"I visited the Mash Tun with 9 members of my family. The orders took well over an hour to arrive, despite enquiring several times what the delay was. Some of the food arrived earlier but they had mixed up the order. I was for finally served (see photo) a portion of regular nachos £9.50 but it was just a small bowl of tortilla chips covered with sour cream. When I queried the size where were he rest of the accompaniments as per the menu, I was told by the server that this was the standard size and that he doesn't make the prices. I was told there was no cheese or guacamole after complaining, I was given a tiny bowl of salsa on the side. I have eaten in here before and been satisfied with the quality and quantity but not in this occasion. All out food came at different times and because of mixing up the order, some if the accompaniments were cold by the time the rest arrived. No apologies of any sincerity, the server clearly couldn't be bothered. A very disappointing visit."

"3 of us went for a catch up and really enjoyed the food. The chicken burgers (chargrilled and southern fried) were really tasty with sweet potato fries and side salads. The quarter/half chicken with sides is a good option for healthy eating or those with dietary restrictions. The coca-cola chicken wing starters were an unusual idea but worked well and are dangerously moreish, as are the milkshakes. The decor is modern and fun, service was exceptional but it would have been better if busier. It's nice to find good places that don't require travelling into Central London and we will definitely come again."

"Meltmongers had a soft open and has now closed until 13th May. This is the highly anticipated second location for Meltmongers in Edinburgh. I could finish this review by just saying these are the best cheese toasties you will ever have but that seems to undersell how awesome the food available here is. For a truly gourmet grilled cheese experience come along and choose from one of the many different varieties of cheese toasties, which they call Melts. Melts include fairly basic Cheese to Tuna through to Ham and Egg and even burger themed Melts. For the sweet tooth there is a Nutella and Banana Melt. Prices are more than reasonable for a large grilled cheese experience and a Melt by itself makes a decent lunch. For those with a large appetite there are also sides available including amazing chips. Top tip, don’t miss out on the cheese sauce. Highly recommended."

"Rating: I recently had the opportunity to visit The Crooked Billet, and I must say that my overall impressions were positive. Here's a breakdown of my experience at this pub: Atmosphere and Seating: The pub boasts a pleasant ambiance, especially with its good outdoor seating options. The area surrounding the pub is peaceful, creating a relaxed environment for enjoying a drink or a meal. It's an ideal spot if you're looking for a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Staff: The bar staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the positive atmosphere. They provided attentive service and were knowledgeable about the drink options available. Their warm demeanor contributed to a pleasant experience overall. Drink Prices: I found the drink prices at The Crooked Billet to be reasonable and in line with my expectations for a pub in the area. It's always reassuring when the prices match the quality and atmosphere of the establishment. Food: Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to try the food during my visit, but based on my positive experience with the other aspects of the pub, I'm inclined to return and give it a try in the future. I have high hopes that the food will be of the same quality and meet my expectations. In conclusion, The Crooked Billet is a nice pub located in a peaceful area, offering good outdoor seating and a friendly bar staff. The drink prices are fair, making it a worthwhile visit if you happen to be in the area. While I didn't sample the food on this occasion, I plan to return in the future to give it a try based on the overall positive experience I had. I can confidently say that The Crooked Billet is a good pub that is worth considering for a pleasant outing."

"It's a shame that I have to give the place 1 star. Went when it was Marco Pierre White, wasn't massively impressed. It changed to Arnold's- lovely restaurant. Quality place, good food, excellent service. Haven't been there for a while so decided to go at the last minute. OH!! It seems ownership has changed. It's more like the equivalent of travelodge for food! 2 staff serving at a peak period. 1 till point. Staff clearly have no experience. Food took FOREVER!! Don't even serve coffee! They went and got coffee from a machine in the hotel!! Brought mains and starters at the same time. Brought soup without a spoon! Peas served with the fish pie had been poured from a tin into a bowl and were sat in the water cold. The chicken had been petrified and cooked to a crackle. Given that the food could only reasonably compete with that of an airline this is a task within itself. Poor selection of drinks. Needless to say, a restaurant I enjoyed eating at had disappeared into the mist and instead replaced with something indescribable I will not return. On the plus side, the furniture is nice, clean and it's a relatively chilled' environment if only the restaurant complimented it. They could have at least changed the name again! What a disaster!!!"

"Bit of a wait to be seated while female staff member was watching the band. Then tried to seat us right next to the band. I asked to be further away due to a hearing issue, she then tried to seat us at a table right next to entrance. I asked if it was possible to sit in one of the several booths that were free. She said whatever walked away, very rude. No drinks offered or explanation of menus via QRS code on table. Waited about 10 mins for another member of staff to appear. Thankfully Stephen was fantastic, super efficient very attentive. Food was nice service was quick once we had ordered. Band that was there at 5pm didn 't really suit NYE. Air-con also was too high so felt cold at our table, it did warm up but then went cold again."

"We were served relatively promptly (about 10 minutes or so) and we ordered our drinks and food at the same time on Saturday 27th October at approximately 7:15 pm. Our starters arrived quickly, but our drinks had been left on the bar with no one bringing them to the table so we asked for them to be brought over. When we finished our starters and waiting for our mains to arrive, a waitress asked us if we had eaten our main course, to which we replied we were still waiting. It arrived soon later and then when we were halfway through, the table next to us were halfway through their desserts when the same waitress who served us told them that when they had finished they were to come up to the bar and pay. She then looked at our table, clearly able to see that we had only just started our mains and said 'the same for you guys '. I thought this was appaling service and extremely rude as we may have wanted to see the dessert menu. We weren 't checked on throughout our meal, nor were we offered other drinks so my Dad was forced to asked someone as they were passing. When the table next to us left, the waitress was sanitising the table, but clearly not taking care as she sprayed it all over my mother 's meal without even apologising or seeming to notice. My Dad order the jerk chicken burrito which is wrongly described as jerk chicken is usually a spicy/tomato based marinade whereas he received chicken with a cream/herb coating. When we were cleared of our mains, we asked to see the dessert menu but we were so disappointed by the service we had received we decided not to stay. The food was nice, but the service was appaling and we will not be returning again."

"The Station has had its problems in the past but under the new management with Adrian and the present manager Darren it has turned over a new leaf. Food is very good, staff are very worthy of praise and new entertainment in the back bar and front bar has taken The Station back to being a supporter of the arts with live music and comedy. Well worth a night out be it for a meal or entertainment or both. Well done !"
