"Ordered a takeaway late in the evening and the food arrived on time that was the only plus point. In fact, it would have been better if the food didn 't arrive at all! We ordered the Chicken Jalfrezi and Pilu rice and the Jalfrezi was just awful! It looked like the 'Chef ' threw some chicken pieces into a wok and put watery ketchup all over it. My wife and I later had stomach issues so I guess the hygiene at this place isn 't the best. My advice? Stay away! Unless you are at the point of starvation, in that case just order the poppadoms! F"

"Ordered one meal for one person for £9 and one meal that was advertised for two to three people at £16. The meal for one had more meat than the larger meal which was basically a Tupperware full of rice. Really disappointed. Also it’s just dawned on me that if all their food is cold and has an option of being heated at an extra cost it’s not freshly cooked and we have no idea how long it’s been in the fridge. I will never order from here again and I suggest you try somewhere else"

"The atmosphere was nice, but the restaurant was empty except for a food critic. The food was mediocre and lacking flavor, quite unexciting. I will not be returning. The service was cold and distant. The music was terrible, with popular pop songs mashed up into remixes. I will not be going back and do not recommend this place."

"The food was excellent, but unfortunately, the service was lacking this time. They were short-staffed, which isn't ideal for Valentine's night. However, the staff was very apologetic and honest about the reasons for the slow service. The lighting was quite bright, with some downlights shining directly in our faces, which took away from the romantic atmosphere. Despite these issues, the quality of the food is always worth the few pounds it costs."

"Where to start. It’s probably best to look at the photos tbh. The ‘poppadoms and pickle tray’ was this abomination of a poppadom. Minus a pickle tray. The bhatooray (naan) was a laughable mess of half cooked whatever. The dried beef….well. Extra naan didn’t turn up. The food arrived half cold. This entire tray of food was £56. No doubt there will be a reply saying ‘we’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your food blah blah blah’ but sending this shambles out for £56 is a joke. Basically, go somewhere else."

"Zamana is our top choice for a meal. We absolutely love the food, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the decor is so inviting. The dishes are fantastic, especially the starters, tender lamb chops, chaat, and lahori boti. The lamb and chicken karahi paired with warm, soft naan are simply delicious. Don't miss out on the gajar halwa for dessert—it's a must-try! The owner is always welcoming, and they go out of their way to accommodate us, even during busy times. I highly recommend giving Zamana a try; you won't be disappointed."

"The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. However, I believe there should be more sauces provided with the poppadoms. For a group of four, there should ideally be four bowls—two at each end—so that everyone can easily access the sauces without having to stretch. Unfortunately, the noise level and the language used by other customers were quite inappropriate, and the waitstaff did not address the issue."

"This is my happy place. It's easily my favourite lunch place in Edinburgh. Great if you're on a budget and great for bringing a friend or two as they cater for vegans vegetarians as well as meat-eaters. My go-to is the chicken masala wrap but I'm told the rest of their food is amazing as well. 10to10 is an integral part of my Fringe experience year on year"

"This was our first experience with Curry Republic, and it certainly won’t be the last! We ordered delivery for 7 o'clock, and it arrived right on time. The delivery person was very polite, and the food was hot. I have a sensitivity to nuts and coriander, so I mentioned this when placing my order. The staff assured me they would inform the chef, and they did. My curry was the best I've ever tasted—huge, juicy pieces of chicken, and there was no nuts or coriander in sight. My partner also enjoyed his meal. I'm really pleased to have found a local restaurant that pays attention to special requests! I highly recommend Curry Republic, and we will definitely order from them again."

"fancied an indian meal for lunch, not much choice admittedly at that time to delivery. Opted for this restaurant as sounded authentic. firstly the keema naan was stale, like the dough was yesterdays and not the freshness you often get with freshly opened naan and it was rock hard like a roof tile. my samosa again was rock hard, like yesterdays stock or frozen, not the usual freshly made taste. the samosa's pastry was like a biscuit, not the satisfactory chew of decent ones. my onion bhaji was ok, but not crisp but edible. it really is never a good idea ordering lunch delivery.... when some eateries use up old stock of yesterday, things like vegetables is fine but old dough, pastry items don't taste great. Plus being in the food catering industry, i know all the tricks. probably would of had a much better meal at the restaurant during a busy night where everything is fresh and chef's are at work."

"Visited whilst staying in the area. Very busy which is usually a good sign. All tables, including us, had quite a long wait for food though. We had poppadoms followed by starters (vegetable samosa and onion bhaji) Poppadoms were not great as they were burnt but dips were very nice. Starters were ok. My husband said his bhajis were very good. My samosas tasted lovely but were a little on the cold side. Mains consisted of a chicken tikka jalfrezi and a mint lamb bhuna. Both tasted nice but pieces of the meat in both were tough. £50 including a lemonade and a pint of Cobra so average Indian Restaurant prices. Would possibly visit again. Nothing major to fault but nothing had the wow factor."

"The food here is excellent and all the staff are friendly and willing to attend to anything you need. I am a disabled lady, and they made sure I was safely sat at a table and they got anything I asked for. The food is extra special, and one thing here in particular, your food arrives on like a huge wok and is kept hot while you are eating your meal. I have had kebabs as a takeaway on a regular basis, and the kebabs are so jam packed full of meat, we only ever need to order one as there is enough food for two people, if not three to eat and be full. Highly recommended. You even get to watch the cooks in action as it is an open kitchen. We go back time and time again, and the quality never fails. Never had a bad meal yet from there. Well worth a try and you will want to go back there."

"I would try a different curry house before ordering again. Really fatty lamb, rogan josh sauce was good however. Garlic naan pakora were nothing special."

"We stumbled upon this curry house by chance and it looks more like a cafe than a traditional restaurant. They have a hot cabinet with dishes ready to eat in or take away, all of which are homemade and cooked over several hours, rather than simply adding sauces to meat. This family business has been operating for 15 years and they also offer the option to cook any curry you desire. The food was fast and delicious, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We would definitely recommend this place."

"I had a wonderful dining experience with great food and excellent service. I visited around noon on a weekday and was seated promptly. The menu offered a wide variety of options, featuring North Indian, South Indian, and Indo-Chinese cuisines at reasonable prices. The service was impressive, and the food was delicious, served hot and in a timely manner. The portion sizes were generous as well. I ordered samosas and the North Indian thali. The samosas came in pairs, and the thali included dal, chana masala, paneer, aloo palak, a choice of poori or chapati (two pieces), papad, rice, salad, raita, gulab jamun, and an extra samosa. The only downside was the taste of the gulab jamun, which felt a bit stale. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it!"
