"We booked a table for the lunch menu they confirmed that the set lunch menu was available for our 2pm booking). They showed us to our table and gave us the a la carte menu and the set menu £19.50 for 2 courses). They then said that there was nothing left on the set menu. No offer of any substitutions. Simply that we could only order from the a la carte. This is roughly twice the price. Bread and butter, put on the table without asking, is charged extra per person! I ordered fish soup which was very ordinary. The Roquefort soufflé had sunk in the middle and didn’t taste of Roquefort. Then the cassoulet. Should be one of their signature dishes but again very ordinary. The roulade was doughy and with a texture suggesting it had been standing under a hot lamp too long. I’ve eaten all over the world and never had this experience. If a restaurant is trying to attract lunchtime trade by offering a simple set menu demonstrating the area it specialises in, it’s unreasonable to simply sell out and not offer an alternative at the same price. Sadly, one to avoid."
