning I realised that restaurant was bad from the dirty glasses to the dirty cutlery and food marks on the plates! As we complained the member of star who was serving us actually blew on the glass and wiped with napkin in front of us.I was disgusted and called on the restaurant owner who was shouting at staff at back with door open and worst with member staff who was serving our drinks!! At this point my partner encourage me to give the restaurant a chance after an abrupt apology and we had ordered our food.In starters we ordered samosa and pakoras the we’re stone cold inside and warm on outside!! The food is pre cooked and frozen nothing is fresh! The main took over an hour and in that wait I went to the toilet and again over hear the owner or manager speaking I assume their language at staff and could hear a lot of crashing and smashing noises wasn’t nice at all very upsetting.I told my partner when I got back from the toilet and he tried to comfort me at this point the food arrived ,they again had made and error in our order and again the food was cold in the middle and hot on outside so strange. We were to upset by then and my partner was also very upset the manager was not interested in our concerns and how upset I was .Absolutlely awful food, terrible service and badly talking to staff who I feel personally are illegally working there and have been extorted ,I will be taking further action as I’m very upset please please don’t waste your time and money here awful experience !!"

"Mothers Day at the Goldthorn. First course Leek and Potato soup, While I rarely put salt on anything I eat, or cook with salt for that matter this particular bowl of soup had no rich base and was under seasoned to the point of being tasteless. With a couple of lonely croutons there was more flavour in the glass of water I had on the side. 3/10 I also had the opportunity to try a Caesar Salad which on the menu promised a topping of crispy bacon. Really? What appeared was fresh crispy salad, a small plus, but coated in a Caesar dressing that was over salted. The crispy bacon had been substituted with tiny pieces of chopped processed ham. A disaster. 2/10 For the main course it was Roast Loin of Pork on a bed of mash, seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes. It could have been hotter, the mash which incidentally was probably either ready made or a Smash variety was cold. The two thin slices of Pork Loin sitting on top dry as a desert around the edges. The gravy though, wasn’t bad, nicely seasoned and not too thick to pour. 2/5 The vegetables were a mixture of over cooked frozen chopped green beans that had gone a shade of grey, under cooked sliced leek and watery cabbage. The carrots were fine except for the one on my plate with a long black hair stuck firmly to it. The roast potatoes must have spent sometime in a rain forest, the skins wet and rubbery and no longer crisp, probably heated in a steam oven or microwave. They did not have light and fluffy centres. It certainly was not piping hot, more a tepid British summers day. 1\5 Finally I finished off with Cheese and WIld Berries. Perfectly in order the cheese cake light, the base crumbly and the berries tart. Perfectly in order except for the large thumb print on the top. 3/5 I also tasted the Triple Choc Gateau which was in fact nicely balanced, with a light sponge and not overly sweet. 4/10 The coffee was fine. As I was a guest and not paying the bill I kept this matter pretty much under my hat (which I was not wearing at the time) as it would have been rude to my hosts. However it was a set menu, was not that expensive considering it was three courses and coffee. All credit to the staff, they were friendly and courteous. 5/5 I actually felt nostalgic for a few moments as it reminded me of school dinners served to me in the 1970’s, in a school not so far away….."

"My friends booked Anju’s for dinner. We are all mums and it can be difficult to meet up so when we do it is a treat. We were greeted and shown to our seats by our waiter. Our starter came out i must say wasn’t the best the chicken was soo rubbery, nonetheless we ordered our main which took around 25 30mins to come. The waiter was so uninterested in his job plonked the food and left. There were no utensils on the table they were removed with our starter plates, we had to take them off the empty table next to us. No one came to check if everything was ok with a meal. Plates were removed but then no one came to ask if we wanted dessert. We waited for ages eventually I had to get up and ask to be served. The waiter came to our table and asked what we wanted we had to tell him we needed dessert menus to choose which he went and got. Desserts ordered (which by the way weren’t much of an option). Rupen rai (Oriental chap) came and gave us our bill but we were left sat there for ages, which i had to get up again and ask if someone could come and take payment from us. I asked the lady taking payments if i could speak to the manager. There wasn’t a manager on shift instead the supervisor who was our supposedly waiter Rupen I advised we wasn’t happy with the service we received tonight, if there was anything he could do that would salvage the night for us, as expected without hesitation he said no nothing he could do. His only explanation was it was a busy night for them, my friend who had been before advised Rupen it was not busy as she has been previously and she has seen it busier. There were tables around us that were empty... which he seemed to accept and report he could only apologise. I stated I would be making a complaint to his manager. Asked him for the managers details which he then stated there was not a manager. I chose not to believe that he then went on to say he is currently on leave. I asked for the managers name and email but he advised he did not know it only that his name is Vinith (didn’t know surname can you believe that? How do you not know your managers full name). He gave me his own email address and stated he would pass it on to the manager. Given he had lied about there not being a manager initially i cannot trust he will actually pass the email on. This was a very disappointing night for us especially as mums we look forward to these rare nights out. I have been to many restaurants this is by far the worst service i have ever recieved! I would not recommend anyone to eat here, they do not deserve your hard earn’t money."
