"We had a quandry. What to order? Everything on the menu sounded great, but eventually we made a decision. Sadly the beef wellington was sold out. For starters we had the chicken liver and foie gras terrine which was very good. The portion size was a surprise, it was about double what I would have expected. Next up was fillet of beef. I'm always a little wary of ordering fillet of beef as I like my beef cooked blue but I don't want it to be cold in the middle. No such problems here, the fillet was cooked exactly how I like it, that is it say, barely cooked at all and it was hot all the way though. We over ordered on sides and had to leave some brussels sprouts and carrots to make sure we could manage a desert. Oh dear, a quandry with the desert menu again. I went for the apple tart fine and my partner had the rich chocolate tart. From what I'm told the chocolate tart was indeed rich. The apple tart was delicious which crisp pastry and vanilla ice cream that actually tasted of vanilla. This was our first visit here, it definitely will not be our last."
