"My family hasn’t visited The Hengist for a couple of years and was a little apprehensive in booking a table after reading the reviews. But- we thought we would give it another go. Our table was booked for 6pm, there were a couple of other diners already eating, the atmosphere was pleasant. Our drinks order was taken and these arrived in good time. Cocktails were lovely. We ordered a sharing board of bread, this was delicious. Main course, burgers for the ‘kids’ and husband and I had the lamb with an extra portion of chilli green beans. The food was very good, service was good. Staff all pleasant and professional. Desserts ordered were the brownies, mango sorbet and a vanilla ice cream. All what you would expect. I think if you haven’t visited this restaurant for a while- give it another try. Whilst it’s not a Michelin starred restaurant anymore, it was still a lovely place to get dressed up and enjoy a relaxing evening out."
