"We had only eaten a takeaway meal from here before, but decided to invite friends to join us for a restaurant meal. We were not disappointed.The restaurant is situated upstairs above a fish and chip shop and is reached via a wellworn staircase. The restaurant itself is fairly basic but clean.The restaurant menu presented was quite comprehensive but by no means as full as the takeaway menu, especially in respect of the meatfish options for the curries. We soon found out that we could mix and match between the two. With so many choices, both Nepalese and Indian, a strength guide may have encouraged us to choose something less familiar.The restaurant was not full; this was probably because the location was not conducive to passing trade. Nonetheless it was constantly busy due to a high volume of takeaway orders.The food was superb. Flavours were both strong and subtle as required and portion sizes were generous we ended up with "doggie bags".We shall certainly pay another visit and our friends have already booked to take relatives there"

"My husband and I recently ordered takeout from this restaurant. I got a pizza, chips, and a can of juice for £9.50, while my husband got pakora, sauce, curry, rice, and naan for £10.50. I left to go home while my husband waited for the meal, which we thought was a good deal. However, when my husband tried to pay with a card, he was asked to pay more than once even though the machine had already accepted the card. It seemed like they were trying to pull a fast one, so be cautious when using a card here. They claimed the machine needed more paper and my husband had to ask for a receipt, which he wasn't offered. The meal itself was tasty, but there was more sauce than meat in the curry. Additionally, there was no can of juice in the bag, so be on the lookout for any missing items. The pizza was delicious and spicy, just the way I like it, but there was no diet coke included as there should have been."

"The food is consistent in quality, not amazing but nothing inedible. The highlight for sure was the matka gosht, cooked well, the meat was tender and sauce flavourful, if you pay a visit then order this for sure, along with a paratha or three. We also had a tava chicken which went down well. The machle la jawab is essentially chip shop masala fish served in your standard curry house base gravy. Lassawala gosht promises a lot but definitely does not live up to the hype. Everything on the mixed grill was overcooked and dry. The chefs need to revisit this for sure, some pieces like the tandoori chicken were left pretty much untouched, that's how tough and dry it was. The lowlight of the visit was nearly throwing up after smelling the mint sauce bottle. The waiter then told me that he had just filled it that morning and it was impossible for it to be off. Of course, he then smelt it himself and took it away promptly... The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable with a good atmosphere. Toilets are fit for human use (unlike the facilities in so many restaurants in Brum these days). Price is very reasonable."

"The chairs were old and dirty, and the toilets, while modern, were not well-maintained. The restaurant could benefit from an upgrade. The starters were tasty, but the main courses were overly salty. The chef apologized and prepared a new main course that was much improved. We received a discount on the bill as a gesture of goodwill. The service was friendly."

"We hadn't booked but we're warmly welcomed. We had 3 courses as it was our first time. Great shaslick, amazing tray of chutneys with poppadoms. We were very impressed with the mains. Naan was tasty and not burnt or crispy. Good saag aloo too. Home made style caramel ice cream and kulfi. Was £30 a head for 3 courses and poppadoms with 1 alcoholic drink each. Great value but also some of the loveliest service we've had. Also, lovely hot towels at end, unusual nowadays. Thank you. We'll be back."

"I moved to East Finchley two years ago and tried a lot of the local Indian restaurants, it's my favourite food, before trying Guru Tandoori which is on the end of my road (it's a long road, took a while to discover it! . "I recently dined at this new restaurant with my wife and son and was highly pleased. The vegetable dish was fresh and crispy, the tandoori chicken was delicious, and the other dishes were also excellent. The beer was cold, the staff was very polite, and the service was quick. We will definitely be back. It's worth noting that the restaurant is only open for lunch from 12 to 2:30 daily. However, there seems to be some confusion regarding their operating hours as the menu and website may indicate otherwise."
