Tender mussels steamed to perfection, served with crispy golden fries for a delightful taste of the sea.

"The food was excellent, but we probably won't return until we hear that the service has improved. Our table was reserved for 7:15, but we waited an hour before we could place our order, and then another hour before our food arrived. To be fair, a few people in our group were 15 minutes late, and we apologized since we know that can cause issues for the staff. However, we would have appreciated some acknowledgment or apology for the delay. By the time the dessert menu arrived, it felt too late for us to order dessert, which was disappointing because we all agreed that the food was outstanding."

"A gem just a few blocks away from the Royal mile. A quaint location tastefully decorated with staff that are warm, welcoming and accommodating. And, that's just as you walk in the door! MARTIN was our Server on this evening. He was personable, engaging and attentive. He kept us in good spirits throughout our dinner and made our evening. The cocktail and wine list, fantastic! The menu, wonderful! A varied menu with french classics, some twists and some regional delights. There is something for almost everyone here! The taste, superb! Each one of us at the table had something different and we all raved about the presentation and the taste of our dishes. We left with big smiles, full bellies and very full hearts!"

"Location 1 of only 2 hotels in the villiage affording amazing views over the Loch from the lounge, restuarant and loch facing bedrooms. Large carpark at the front, easy access. There is a villiage store which sells most produce at slightly inflated prices as they have the monopoly. There are no independent restuarants or take a ways in the area. First impressions Looks a bit like a motel, the building could do witha bit of TLC with paint peeling off cills and walls. Staff Very friendly and helpfull. Room We had room 10 which was a loch facing room, the room was basic with a comfortable bed but no wardrobes for hanging clothes and limited drawer space. There was Tea and coffee makings in the room. The WiFi was non existant in the room and we had to virtually stand next to the modems at the top of the stairs or in the bar area to get a signal. The Bathroom had a bath with a shower. The tiled floor showed signs and wear around the toilet and room looked tired. There was no daily room servicing to make the bed, replenish the tea, milk and coffee or replace any towels or toiletries if needed. The fridge did make a noise so we turned that off at night. The room faces the main road some 50yds away but we noticed no noise from passing traffic. Probably because it is a quiet location. Food Disappointed that for £270 for 2 persons for 2 nights that that did not include breakfast which was £10 for continental or £15 for English. We both had Duck for dinner, I found the duck very nice with a lovely sauce but thought that 1 sliver of carrot, 1 small piece of pak Choi, 1 cube of potato, about 3cm cubed, and a couple of sprigs of broccolli was a bit meagre for the price. The bar had an extensive range of whiskies and limited ales."

"never been for eating here and never. from the experience this is a restless night out of type of place where they can watch the football on a big screen and drink over expensive beer surrounded by late teenagers, students and older men who are desperate to get away from their wives. Midweek offers on drinks and vegan menu options are available. Pay attention to the weeks, plan their visit strategically during the week and they can be pleasantly surprised."

"Alas, I only make it to the Abingdon once a year purely and simply because I live on a different land mass. But when I return to the UK and spend even a couple of nights in London, a trip to the Abingdon is a must. The atmosphere is easygoing and low key, the space stylish, the staff are unfailingly good humored and accommodating, and the food is consistently wonderful the menu varied, the portions generous without being excessive, the preparation and presentation outstanding. Above all, the cocktails, made by the peerless Luigi, are among the very best I've tasted in the UK and I'm including the work of giants of the field like Dale DeGroff and Simon Difford in that estimation. Prepared with nuance and precision, Luigi's cocktails, especially his take on classics, are sublime and he'll rise to a challenge. The Abingdon now has the feel of a local for me; I only wish that it were."

"We stayed at this hotel as a night out delayed Valentine’s Day. The hotel is very tastefully decorated with comfortable surroundings. The room we stayed in was spacious with a nice bath tub and freestanding rainforest shower. The bed was extremely large and very comfortable however, my only gripe with the whole stay is that the pillows were quite thick and uncomfortable, we ended up getting cricked necks. When making the booking, I mentioned that it was our first night out in 6+ months since my mother in law fell ill and we were celebrating Valentine’s Day a few days later and the staff left us some chocolates, balloons and rose petals scattered around the room. It really made a nice touch to our stay!"

"After waiting until the last minute to book a restaurant in Chester, I decided to try The Handbridge, as it was just a short walk from the city center. Upon entering, I found the place to be quite calm, but I must say that both the food and service were excellent. It's a pity there wasn't a livelier atmosphere. I imagine that on a busier night outside of January, the place would have a lot more energy, given the quality of the food."

"The Soak is the restaurant of the beautiful Grade II listed railway hotel, The Clermont Victoria. Completely refurbished post covid the result is a very elegant and classy espace. The deco is 5*, it feels grand but relaxed at the same time. High ceilings wonderfully detailed in white, contrast with the rich grey of the walls and columns. Rich blue velvet seats, darker leather, light grey marble tables to the sides and dark wooden in the center with curved seating and beautiful globular lights. All very stylish. The food is good but not great. I had the posh prawn cocktail, rib eye and black forest brownie. The steak probably the weakest. The staff are great though and service very attentive. All in all, a beautiful restaurant with great staff and service. The food is ok but I expected a bit more."

"I enjoyed a lovely three-course meal that was beautifully presented – truly a work of art! We also had two cocktails for £12, along with a glass of house wine and coffee. After including an optional tip, my total came to £40, which I found very reasonable given today’s economic climate. While the menu isn’t extensive, I prefer a focused selection done exceptionally well over an overwhelming variety with mediocre execution. I’m becoming a regular visitor!"

"Service was good.Views are great. The quality of the food does not relate to the prices charged.Would. My wife's Gammon was extremely disappointing and didn't taste like gammon and she left it,We didn't complain because we were with relatives who had visited from Canada.I had a curry which was very average. The burgers were OK. would not return until the food quality improves considerably."

"The worst food I have had in Edinburgh, period. For £30 per head there are a plethora of other excellent, easy eats in Stockbridge and I highly recommend that you look elsewhere. The menu is extremely limited, which is fine if you can deliver, but thoroughly uninspiring when your options are fish and chips that was as soggy as the sea that inspired it, or a pasta dish was surely reheated from the microwave having been made a couple of days prior. The burger, which was my choice, was three times the price of a Mcdonalds equivalent and three times as bad: I may as well have been eating the cows’ hide, not it’s meat. We came here over a year ago and weren’t overly impressed, but we’re hoping that it had improved. Incorrect. The spider sense should have started tingling when we came in to an entirely empty establishment, less a few people at the bar. We were with company and therefore didn’t want to make a fuss, so we just paid and left. Don’t go here: take your money elsewhere. Hopefully new management will take over."

"The starters were fine and per usual for Cote. We also ordered two fillet steaks a minute steak and a chicken Palladian salad. One of the fillet steaks came over cooked and the minute steak was too overly salty. Sent both these back. The minute steak on its return was still too salty, but what to do? The fillet was cooked to order this time but my daughter did not enjoy the taste. My chicken salad was supposed to have a tarragon dressing, the reason why I ordered, this was not my first time with this salad, I’ve had it before and knew it’s taste. This salad tasted different at first I thought I had ordered wrong and kept eating but towards the end OE as sure it should have a distinct tarragon flavour. I thought something was amiss until I realized the tarragon was just not there. When I questioned, the manger went and got the dressing from the chef and said this is the dressing we put on the salad. I am pretty sure in the past this salad had a more creamier tarragon flavour, where the dressing was emulsified. But this dressing he showed me was nothing like that. It also didn’t taste of tarragon. But he insisted that it was tarragon. I should have asked him to taste it, or another client to confirm the taste, but to me it was absolutely flavourless."

"Very nice place, good food, a great and bold wine list. But with room for improvement for service. The ambiance and set-up is lovely, food options are not that many but varied and interesting. The Eton mess interpretation was clever. However I would put more celeriac mash or roast potatoes on the plate so guests don't have to buy sides. The wine list is fabulous and with wines from Greece, Moldova, Romania or the local Winbirri, it's something that more restaurants should observe and follow. The service....like most restaurants after Brexit and Covid, was poor. Regardless how friendly and well intended the waitress was, her totally dirty apron and lack of content for menu negatively impacts the experience. While this is endemic to the British hospitality industry, not training the staff, explaining the menu items and giving them to try the food and wine, I feel that the level has gotten even worse in the last 2 years."

"The welcome was good the service average. The bread served which is not complimentary, was too hard and not served warm. The Calamari was tasty and the mains portion of Chicken plentiful. One of the mains out of 3 was brought to the table half way through starter. We waited a long time to order our dessert. 80% of the staff seemed to be more wrapped up in flirting and joking with each other rather than seeming attentive to customers. It was not rush hour dinner service at this point so perhaps they wanted to have fun before the rush! Although it was very obvious the 20% of staff did not want to be tarnished with the same brush unfortunately couldn’t carry off an overall good service. I would not return here for dinner, but would come back for an unplanned lunch! Thank you."

"My friend and I chose the fixed price/pre-theatre menu at this restaurant on a Monday night. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated promptly when we arrived at 6:30. We were initially given the Christmas menu and the a la carte menu, but had to ask for the fixed price menu. We both opted for the 3-course meal for £20.95, which we found to be good value. My pear salad starter was decent, although it had hardly any pear, it was still tasty. The steak frites main course was very good, with a large thin steak cooked nicely. For dessert, we had plum clafoutis with ice cream, which was also enjoyable. I also had a large glass of rose, which was very drinkable. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and good value, especially for London."

"Started with a warm welcome on arrival. As we were early we decided to have a quiet drink outside before taking our table. We were instantly issued with a menu and within 5 minutes asked if we were ready to order? Clearly a lack on communication from staff! We were shown to our table by a waitress who was not very engaging. She took our drinks order and left. She returned a few minutes later to take our food order. I wanted steak and pepper sauce, only to be told they didn’t have an peppercorn sauce? This is at the early sitting so was very surprised. I asked could the chef not make this as it isn’t that difficult but told that was the case and I had to order something different! Her table service didn’t improve from there. She brought a bottle of water and poured 2 glasses spilling most on it on the table, banged the bottle on the table and walked away. The starters were nice, but the mains were not very well cooked and it was very disappointing. We didn’t even get asked if everything was OK whilst we were eating It was only when another waitress cleared the table we were asked if everything was OK which I replied that it was just OK. She sensed from my tone that it wasn’t, and mentioned this to the first waitress. When we were presented with the bill we were told they had knocked the drinks off without any explanation? When I presented her with cash she told us she couldn’t give any change! So the bill was paid in full without any service charge (which was on the bill! Clearly not the experience we were hoping for but will not be visiting another one of this chain again!,"
