"The service wasn't great. No one seemed to know what they were doing. We ate Asian inspired and the salt and chilli chicken was so try it was hard to eat. The raspberry daiquiri was very bitter so not great. We were at an event in the radisson so was great that we could have something so close but all 8 of us wernt really impressed at all. "I was impressed with the speed with which the dishes arrived, although my friends began to order a few minutes before the table, and the tables were generally large enough to have a number of dishes without taking over! The Chinese New Year menu had some great dishes, e.g. mushroom the moss looked like hairball from a drain plug '' BUT standout was the hainanese? chicken with rice garlic diving!!! I decided to have Pu 'reh tea because it seems better suited than a glass of wine etc. Very pleasant decor that gives character but does not distract from food."

"Last night's takeaway was amazing! The prawn toast in the starter, perfect. The ribs, perfect, the spring rolls, extra crunchy and by far the best I'd ever had. The chili chicken main was incredible. You guys are by far the best Chinese takeaway in Derby and probably the whole of the Midlands. "I am writing this review on behalf of my Grandparents, who ordered a meal to accommodate 4 people from this establishment for their 2020 Christmas dinner. When trying to complain, the Manager was abrupt, dismissive, rude and only expressed an interest in the complaint when my Grandmother mentioned that she had taken photos of the food in question. This is a very lengthy review, but I would urge people to read to the end , as my Grandparents have experienced appalling service from the manager of this establishment, and people need to know about this. They ordered paid for 4 meals and starters over the phone. Upon collection of the order, it was clear that the order was incorrect and not up to a satisfactory standard for example the rice orders were wrong (3 fried rice instead of boiled rice some kind of congealed pineapple chicken dish was supplied instead of lemon chicken, the chicken omelette was salty and soggy as it had so much oil in the container, and the chips were very dry and salty. Not worth a penny paid, or worth the trouble my Grandfather took to drive to collect the order . As mentioned above, the manager was very abrupt and dismissive of my Grandmother 's complaint (his initial response being what do you want me to do about that .......Even though he could see this had ruined their Christmas meal (this was supposed to be a rest for my Grandmother who cooks the other 364 days of the year . He was very keen for my Grandmother to throw the food away, she offered numerous times to return it to his establishment, but his reply each time was to throw the food away. When my Grandmother mentioned that she had taken photos, and then went onto mention that she could post the photos on the internet, the manager suddenly changed his tune. After a lengthy phone call, it was agreed that another order could be placed, free of charge for 1st January 2021. My grandmother checked again to see if the manager wanted to see the food as proof he said that he didn 't want to see it, and they agreed that my Grandfather would collect at an agreed time. On 1st January my Grandfather arrived at the agreed time, and nobody answered the door. Eventually somebody answered, and the manager was summoned. He asked to see proof of the original order, and so my Grandfather (bear in mind we are talking about a couple who are in their 70 's went back to his car, got his phone and took it back to show to the manager the photos. The manager 's response being nice photos no food and sent my Grandfather away. In the freezing cold, on New Year 's Day. Utterly disgusting treatment of a formally loyal customer. On the upside, my Grandfather happened to notice that another establishment nearby was open Wok Wok. Even though he hadn 't placed an order with them in advance they very kindly offered to cook his food to order if he didn 't mind waiting. Their food was perfect, their service was second to none and my grandparents are delighted to have found a new Chinese take away that respects and appreciates their custom. So, in the words of my Grandmother goodbye Golden Crown and hello Wok Wok."

"I 'd been tempted by this place before so finally got round to trying it out. Was left feeling a tad disappointed. I had made a booking for 4 through 5pm.com as they had a deal that ran till 2 o 'clock. 3 of our party arrived...15 mins early but one was 10 mins late , so when it came to ordering the staff wouldn 't allow the deal even although 3 out the 4 were already there before 2 o 'clock, no big deal but a bit petty in my opinion. So we then ordered off another menu that was fine. About 10 mins later the food started appearing but like 2 dishes at a time instead of all together which seemed a tad unprofessional i would say. The food was nice enough enjoyable. So when it came to paying this confused looking waiter (who had a very basic grasp of English) came over with the card reader what we could make out wanted us to pay cash (he had the card reader in his hand) when we told him that wasn 't an option for us he said ok contactless ? The bill came to £56 odd we said no we would put the pin in (as you normally do with transactions over £30) he seemed confused by this. Eventually we got there in the end but it was a stressful couple of minutes for no reason whatsoever. I 'm not sure I 'd return here but as I wrote previously our food was nice"
