"Came along for my friends bday, didn’t know this place even existed until tonight... We all had a great time, only planned on staying for an hour, 3 hours later we were still there!!! Our new favourite place now! Will defo be back! We were all awful at ping pong, so we were recommended by the smokin hot manager in the red jacket to try beer pong, and we had so much fun!!! The DJ was incredible and the staff were so friendly. The drinks were great, the cocktail happy hour was a little too tempting it’s safe to say! Amazing job Serve, you will be seeing us again soon x x"

"So very disappointed with my meal at the Mussel Inn. Have been here lots of times before and always had their seafood chowder. I have enjoyed and looked forward to it many times. But no more. Today 's chowder was bland, the fish and seafood had been ground down so it wasn 't chunky, it was watery and not creamy. It tasted cheap and luxurious as it has in the past. I also had a half pot of mussels in shallot sauce. These were delicious. The bread was fresh and crunchy but no butter. I can 't remember if I used to get butter automatically but it may be something you now need to ask for. I mentioned to the waitress at the time that the chowder wasn 't good and she returned it to the kitchen. When I asked her later what they had said, she said they just ignored me. There was no issue with the chowder being removed from the bill (it 's £11.90 for a large bowl so not cheap) but i won 't visit there again. I used to go as a treat, something for when I was child free in Edinburgh. If you want a good seafood chowder then go elsewhere. To give it it 's due, if you enjoy fresh mussels, then I would recommend it for that."

"Visited today to celebrate my Mum’s 60th birthday. We were a party of 4 and a high standard was set from the start. The door was opened to us on approach, the hostess greeting us with a polite smile and seating us promptly. Our coats were whisked away, and we were presented with beautiful menus and advised how the afternoon tea would proceed (spoiler the food is not all presented at once… it takes a good couple of hours! , and were shown a list of available loose leaf teas to choose from at our leisure. We opted to splurge and upgrade to the Champagne Afternoon tea, since we were celebrating a significant birthday for my Mum, and warned our wonderful waitress Angela that we would be asking her to take a fair few group pictures! Our group included 1 very fussy eater, and two with medically mandated dietary requirements, which we advised of both at time of booking, and when we were seated. We decided to be brave and throw caution to the wind (accepting adaptations for dairy and caffeine free as required and went with the flow, trusting the expertise of the team. We were also offered the choice of “pairing” our tea selections to each course (like pairing wine to a meal we decided to give it a go, with the assurance that we could switch to the tried and tested “English Breakfast tea” at any time… Pairing our tea turned out to be the best decision we have ever made, and a choice all 4 of us would thoroughly reccomend. With each different tea, we were given fresh china strainers “so you can truly appreciate the different flavours” Throughout our visit, Anglea was fantastic. She was attentive without being intrusive, shared a fantastic knowledge of the different teas availabe, and could not have been more helpful and fantastic. Her charm and attention to detail made a highly anticipated visit truly memorable. Additional highlights included the goats cheese, proscuitto and fig jelly sandwiches (divine! , the gentle soundtrack providing a pleasant ambiance to the room (especially when the Downton theme started playing as we poured our first cup of tea 4 very giddy Downton fans thoroughly approved! , the provison of dairy free pattiserie for the sweet course IN ADDITION to the usual goodies on offer, and the beautiful surprise of a “Happy 60th Birthday” plate because “our team wanted to recognise and clebrate the occasion with you wonderful ladies” Well worth the price tag. Definately something everyone should indulge in given half a chance!"

"The clams were not properly cleaned and the ritz-cracker crusted haddock was soggy. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but it has undergone a disappointing change. The food is overpriced for the low quality. I would recommend looking elsewhere."

"Visited the plough today with our lovely puppies. The staff were so accommodating and spoiled our dogs rotten. They even provide a doggy menu, how cute. Our dogs loved the doggy burgers and next time we might treat them to fish and chips! The human food was next level and after looking through their extensive menu I settled on the nut loaf roast. 6 hours later and I’m still full. My plate was piled high and every bite was a treat. My friend is an extremely fussy eater. He is still raving about his mixed grill and the ‘best sausages he has ever tasted!’ (and he has had his fair share of sausage! Thanks so much for a lovely afternoon. We hope to see you all again soon. X"

"The Pony Trap is a Michelin starred country pub run by Josh and Holly Eggleton in Chew Magna, around 7 miles south of Bristol. The pub places emphasise on a field to fork ethos and source food as locally as possible from suppliers around the Chew Valley and the South West. Chef Josh Eggleton was recently on the Great British Menu and has an impressive pedigree, having worked at the likes of The French Laundry and Chanterelle. During our visit last month we ordered the tasting menu at £60 per head along with the very competitively priced wine flight at £25. A selection of canapes were delivered including pork crackling quavers with apple purée, scallipops, pan fried scallops wrapped with pancetta and a celeriac soup with cheddar foam. The latter came with a delightful Parmeasan mustard palmier. The first course was squash, Stilton and chicory with pumpkin seeds. Nice and fresh with different textures including deep fried squash. HEC – Chefs take on ham, egg and chips with home cured bresaola, hens egg and watercress."

"We arrived for dinner around 8pm, and were surprised when our starters arrived before our drinks. We had only ordered bottles of coke and tap water, so it was particularly frustrating that it took approximately 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive. In the end, I had to go to the bar myself to get them. During our meal, we noticed that the couple next to us received their mains before their wine or any drinks at all. Although the manager attempted to apologize, it felt insincere as he rambled through the apology without making eye contact. At both dinner and breakfast, the staff started moving tables and chairs around while guests were still eating, which made us feel uncomfortable. Overall, this experience was disappointing and I hope it was just a one-time occurrence. Despite the delicious food, I am hesitant to return or recommend this restaurant based solely on the poor service I experienced, which left me regretting my choice of restaurant."
