"I love Ethiopia/Eritrean food. I proclaim this place to be in london after about 20 different places of this kitchen. even if not all eating is vegan. I would give it 5 stars if I could. vegan food in Ethiopia has been part of culture for thousands of years. part of being pure for religious purposes. what I like about this place is how different the dinning experience is from the norm. they are encouraged to eat with their hands (traditional) and to share from the same plate (later not optional, unless to eat alone). the personal is beautiful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place."

"We finally made our first visit to this restaurant after planning for a long time. The food was delicious and well-seasoned, although it was a bit lukewarm, which could be typical of the country. The service was fast and very friendly, and they had no problem accommodating special requests (such as turning a meal for one into a meal for two). The only downside was that there was a loud group at the neighboring table, making it practically impossible to have a conversation. Despite this, we definitely plan on returning in the future."

"We were really looking forward to trying Adulis at Clapham Junction based on the reviews so we felt a bit let down by the service It all started off well with drinks and food order. One of our guests really enjoyed the meal itself. For me, the dishes on the platter were nice but the strong lemon taste of the bread distracted me a bit from the meal. The food took a very long time to come out and we had to follow up on it. After the mains were cleared, we were considering ordering the coffee as recommended but no one came by to ask if we wanted anything else so we were left to sit there for a while and ended up just asking and paying for the bill."

"This is a lovely restuarant and we really enjoyed going there. It was my son's suggestion that we meet there. The staff were lovely and so welcoming. The atmosphere was very relaxed. The food was very tasty and this is the only place I have ever been asked whether I wanted some more! For those diners who prefer to eat with cutlery, this restuarant may not be for you as it is intended that you eat the dishes with your hands by rolling the sauces in the injera that the sauces are placed upon. You can have cutlery if you wish of course! My only criticisms are that it isn't clear from the menu that the dishes are served with injera and that I would have preferred my injera was served warm rather than cold. However, my combination dish was all very tasty and the vegan platters were enjoyed by the rest of my party."

"I was looking for inspiration for an InterNations event and came to reach this very affordable, clean and easy. for most of us who visit it was our first time to eat éthiopien kitchen, waaaw everyone loved eating, it was a great discovery of the palette. all ordered Adams special combination dishes to taste the various dishes. the staff was friendly and very helpful, and I loved the fact that I was able to not have my eating too sharp. now for those who never tried injera before as I, I must warn them that it tastes tangie as they added lemon or edgy, but that is because this sponge flat brot from fermented sourdough. the atmosphere, the simple and authentic facility made this restaurant warm and cozy, we really enjoyed the experience and will soon be another event there host. a great thank you to the staff and the cook."

"We were excited to discover a new local restaurant and decided to book a table at Balseros for Saturday night. The Ethiopian cuisine, particularly the cod bowl, was outstanding, and the service was excellent as well. It was quite shocking that we were the only customers there. I truly hope this isn’t the norm because the restaurant deserves to thrive."

"The food, wine, and African beer were superb, absolutely delicious! Everything was freshly prepared, and you can even see into the kitchen. The owner is very friendly and attentive, we felt very comfortable and will definitely come back! The atmosphere is cozy, the ambiance detailed and tasteful! The reservation process also went smoothly, everything was perfect!"

"I got it via Deliveroo so can 't comment on the service or restaurant, aside from the fact it came earlier than the projected time. I got the vegetarian platter (in this case, container) and all the five options were amazing in their own way, full of flavour. It came with four injera, and I had the rare sensation of almost not being able to finish it all. Even the Greek salad, which I assumed would be a bit sad, was fresh and full of delish haloumi."

"we like the other reviewers thought that a big interesting place to eat before the theater. exactly the same experience for us, went to the situation and found it closed. what a waste of space! Don't go with this place, ever! we went to dotori-Japanese koreaner. beautiful small place, good food and service. a meal was for eating and eating remained. no complaining, should be there first."

"We have been to Marathon 4 adults and 2 toddlers. We stayed at the door for several minutes waiting for a staff member to open the other side of the door as our prams did not fit. Eventually, one of us had to go and ask a waiter to help. We were sat and they only had ONE baby high chair. Their service was really slow. There was a single waiter who sat at the corner with a laptop and 4 times we had to walk over to his corner to ask for the menu, extra injera and additional orders. Every time, he came with a face that has an expression you owe me an apology . Their food in addition to being slow was not very good either. I have been to Marathon for about 10 years, and I have never seen it at this level of terrible service. Sadly, their good days are behind them. My advice avoid, there are other much better and more friendlier Ethiopian restaurants"
