"service was very slow and there were more chatting between restaurant than service. drinks were not ordered before eating as in most restaurants and had to request wine. we got a wrong starter, but we ran late, so could not fly."

"This restaurant serves amazing food that is on par with the best in Brighton. Kudos to the chefs and the team for their outstanding work. It appears that they have made significant improvements, as previous reviews were not as positive. The service is professional and fast, and the portions are generous. The grilled meat is fresh and cooked over wood charcoal. This place is a must-try and you will be welcomed warmly."

"Hands down the worst food I’ve had in years. The chicken tenders were inedible and the dirty fries were disgusting. I have been to meat and barrel several times over the years and never had an experience like this. Have the management changed? Who’s in the kitchen? Are we cutting so many corners we’ve lost sight of why we are here? I sent my food back and got a refund it was so so bad. The staff were all rude and couldn’t be bothered to serve us. It’s such a shame for a local place to go so downhill. No atmosphere, terrible food, awful staff. I will not be returning anytime soon. If you want a nice evening with good food do yourself a favour and go to Croxton’s a few doors down."
