"As a typically grumpy individual who rarely leaves reviews, I feel compelled to make an exception for this restaurant. With 45 minutes to spare, we stopped in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. This was undoubtedly the best English breakfast I have ever had outside of my own home. Each component was prepared with attention to detail, resulting in a meal that exceeded all expectations. The sausages and hollandaise sauce were particularly standout items. "We arrived just before and were the first diners in . The Covid precautions seemed to be comprehensive but not unnecessarily obtrusive , there were bottles of hand sanitiser on every table . We were immediately shown to our table and able to order drinks immediately. Shortly afterwards our food orders were taken by a friendly waiter. The food arrived in a reasonable time cooked to order and was excellent quality and reasonable sized portions.By the time we had finished the restaurant area was filling up but there was not too much noise. I popped outside for a vape and it did take me a while to get back to my table due to queing at the 'one way' covid system but this didn't impact adversely. The staff were , by now, quite busy and it did take a while to get our bill , but we were in no particular hurry so wasn't a big deal. Overall a very enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings with friendly , if a little busy, staff"

"Recently visited this cafe with my wife for breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent served nice and hot in a timely manner. The cafe was extremely busy when we visited but everyone who came through the door was treated exactly the same. The most impressive part of the visit, was when a group of disabled people came in they noticed them straight away made a way through the que to a table. Not always what you get these days but amazing attention to all customers no matter what their circumstances."

"We booked and attended during COVID times so please bear that in mind when reading. The wifi didn 't work and there was nothing to say that they knew of the problem, so spent ages (add did many others because mobile reception is poor in the area) trying to log in to order food and check in with the COVID app before asking and finding it would just say 'connecting please wait '. We ordered and then waited 90 minutes for the food. Shortly after ordering a burger we were told that they had run out of all burgers. A short time later another table had the same response but then were told that they had one left. The food was OK but certainly not up to the prices quoted. The soup was luke warm and in desperate need of seasoning. Mac and cheese tasted like it had come from a tin. It possibly hadn 't but that was the impression. The pork curry tasted like pork in blitzed tinned tomatoes with some onion and pepper to give some spice. Again, needed seasoning. Just nothing special. They did provide (unrequested) some free bread and dipping oils whilst we were waiting. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The Deverill beer, a local ale was excellent and tasted well conditioned. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The pub was scrupulously clean with good COVID compliance. We would go back to give them a second chance these are difficult times especially for the hospitality trade."

"My friend and I meet up and visit here for a chance to catch up, five or six times a year. We keep returning because we like the atmosphere, we can sit and chat and enjoy our meal in a very pleasant environment. The Menu is very appealing, it seems to vary a bit from season to season. We are yet to try the Steak Night. The Specials are always tempting and we always enjoy our meal. Stay are friendly and service is good. I would recommend this venue for a quiet meal out. We will certainly return."

"We often come here for Sunday carvery which is very good so thought we would try an evening meal for my Mum's birthday. I am afraid the overall service let down the whole experience. When we arrived, instead of being taken to our table by the waitress, she just pointed and said you are at that table over there. After being to a busy bar area to get our drinks we found out that the 2 waitress standing around did not take orders so we had to go back to the busy bar again and wait to give our food orders. When the food came it was very good, especially my seafood platter. Everyone thought the food was good except for my Mum who had gone for one of the specials. It was so poor especially for being a special. She had one tiny piece of fish with no sauce, 4-5 very small new potato's, a few carrots and a few bits of broccoli. All the veg was hard and there was not enough to satisfy even a person with the smallest appetite. We told the waitress about the hard veg but she just said oh right and there was no apology. When we spoke to the chap at the bar and said why don't the waitress take the orders he said he liked people to come to the bar so the staff could meet them. We all felt this was a lame reason and probably did not trust the teenage waitresses to take the orders. It is a real shame as the place is lovely and the food generally is pretty good but is missing a professional touch. We said we would not return for an evening meal but just stick to the Sunday Carvery."

"Bought a cheese and ham slice and traditional beef pastie. I was asked if I would like my slice warming up and said not if it was going to be soggy with grease. Same conversation for the pastie. The slice was heated to such an extent that it had to be double wrapped so as it could be safely handled. Unfortunately the slice was soaked in fat, floppy and looked more like a piece of bread soaked in fat. Absolutely repulsive. The shop assistant said I was being aggressive when I complained about it, which I wasn't and initially refused to do anything. Eventually I got a refund. The pastie was only marginally better. The table outside was filthy, we wiped it outself with handwipes. All in all, as poor an establishment as we've been too in a long while."

"we visit the bell and bear two or three times in the month because of their great selection of beer, but last night we had something to eat there. I ordered the chicken and bacon salad from the special board. wonderful, excellant worth for money, very healthy and hearty and obviously prepared with thought and passion! the presentation was very kreatiw, especially the balsamico dimmer as a middle piece with the other ingredients carefully arranged to give a beautiful color sprayer. I thanked the staff, and apparently it was the idea of one of the younger employees. I think they said her name was close? please give us our thanks to them and we look forward to seeing hannahs chicken bacon salad regularly on the menu."

"Awful place!! The manager is exteamly rude towards us and towards members of staff. The manager was very blunt and didn't make us feel welcome at all didn't make eyecontact. We had to ask if we could place our food order and felt like we got forgotten as we sat there waiting for 20 minuets and it wasn't even busy. Food is overpriced for what it is, when the food came out it was cold. The manager didn't make us feel welcome at all from the start we got there.
