"I don’t really do reviews. This is actually just the second time. But this place deserves it. What a gem! Manager and staff friendly as can be. But in an authentic way. Not the fake corporate hospitality style. They are serious about being friendly. And about their food. Excellent meat and sides. Plus, the gin tonic was great, too. (Should be a given, I know. Yet so many places succeed in messing it up, no? Being a business traveller from Munich I will definitely come back."

"I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant with excellent food and service. I would definitely return. I dined in for dinner and found the price per person to be between £20 and £30. Both the food and service were top-notch, earning a perfect rating of 5. The atmosphere was equally enjoyable, also rated 5. I highly recommend the lasagne. There was plenty of parking available, and I appreciated the free street parking options."

"We are regular visitors as we knew the owner from many years at Rinaldis. We often get emails offering 20% off which means we can come more regularly. Last night there was some confusion over the 20% and we were charged for 2 course meals which we hadn’t had. We had shared a garlic tomato bread and had 3 pizzas. We queried the bill but it was as though they didn’t want to give us it. As a result, the young girl tried to sort it and even though the bill was cheaper than the previous bill, £6.15 service charge had been added. We’ve been coming here since the restaurant opened and I’ve never been charged service charge as I always leave a tip. So in the end the 20% was a waste of time and was barely a saving. The stress of sorting it all out was such a hassle so won’t be going now. There was an older guy there who may have been the manager but he didn’t say anything about it. When we left, nobody said goodbye or thank you. Disappointing."

"I planned a surprise dinner for my sister to celebrate a very big event and I was extremely disappointed with the service we received on November 11th. I wish I had gotten our servers name because he was extremely unprofessional. To describe him he is an older (I believe possibly Italian due to his accent) man. Upon entering the restaurant with my sister, her friends were already waiting inside and said surprise to her as we entered. There were a few other patrons in the restaurant at this point, none of whom looked irritated by the situation, in fact many of them were smiling at our celebrations. We sat down at our assigned table and began excitedly chatting and saying hello to our guests. As it was a surprise dinner my sister was especially excited as she was not expecting to see her friends there. After sitting down for no more than 5 minutes the server in question (who we soon realised was unfortunately going to be our server for the night) loudly told us to be quiet as we were “disrupting the restaurant” our level of noise was no more than what you would expect for a party of 7 and it felt like we were being intentionally targeted by him. Nevertheless we lowered our conversation down to be respectful and continued on with our night. He returned shortly after and hurriedly requested us to order our food, we obliged and ordered our respective meals. After some time of receiving and finishing our starters one of my guests asked about the approximate timing of our mains to which she was told that “it will be here when it’s ready”. To finish off the night of awful service when it came time to pay the bill, everyone had diligently calculated their individual totals (including shared drinks service charge) and when he approached our table with the card machine he loudly asked “who is in charge here?” We explained to him three times that nobody is in charge and we all have calculated our individual amounts and will pay individually. After he had collected payment from every single person on the table he said (again very loudly with no respect for our privacy or other customers) that we had not paid our complete bill and owed him money still. Everyone still had their receipts and endured their receipts matched up with the amounts they had calculated. Despite this, he still made the decision to cause a huge scene by bringing a calculator with all his copies of the receipts and sitting down at a table next to us continuously shouting across to us that he was short changed. I was extremely upset and unimpressed by the service we received that night especially in the context of it being a very important celebration dinner fort sister. The only reason why I’m even giving 2 stars is because the food was very delicious however the service was horrendous."

"I went to this restaurant for dinner with a friend and I'm really happy that I did. The pizza had the perfect thickness, crispy edges, and the dough was not soggy in the middle. I ordered the vegetarian pizza and could tell that the ingredients were fresh and freshly prepared. The customer service was excellent and the waiter was attentive. I sat outside as it was sunny and warm, but inside the restaurant had an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. You could see the chef making and cooking the pizza in the wood fire oven, giving it a homey feel. I would definitely recommend Honest Italian to my friends."

"My son and I entered because I was wanting to treat him to a pre Christmas dinner. So we saw on the menu a deal for a course dinner. Little did we know that we would be charged for both courses separately despite the deal. So having a read through the menu a turkey dinner seemed rather tempting so we both ordered that. We also asked for coke what we received was watered down dirty dish water that they said was pepsi. The food arrived and it was the equivalent of a care home meal. Frozen veg potato cut in half! Some stringy bland turkey. All floating in bland gravy. Our deserts where mediocre and the portion size was appallingly small. The audacity to charge People for that horrendous meal my son and I then left and got some burgers from the Glasgow market festival which where far more adequate and had flavour. We shall not be returning"

"Went together with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. Place was quite empty which meant it was easy to speak to each other. Service was there but they didn't seem to put any extra effort in, just do their job. The food was good and despite my piece of meat being rather flatted out they had managed to cook it medium rare at where possible. Decent experience overall but nothing that stood out to other steak places."

I thought I was trying to eat an evening as it is open until 11 o'clock and it's date night. they have a two cure for 11 quid off putting, but the rest is really nice. "I rarely order dishes like their pizzas or pastas, so I can't comment on those. However, every time I order I always go for their burgers because they are amazing. The portions are huge, the homemade fries are delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Sometimes they are a bit late with the delivery, but when I call to inquire, the manager is always very nice and so are the delivery drivers."

"I found the food to be fresh and of good quality at this restaurant. The service was good but basic, reflecting the current trend in Dublin where customer service may not be as friendly as in other places. I prefer servers who are friendly and engaging when I dine out. Unfortunately, we were not immediately offered drinks or informed about specials when we were seated, which I believe should be standard practice in the restaurant industry. The menu seems to be slightly overpriced, especially the salads, and the pizza is comparable in taste to Milanos but more expensive. However, the decor is nice and, most importantly, the food and wine were enjoyable. I would definitely visit again if in the area as I have a fondness for Italian cuisine."

"what a wonderful meal. planning a special afternoon in butdeen would not have been complete without a nice meal. for the first time in a few years back to la lombarda I was pleased that it was all as good as I remember if not even better! a friendly reception and a great service was a fantastic supplement to the beautiful eating we had. we had to treat children and allergies in our group, and the staff took all this in their struggle with a smile. such a beautiful alternative to all known eye roles when they enter some other farms in the union street with children. two beautiful pizzas were inhaled by the children, while the adults were filled after bowling the beautiful handmade pasta. we'll be back soon. "I definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food. I was invited to a 60th birthday dinner and judging by the menu I could not tell whether this was supposed to be authentic Italian or African cusine to my disappointment it was neither. The food was sub standard and cold and the wait between courses was over 90 minutes. For starters, I ordered the Prawn Gamberi, which had a very watery garlic sauce and with frozen king prawns. The main was the lamb dish, which had reheated potatoes and good old Bisto gravy, which was poured over my lamb (not asked whether this was wanted) and very salty green beans. I sure was not going to order a dessert after that. Another guest in my party had what was called seafood risotto but was in actual fact wet rice absolutely shocking. They didn't even use Aborio rice. The beef stroganoff on some plates were dry and the order that was placed with chips had a weird watery cream sauce. The Jellof rice...well some people would have been offended and the spaghetti bolognese for my child was salty and disgusting with overcooked pasta. I can't even be bothered to write about the cocktails if you could call them that!!! Had I been the one paying the bill I would have demanded a discount for this inedible food. I would suggest the owners/chefs decide what type of restaurant this is and go out and taste some real authentic cuisines because they are not serving it. If Gordon Ramsey was still presenting on Kitchen Nightmares, I would have suggested visiting this place to give it an overhaul. How **** dare you what a disgrace."
