"I booked a table in the Restaurant for 27/8/18 on 4/8/18 and this was confirmed. On 26th August I received a booking reminder Confirmation 171 regarding a table for 2 on 27th August at 18.00. This was to be a special meal for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. On arriving we were told that there was no trace of our booking but not to worry there was a table available. The menu presented to us had a VERY limited choice of main courses however we ordered and the food duly arrived, Both courses were swimming in fat/oil and one was barely eatable (Pappardelle Pasta). I was only able to eat a small amount as the fat/oil was overpowering. We decided not to risk a sweet, paid the bill and left. However we did notice that other diners were eating meals that were not shown on the menu we were given. We will certainly not be dining with you again and made our feelings known to to our hosts in Goathland as did another couple who dined in the bar and they also were far from happy with the quality of their meal. To cap it all, because of the fat/oil I was not well afterwards! A bad end to our Anniversary."
