"I would give this restaurant zero stars if I could. My party and I were excited to dine here for dinner. We arrived on time with a reservation, but the waitress seemed surprised. We ordered dessert and water but waited 30 minutes without any update. It took 35 minutes just to get our water. When we asked about our dessert, the waitress said it would be another 10 minutes. After waiting for so long despite having a reservation, we decided to cancel our order. The waitress did not offer to speed things up or apologize. We found dessert elsewhere that was faster and cheaper. Overall, this experience was a disappointing waste of time."

"we were shown on our places on our booked table and given menus. Unfortunately, when we were ready to order, we were told about the numerous meals that were not available to make the only main dish of a steak available, which is not great when they are a vegetarian. to be fair, the waiter was really pleasant and understood when we left. downside was that they contacted us easily to explain the missing available food that was extensive, before us trekking throughout the city to be disappointed, so the low score review"

"My partner and I really enjoyed our lunchtime at the River Shack. But there 's a but! While I enjoyed my 'light lunch ' of a smoked mackerel dish, my partner, a vegetarian, opted for the rarebit. How a chef can wreck what is basically cheese on toast, she couldn 't understand! It basically comprised a slice of sourdough with four quarters of apple laid on it and a tasteless gloop poured over. We assumed it had cheese in it but neither the texture nor the taste (lack of) gave much indication. She really enjoyed the fries ordered with though! Having said all that, we 're very likely to go there again as it such a nice place, but in view of my partner 's food experience it 'll probably be just for a coffee and cake experience!"

"Food was good as always though I couldn't detect any hint of the lemongrass supposed to feature in the (otherwise very tasty) hake dish. Service was a bit slow, but waiters were friendly and apologetic, and explained that they were more than usually over stretched. We did feel more could have been done re Covid proofing though (especially as we were there with my 80 year old mother). Our table location near the front door meant that one member of our party was less than a metre away from every customer entering the pub. Plus there appeared no attempt by the waiter to bring drinks and plates on a tray and we then help ourselves. We have seen these measures in use in other restaurants and they don't take much but they do increase confidence in the seriousness with which Covid prevention is taken. Meanwhile, as the 2nd lockdown looms we wish you all the best for getting through it look forward to returning on the other side..."
