"To begin with, I have to admit I only went to the Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem to say that I had been to the oldest (purportedly) pub in the islands. And I fully expected it to be a giant tourist trap, with a heavy dose of social distancing thrown in. After a pint I planned on heading over the Nottingham Castle and do some tourist stuff. And I certainly didn't plan to eat there. Well, that all changed after about 10 minutes in the place. What a pleasant surprise! I can honestly say I've never seen a pub grown out of the side of a cliff! And you feel like you could be an extra in a Band of Merry Thieves spot. The place is magnificent. I'm sorry if I can't remember how many ales I tried, but who's counting anyway. Since I knew I'd not likely be back around these parts any time soon, I went ahead and ordered the usual, Fish Chips and Steak Ale Pie. Both were fantastic, spot on. Although I'm always shocked to see how much the bar tab is in the UK (or Europe in general for that matter) compared to the food tab (alcohol is always at a premium). But that has nothing to do with the pub. In the end I never made it to the castle, but enjoyed the hell out of the locals and the staff. Do not miss the opportunity to check this place out!"
