"OK food, great service spoilt by rude and and aggressive manager. The maitre 'd was excellent. She is relatively new in the job and was delightful. However, the potatoes in my salmon dish arrived cold. She was most apologetic and asked the kitchen staff to redo it. Ten minutes passed and my partner had almost finished his chicken dish, and no waiters came by our table. I finally got out of my seat and asked about my salmon. The maitre 'd was upset the kitchen was so slow so I asked for 2 glasses of red wine by way of compensation. She said she 'd have to OK it with her manager. I sat down and could see her manager (Tom) giving her a telling off then he looked over at me and laughed! About 5 minutes later, the Manager delivered the salmon dish personally and slammed it on the table and rudely said 'salmon ' then stormed off. No smile or apology. Five minutes later 2 glasses of red wine arrived by a waiter. Meanwhile, I could see the Manager constantly confronting the maitre 'd in an aggressive and bullying fashion. We quickly finished our meal and left the wine unfinished, and headed off to find a more pleasant place for a drink. I 've stayed at the Hoxton many times but won 't be using their restaurant if that guy is around."
