"One of the best cafes/restaurant/bar in Hove another hidden gem. Went for a late lunch on their summer menu will definitely go back to try their pastries. Did not experience the concerns expressed by other reviews regarding the service. Service was amazing and quick, even though there were quite a lot of customers at that time. Food and coffees were exceptional. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the gravy was delicious. The sea bass was very fresh and was executed flawlessly by the chefs. The barrister is really well trained and professional best mocha I have had in Brighton and Hove."

"This is my favourite restaurant for special celebrations.We celebrated our wedding anniversary there yesterday. The starter with belly pork and quail scotch eggs was absolutely delicious. I had the duck main course and my husband had the chicken, both were excellent.For dessert I had the carrot cake,the combination of flavours was superb. The food is always wonderful at Chapter 1. Looking forward to celebrating there again soon."
