"We have visited Amore various times previously. Called last night to book Christmas Lunch menu for Saturday 9th December and secured a table for 3.15pm. When we arrived were handed dinner menu and following ordering drinks when we queried the menu we were advised that lunch finished at 2.45pm. We each had two courses with a soft drink one with a starter and both having lasagne as main and the other a sweet. Restaurant was busy as expected for time of year. Starter was prawns on sourdough and nice. Lasagne presented with absolutely no side salad or even a sliver of garlic bread all the sides are extra cost. Sweet was Eton mess and literally a scoop of ice cream a few crumbs of merengue and a single half a strawberry thinly sliced. Bill including the pre-added service charge was £74. Staff were courteous as always but we were sorely disappointed with our experience today."

"My husband and son and I decided to stop here for lunch one Monday. We arrived just after 12pm. Sat down, had our drinks and food order taken and my little boy needed to use the toilet. My husband took him to the public toilets which to his utter disgust where completely blocked and disgustingly dirty. He then tried to take him to the restaurant toilets and they where pretty much the same! Could not use them. He alerted a member of staff and it wasn’t even acknowledged and I took him to the female restaurant toilets which where not as bad but had definitely not been cleaned. We again spoke to what was meant to be a young girl duty manager. Her response was oh the cleaners mustn’t have been in?? Seriously? Is there not checks done before opening? If environmental health had of shown up they would have been shut down. We only ate our food because we had already ordered. My husband decided to email to advise of the dirty standards and never got a response, hence now the review. Absolute disgrace. Standards have dropped massively."

"We were lucky to get a table as the restaurant was full when we arrived, luckily someone was leaving so managed to get a seat straight away. Very popular place so be prepared to wait for a table at peak times. We had the porchetta and philly cheese and shared some poutine which was also amazing! Very glad I went with the fresh home made lemonade too was so refreshing. We sat at the window and was one of the best people watching restaurants ive ever eaten at which I loved. Definitely would go again if I visited Cambridge again. 10/10"

"Really disappointing afternoon tea. We were the only people in the vast restaurant. Arriving we were greeted by a lovely waitress who was Unfortunately finishing her shift. Scones were okay six scone yet only two small pots of jam. Sandwiches were okay nothing special. Cakes were basically the same. No pastries, tarts or meringues. All little sponge cakes. At £30 head I would have expected much better quality. Toilets were ghastly. Each cubicle was dirty and looked as though had not been cleaned for a week! It’s supposedly a highly rated hotel again one would have expected the toilets to be monitored… and reiterate we were the only people there! The only member of staff we saw was the one we paid who was new and couldn’t comment help. MacDonald Hotel Windsor you need to be much better."
