"A bit out of the way for us, but the pizza might be worth the trip! We visited on a saturday night, and, although it was quite late the restaurant was very full: at least big groups: birthday party, an Italian family...reunion, and a sort of funny Mafia' theme party... We got a small table next to an open door (towards a small terrace), but luckily the weather was still very nice for this time of the year. The restaurant has a nice italian feel, but not OTT with decorations. The service was reasonably fast if considering how full the restaurant was. The visitor who gave a poor review below must have been incredibly unlucky, and frankly I cannot explain such a difference in behaviour, since the place was actually buzzing with children (italian children to be precise) running around, playing and being all but quiet... almost a bit too much to be honest, but I'm certainly not the type of person who would actually complain about something like this. Coming to the important part: the food: we ordered antipasti to share, a pizza each and some house wine. The antipasti were average: nice, but nothing you couldn't find at your local supermarket. I guess it is a must to have them on the menu, but not everybody puts the same love' into them. The pizzas, on the other hand, were excellent! My husband had the Gabriel (with all you can think of), and I had a classic parma ham and rucola'. The dow was perfectly crunchy, thin but not burned, and the toppings very really flavoursome: delicious. Just one little minus point for the tomato sauce, not as amazing as the rest... although on the Gabriel you wouldn't have noticed, because of so much topping, on the milder ham and rucola it could have been tastier. Absolutely no space for dessert. So, in this case, the pizza really tips the balance to the *. Worth a re-visit to try the Tiramisù."

"update from 24.02.2018 so, an update is so slow, because the grill world existing since 1991 still offers good food in the form of first dishes, pizzas, gyros and co., of which I could convince myself in the form of a delicious carving. for a long time, the sohn of the vater in the second generation has passed the rudder way there. when the woman was not at home at that time, (again) it was not always worth swinging the cooking spoon itself, and then the first time was pushed on the desengrill in the bite. there was then the grill – the world at the horatherstrasse more than a good alternative. On the one hand, it was possible to see the preparation that all came fresh on the teller, the services were then and also at the next visit there friendly, it narrowed so far very good and finally the prices are more than moderate, they can choose between small and large portions and the drinks, whether alcohol-free or not, are also to take with them. I had climbed al forno. plentiful maccaroni, brush breast, broccoli fresh paprika and tomato, baked with a delicious cream sauce. more under: [here link] a gyro, had to be back, a salad plate and spagetti – bolognese came quickly, fresh and tasty here. Conclusion: now it has eaten several times and ordered something, the grill world has now earned from me all 5 for taste, price performance, fastness and friendliness. and last autumn still a call from garden friends, they are in the garden? ach, and we also have something hungry! ps., that runs more often among us! so short on the grill world: please a pizza leaf for 4 5 people with thun, ham and spinat. approx. 30 min. later I could pick up everything, the pizza in sufficient stock cut for 20,60 €, 1 fl. cola, 1fl. sprite to every 2,10 € and the day was saved. this is not a problem there. so: always happy!"

"I haven't experienced such a rude thing in the gastro yet! I ordered two espresso to go yesterday with my escort at the Cafe Herzog My accompaniment was asked for sugar for his espresso, which I did not come with (I was not asked). The bartender then poured the sugar into both espresso (which would have been ok). When I noticed it at the first sip, I asked only nicely for a new espresso without sugar, because he wouldn't taste me that way. NO GO! The bartender responded extremely patty to my request and asked me why I would hire myself and you would have to drink it anyway with sugar, and that they were just in stress and THE CUSTOMER DOCH AUFPASSEN MUST and it would not have been his mistake. As if that weren't enough, he didn't want to accept my 10€ appearance because it has a 1cm crack on the side of the long side and the machine wouldn't accept this vllt, just as I did the espresso absolute harassment. I was standing in front of the bar and could hardly believe what was being accused of a new espresso. Even guests who had to attend the whole spectacle could just shake their head. I realize that a person doesn't make the whole store. However, if you read the reviews, you can see that it was not a single case and that the assessments go very far away, which seems to me personally questionable. Conclusion: As a potential guest, I would think about going there three times."

"It has been a few years since I first opened at the Cafe (Restaurant) Simonz. It must have a reason why it first stayed at this single visit. But now the opportunity came to be a guest again. A friend from the media scene wanted to discuss a few things with me. That his office and also his residence in the Wuppertal district of Arrenberg is his proposal for our meeting that Simonz . I could suppress my manageable enthusiasm, which is not a problem with an SMS. So to the Arrenberg district, which I always visit with mixed feelings. There are some activists in the scene talking about Arrenberg, but I don't feel right there. The Simonz is located between many old and many buildings in need of renovation. Before that I looked at the Simonz's homepage. Now let's say it, my enthusiasm was equally clear. But noticeable on the homepage of the note that there is one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the city. That is precisely why we did not convince ourselves of this company as it were years ago. Hasimausi and I were at that time exactly the opposite opinion. We experienced one of the worst beer gardens in the city. So from Cafe Simonz, added with a low expectation. And it didn't get better after I stepped in. It looked exactly as I remembered. The chairs, tables and even more came from different periods. Their visible wear had to suffer the chairs 50 years ago (or even longer). Bad tongues would speak of trash furniture. But there are design-oriented people who find the chic, in and trendy. But we better leave this little targeted discussion. My acquaintance was already on site that cafe/restaurant was clearly filled. I'll never feel good here. Well, my opinion is not decisive, the Simonz is probably already about 10 years (estimated) and can obviously claim. An operation brought the cards. Maps in a restaurant I don't read intensively at first, but read them first across to immediately detect any positive incidents. In this card I stumbled several times about the terms Bio, Vegan, Meatless, Oat and Soy. Well, I thought my part. If I had said what thought had been formed in my head, Hasimausi would have punished me. But she was not present. Well, well, we were both my acquaintance and I were arranged to discuss a few things here and not arranged to enjoy a nice dinner here. Therefore, our desires to operate were somewhat oriented towards snacks/hips/small gastric fillers. Positively, the beer brand Pinkus from Münster was offered. A small, fine regional brand (Pinkus Müller) from the bicycle town of Münster. Here in the Rhineland a rarity. My colleague had opted for the salad plate with goat cheese, honey and nuts and ordered a rarbarb Schorle. In comparison to the Kölsch is Rhabarber Schorle................................ Oh, let's go. While we discussed and discussed our topics, I had the opportunity to look around. That I didn't like the ambience, I don't have to emphasize again. That was all far away from style or a certain gastronomic elegance. There may be critics who would speak of a quite simple equipment, but even that would have been too thick. No Birkenstock sandals and also no woollen stockings (sorry for the next prejudice), but still something green links oriented. Well, I didn't want to have a feel-good evening here, but for half a business conversation you need an acceptable ambience. Now a mixture of the former and now aged alternative green list and some from the 68s movement. In addition, younger and medium-old voters by Robert Habeck and certainly also by Dr. Anton Hofreiter. But there were also some suitcases. Our food was served. My astonishment was more than great when I saw the salad plate of my acquaintance. Big, wide, high and much. Yes, too much, at least measured with my standards. Or badly formulated, a rabbit could have mutilated for 2 days. However, without the abundantly portioned goat cheese which rested on the top of the kilo salad, for rabbits hardly eat cheese. My friend was also surprised. He praised everything. Salad in its variety and also in its freshness. Also my penne with stripes from the ragsteak was generously portioned, at least the pasta. However, in the stripes of the Rumpsteak the cook was recognizably economical. When I then brought my first loaded fork to my mouth, I was far away from a satisfaction. When the cook has prepared the Italian pasta in a pot with hot water, he may have called it loudly into a pot al dente, al dente, al dente but he has probably not listened to any of the noodles. The noodles prefer a soft consistency. And the stripes of the Rumpsteak? Acceptable average. It is possible to prepare better and also to observe the quality of the meat more carefully. I was only satisfied with the planned Parmesan. But this was about 0.5% of the total unprecedented pasta work. Conclusion: The evening was successful, based on our conversation. We reached agreement and then consumed one or other cold drink. My acquaintance passed away from Rhabarber Schorle (a good decision) and changed to a Bad Bio Grauburgunder, which he expressly praised. Since we hadn't had to drive anymore, I changed from Reissdorf Kölsch to the beer of Pinkus Müller. Also very fresh bread with neat dips, which was probably not made by Handelshof. The evaluation of the food is not easy. My acquaintance was very satisfied with his salad, we interpret school grade 2 from it. I can only leave a smooth 4 with my dough. In other words, good 2.5 stars for food. The service was striving not to establish a relationship to the guest. I have extensively informed about the ambience. When we left the house, my view fell into the already autumn beer garden. At the time as today, I could not see one of the most beautiful beer gardens in the city, as it is on the Simonz homepage. ps. My acquaintance was informed in advance of the content of this review. He can sign everything that way, but has something ****? Why? Now he expressly insists not to belong to a group of green Robert Habeck pendants. I congratulate him."

Al Howara

Al Howara

Bembergstrasse 20, Wuppertal I-42103, Deutschland, Germany

Vegetarier • Mittelmeer • Libanesisch • Orientalisch

"Sometimes one wonders why there are restaurants that you visit again and again, although you already know their one or other small weaknesses due to multiple experiences. To Al Howara in Wuppertal, we are always moving back because we like Arabic cuisine in the meantime and the other two Arab restaurants the Mamounia has opened again in the city not to reach the quality of Al Howara. In addition, we are not pea counters looking for deficits and complaining immediately of every smallest deficiency. The overall impression is decisive. To the small weaknesses later more. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of the city, minutes from the Wuppertal Hbf. About 10 years ago at the present site in a former textile factory, the house has certainly already been on the hump for a good 100 years. In front of the cellar windows flows directly the Wupper, a river in which salmon and trout now feel very well. Maybe in 10 or more years you can just leave the fishing out of the cellar window. When you enter the Al Howara, you are in another very oriental world. The restaurant is maurically furnished oriental and decorated accordingly. Even the window borders have an adapted design. If you look through the windows first visitors are mostly surprised to see and hear the Wuppertaler Schwebebahn, which passes directly past the windows. However, after 10 years, one or the other in the Al Howara should be reworked or renovated. With a few space dividers and a different floor covering, you could definitely reduce the noise level with full load, because it is already limit value. This should not be understood as a criticism, only as a suggestion. We were kindly greeted by a young lady, the reserved table was located near a window nice and welcoming. The lady immediately took the cards and asked if we already had drinks wishes or would like to decide what to eat. Now we had drinks. My lady once again ordered a Lebanese white wine, although he actually always has too much acidity after her statement. Although wine is cultivated in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and also in Lebanon, there are no high-quality wines except for a few exceptions, but as table wines are as good as possible. Allah already knows why he actually opposes the consumption of alcohol and therefore does not give the believers the best wine. I restricted myself to a beer from German lands, although good beer is brewed in the Middle East and North Africa. However, many breweries have been purchased there by an unknown brewery from the Netherlands. Let's hope the Heinecken doesn't paint the beer orange at some point. Well, the wine was served and Hasimausi does not charge the high acidity. I was amazed. My beer was tapped oriental. Because we knew the card, we didn't need to think about it for a long time. We ordered 20, Euro the 15 small plates with cold and warm appetizers. Anyone who wants to enjoy Arabic food should always order a selection of the numerous appetizers Mezze. It is not possible to make a mistake in principle. As main dishes, we chose a lamb-back fillet for my lady just under 17, Euro and for me lamb lamb lamb chop poultry for just under 19, Euro. The friendly Fatima name explicitly changed the order and meant we had chosen the right one. The restaurant increasingly filled, as almost always when we have eaten here. Fatima was back at about 15!! It is common that the announcement takes place on each set plate, which is just served. These announcements are available in every Arab restaurant whether in Allemagne or 3,000 to 3,500 kilometers southeast of here. Now I would like to admit that at an advanced age, you can hardly notice more than 7 or 8 contents of the plates. Here, however, try: roasted cheese, eggplant puree, cucumbers with a lot of yoghurt, dough bags filled with lamb, wine leaves filled with cheese cream, various fish pastes, lamb chops, prawns in olive oil, etc. A lot of warm fladen bread. Olive oil is generously used in the appetizers. Garlic once more less. To admire Hasimausi I checked the 15 appetizers very carefully. Known people had told us that recently in Al Howara the appetizers would be served less fish and hard meat. If a restaurant does this and the green area goes up, it can only have two reasons. Either you reduce the proportions of fish and meat to save in shopping, because, as is well known, the purchase of goods for green food is much cheaper or you follow the current vegetarian and even worse the vegan trend wave, which is completely flooded in Germany. There is nothing to say about this, as long as this wave does not reach me and meets me. When looking closely, it did not reveal what I feared. The proportion of meaty and fishy products was still good 50%. So the Al Howara was not on the way to the Veggie restaurant. For Allah a very warm thank you Shukran . We were once again very satisfied with the appetizers and praised the next time only to order the smaller variant 10 small plates. It'll probably be back on this line. Fatima carefully asked if she should wait a little while serving the main dishes. Thankfully we said yes and Hasimausi ordered a Lebanese white wine. You know, he's supposed to have so much acidity. My recommendation that the lamb would be more suitable was ignored. As desired, a colleague from Fatima served the main dishes somewhat later, on the rustic, colourful ceramic plates used in Arabic countries. The lamb fillet intended for Hasimausi made not only visually a good impression. My lady expressly confirmed the pink quality and that the meat is very tender. The salad looked just as sweet, but the volume of Basmati rice appeared to me somewhat oversized. Who needs so much scented rice? The chilisauce served at my lady for a short time had you to answer yourself. My spontaneous advice to fight the chili breathlessness with acidic wine from Lebanon has triggered a toxic look. Also on my plate there were plenty of Basmati rice served. My little lamb fillet, the lamb meat and the chicken meat all without a tadel. Almost perfectly prepared, a really good meat quality. A rather inconspicuous salad. But the yoghurt garlic sauce to meat, spicy, delicious, great. High level of satisfaction, with a restriction. As already experienced in the past, the dishes in the Al Howara kitchen should be arranged with a little more care. The eye is known to eat. That's why, of course, you don't have to hire a foodstuff list, but make a little more careful the plates, would be good for the Al Howara. Mrs Fatima served and asked for our dessert wishes. I'm sorry, but after the appetizers and the main dishes that are not as economical, we wanted to confine ourselves to Arabic coffee with a digestif. Unfortunately, as in almost all Arab restaurants in Germany, the map does not offer any spirits from Arab countries, although there is one or other good product, such as Boukha. A fig fire from North Africa, which can withstand quite good German fruit fires. Or alternatively and especially suitable for the women's world, the Thibarine, a tasty liqueur from Datteln, where even Udo Lindenberg Likörchen Udo would have his joy. For 20, or 30, Euros per bottle depending on the quality, you can order these Arab digestif gastric lubricants online without any problems. Why they are offered in Arabic restaurants in Germany almost nowhere is a mystery. The ambience of Arabic! The food Arabic! But at the digestif the guest is to drink a grappa or Ramazotti from Italy? Or even worse, an ouzo from the EU subsidised Greece? Or much worse, a hunter brew! Conclusion: We were satisfied. In the past, the service sometimes acts a little organized and sometimes a bit rustic. That was not the case today, on the contrary. Attention, flutter, friendly and always an eye for empty plates and empty glasses. That's about 4.5 stars. The food has earned 4 stars, with optical improvements certainly next 4.5 stars. We value the ambience with 3.5 stars, as it would have to be refurbished one or the other, and you should also work on the sound level. Nevertheless, the overall impression deserves 4 stars. Shukran!"
