"I came here for dinner with my family for our first experience with Eritrean cuisine and let me tell you: we came to the right place! The colours of the food were so vibran and because you eat everything with your own hands, it really is a true eating experience. The food itself, well that is just the most delicious explosion of flavours. We ordered 10 injeras and the vegan platter. It included falafel with spicy hummus and spicy chilly paste as a starter and a tray where injeras were layered on and topped with 4 different dips/stews. They were Hamli (made of spinach), Timtimo (made of spicy lentils) Azifa (made of green lentils), Bamia (okra simmered with tomatoes and spices/herbs) and Kik (made of yellow split peas). We also ordered shiro (made of chickpeas) as an extra stew. Even though the menu states that the platter is for two people, it really is more than enough for 4 people. It was a lot of food, we ate until we were happily full and we still asked if they could box the leftovers up for us. The staff really was so friendly and accommodating. I totally recommend this place not only for the amazing vegan food but also because of the friendly staff and efficient service."

"I visited this restaurant with my daughter and granddaughter after seeing the billboard outside advertising "All you can eat pizza"."

"I went with friends to try a new cuisine and we had a great time. The food was delicious and prepared slowly. We especially enjoyed sharing the dishes. The highlight of the meal was the exceptional coffee made by an Italian. The only thing I didn't like was the popcorn served as a snack while we waited, which seemed unnecessary and out of place. It's important to learn to wait and savor the moment instead."

"A group of three of us visited the restaurant on a busy Saturday night. We arrived just before 7 and the place was already packed. With some guidance from the waitress, we ordered a sharing platter and an additional dish. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. I found the spiciness to be a bit higher than other Ethiopian restaurants I've tried (despite the waitress's assurance that our choices were mild/medium), but it suited me well. Those who prefer milder flavors may want to specify when ordering. The restaurant was a bit chilly (it was a unusually cold evening), so they offer pullovers to keep you warm. Overall, good value for money and they accept credit cards."

"I was looking for inspiration for an InterNations event and came to reach this very affordable, clean and easy. for most of us who visit it was our first time to eat éthiopien kitchen, waaaw everyone loved eating, it was a great discovery of the palette. all ordered Adams special combination dishes to taste the various dishes. the staff was friendly and very helpful, and I loved the fact that I was able to not have my eating too sharp. now for those who never tried injera before as I, I must warn them that it tastes tangie as they added lemon or edgy, but that is because this sponge flat brot from fermented sourdough. the atmosphere, the simple and authentic facility made this restaurant warm and cozy, we really enjoyed the experience and will soon be another event there host. a great thank you to the staff and the cook."

"We were excited to discover a new local restaurant and decided to book a table at Balseros for Saturday night. The Ethiopian cuisine, particularly the cod bowl, was outstanding, and the service was excellent as well. It was quite shocking that we were the only customers there. I truly hope this isn’t the norm because the restaurant deserves to thrive."

"The food, wine, and African beer were superb, absolutely delicious! Everything was freshly prepared, and you can even see into the kitchen. The owner is very friendly and attentive, we felt very comfortable and will definitely come back! The atmosphere is cozy, the ambiance detailed and tasteful! The reservation process also went smoothly, everything was perfect!"

"I got it via Deliveroo so can 't comment on the service or restaurant, aside from the fact it came earlier than the projected time. I got the vegetarian platter (in this case, container) and all the five options were amazing in their own way, full of flavour. It came with four injera, and I had the rare sensation of almost not being able to finish it all. Even the Greek salad, which I assumed would be a bit sad, was fresh and full of delish haloumi."

"We have been to Marathon 4 adults and 2 toddlers. We stayed at the door for several minutes waiting for a staff member to open the other side of the door as our prams did not fit. Eventually, one of us had to go and ask a waiter to help. We were sat and they only had ONE baby high chair. Their service was really slow. There was a single waiter who sat at the corner with a laptop and 4 times we had to walk over to his corner to ask for the menu, extra injera and additional orders. Every time, he came with a face that has an expression you owe me an apology . Their food in addition to being slow was not very good either. I have been to Marathon for about 10 years, and I have never seen it at this level of terrible service. Sadly, their good days are behind them. My advice avoid, there are other much better and more friendlier Ethiopian restaurants"

"I’d give 3.5 points for the price/quality ratio (or the quality/price ratio, if you wish . I substracted 0.5 points for not accepting major credit cards (they argued that they do accept some local “bank cards” I assume they meant some local bank debit cards ; I did substract another 0.5 points for not notifyng us in advanceabout it (we told we are foreigners we left the restaurant with 30 cents in cash (and 5 different creit cards . The final 0.5 points goes for a pretty unfriendly and unhelpful owner who even didn’t bother to bring us the bill “so tell me what did you order” was his question after we asked for the bill (German tax authorities, watch out! . I then rounded 1.5 up to two stars."
