The pittabread was served in a clear plastic bag that seemed to have been heated in the microwave, causing it to become hard as soon as it was taken out. "If you are a fan of Lebanese food then this is the place to go. The Maroush umbrella consists of several restaurants under the name of Maroush, Maroush gardens, Beirut express etc etc. They have several branches all across London including 2 on Edgware road. My favourite order (what i order each time) is their chicken shorma with extra garlic mayo and fresh mango juice. The chicken showrmas have just the right amount of chicken and salad. Every bite has that crunch as well as the freshness from the lettuce and tomato salad. I agree it's a bit messy to eat it often but hey as long as you can lick of the dripping mayonnaise off your fingers, it's all good. I really love their mango juice. Its fresh and sweet and perfect drink with the wrap. The menu also has the normal items like falafels, hot and cold mezze platters along with curries and the Lebanese bread. For 10 pounds your stomach will be stuffed but you'll still want more thanks to the sheer taste of the food. I highly suggest this place!"

"had a terrible experience at this place. first, the restaurant had not booked my booking as I had booked via opentable. second, I sat in the worst possible table next to the kitchen, although there are other tables available as I decided not to go with the Valentine Set menu. third, the most disappointing of all, my wife served a dish with meat, when we had ordered specifically for a vegetarian dish. we had double checked with the waitress while we abandoned the order, but they still screwed up the order. my wife had never eaten meat in her life, but took a bit from the meal she served. that ruined us the night. to finish everything, the drink order was also grounded and we were served the wrong drinks. when they served the daiquiri I had ordered, it was the worst I had lived in. it was nothing but juice served in a glass for drinking water. it was a sweat! never return to this place."

"Disappointed to have booked and not be warned about the mezze being the only available option. Told when sat down. Not much option but to accept. Food great. Tried to charge for each of us there were adults and an year old and year old despite agreeing to do deal for the of them when we ordered. When asked for the bill I was over charged. They didn’t leave bill on table and just tell you the value and present the card machine immediately. I queried and he went to alter. I paid. I realised that in fact they had charged more than the first time. I ended up having to ask for a print out of the bill on my way out. He gave it to me. It wasn’t even our bill plus they’d charged for the set menu!!?!?!!. I wrote down what we had eaten and drank and we added it up properly together and he had indeed overcharged by He couldn’t refund the card and so gave cash. Lush food. If you go please check what’s on offer before you go. Then insist that the bill if left on your table like in a normal restaurant. This gives the customer the time to check all is well before paying. I really felt the chap was trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Don’t let them! He did the same to another table which had a couple and a young child of about or Charged The excuse was that he couldn’t deduct dine in because we only wanted set menus. Rubbish. We have eaten out all month in the scheme in restaurant in bristol and in central London and this is the only time I’ve heard this tosh. Chap could put whatever he wanted into the till ...it’s his restaurant. of us dined. x to come of bill. I found the whole invoicing experience poor and embarrassing."

"I visited here today, but I didn't end up eating two stars here, because I can't really say I didn't like it. there are many vegetarian options on the menu, but it is not quite clear which are vegan, although it should be like several options also vegan due to allergenic information. I asked the waitress about vegan options, and she looked confused and called me on the floor. he also looked confused and I explained what was vegan and he told me I could eat the falafel. I am not a big fan of falafel, and I asked about the salates tabouleh, etc. but he said that they are not vegan in the rule they are and there were no allergenic information to show otherwise. I think this is more a problem of the personal not really know what vegan food is, so I decided to go elsewhere."

"I went there with a group of 6 people as we were craving Lebanese food. The mezze was fine but the main dishes took more than an hour. We asked the guy to cancel the order because we had to go catch the coach but they refused and said that the food was coming so we had to wait 5 more minutes and I wish we didn’t! The food was so bad, the Shawarma was so dry and almost burnt and the rest of it was so tasteless. In the end I had to pay for that bad food, miss my coach and pay for another ticket... That was my first and last time I go there."

"Al Hamra may not top the list of the best Lebanese restaurants in London, but for a late bite in Mayfair, it is definitely worth recommending. It is quiet during the day, with a good selection of dishes. The hummus with pine nuts is delicious, and the lamb dishes are enjoyable. The salads, both sweet and spicy, are also worth trying. The tabbouleh is outstanding and the grilled meats are cooked well. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the coffee tastes delicious. Overall, the value for money is good and we will definitely be returning."

"If you like middle-eastern food, this is the place for you. Main dishes are good, but I recommend ordering several small dishes instead, its so much more fun. The selection of both hot and cold mezza (small dishes) is enormous. Feast on dishes such as Moutabel Baba Ghanouj (Baba Ghanoul witth grilled eggplant pureed in), Tabouleh (that faboulous salad with a parsley base), Hommos Bazenjan Al-Rahib (Eggplant with tomato, onion, mint parsley). All on the cold Mezza menu and all around £5. And/or go for the hot Mezza with wonderful grilled Halloumi, Falafel, Batata Harra (fried potatos vegetables), Jawaneh (grilled wings with the most incredible Med garlic aoli) and Soujok (a spicy sausage). Each dish between £6-7. Then there is the “Lebanese Pastry” selection, from £4-6, with the most incredible Lebanese “pies”: spinach onion, lamb pine nuts, Halloumi, etc. Shawarmas are £5-6. Vegetarians and non alike will be in heaven. The fresh juices are great too. Everything is incredibly fresh and delicious, service is relaxed and friendly and the room is serene and beautiful. "Unfortunately, this 1-star review is based on the fact that we didn't actually get to try the food. Booked online for lunch time and received confirmation email. Turned up a bit before booking time but after restaurant was supposed to be open. It wasn't. Door was closed and locked (there was a confused looking delivery driver waiting outside too who eventually gave up and left). While waiting, several apparent staff members turned up and had to bang on a side door to be let in, all pointedly not acknowledging our presence waiting outside the main door. Booking time arrived. Still closed and locked (and looking through window they didn't look like they were close to opening). Tried knocking. No answer. Tried phoning. No answer. Not even to apologise for running late. Booking time came and went. We gave up and left. If the website allows a time to be booked, and I book a specific time then I expect the restaurant to BE OPEN AND READY BY THAT TIME. And since this cost a long train ride into London, its not something I will risk again."

"Open late! Never fails me for a great end-of-the-night kebab. Have not ventured much beyond this and the hummus/other dips/tabouleh/halloumi which is all standard fare for this chain, but of those things none are ever a let down and the portions are extremely generous. Great juice as well, always friendly staff and wickedly tangy garlic sauce. The menu is actually quite substantial and they have a number of dishes which you don't see in every Lebanese establishment. Have yet to try, but they sound tempting."

"The restaurant staff blatantly lied to my husband and I just to refuse service to us, because we aren't white! I have given star because I can't give a negative one.To give a background, I used to pass by this restaurant many times and noticed it was always empty even though it looked nice. A couple of days ago, I understood exactly why! We walked in here at PM on a Saturday and the restaurant had no customers except a white elderly couple. Since this looks like a fairly casual place (and also because no staff was in sight) we proceeded inside and were just about to help ourselves to a table. Just as we were about to sit, this waiter walked out of the kitchen and very rudely asked what we were doing there "Hi, hello, what do you want Despite him being so rude, we asked if we could have table for two. Now this place has at least tables, each capable of seating at least people, and of these only one table was occupied with one elderly couple. Remember it was also only PM, far for peak hours. The waiter told us that ALL the tables were reserved. When I asked if all the tables were reserved, he said all of them were. When I asked him till what time, he said for all evening. Now this restaurant is open till in the night. I looked around and saw no reserved tags. He was clearly lying.We made our way out. If you believe every human should be respected irrespective of colour, class or creed, avoid this restaurant like the plague!"
