Asian • Philippine • Vegetarian • Pan-asian Cuisine

"Seeing all the reviews here, I thought it might be interesting to share the opinion by one of the culinary elites; Gordon Ramsay’s Protégé: Jason Atherton; about Josephine’s Restaurant:“My favourite cuisine is Filipino, and you get the best Filipino food in the country at Josephine’s on Charlotte Street. My wife is loves it and she’s from the Philippines, so it must be pretty authentic. Filipino dishes are an interesting mix between Spanish and Asian flavours. They use a lot of tamarind, fish sauce and sour mango, but their international dish is Paella, because of the influx of Spanish in the Century. I go to Josephine’s for my regular fix of pork lechon, which is pork rubbed in herbs, roasted and served with garlic fried rice. Josephine’s is reasonably priced and traditionally designed with pictures of the Philippines. The owners make you feel really welcomed, so my advice is to get down there and try it.”Jason Atherton, Executive Chef for Gordon Ramsay‘s“Maze”“Maze” Restaurant was winner of Restaurant Magazine’s “Best UK Restaurant Award” and “Best English Restaurant Award” The BMW SERIES GOOD FOOD RIDE. GREAT BRITISH FOOD ADVENTURESBased on that article, I was persuaded to go with some friends to Josephine’s and we all had a wonderful time, staff were welcoming and friendly, and the food was full of flavour, varied and excellent. We had quite a lot of pork though and were quite stuffed, we waited about half an hour sipping port before going after the desserts!"

The Lamb

The Lamb

"The photograph on Trip Advisor’s website of The Lamb’s cheeseburger French fries is entirely accurate but also entirely nauseating – a meat patty buried within a sloppy mess of stuff (see photo on this website) which, other than the cheese, we neither expected nor...requested. When trying to hold the bun and take a bite of it, the beef patty slithered out from its gunge onto the plate. Granted, there was a knife fork but what's the point of a cheeseburger if you can't grip the bun and bite into it? (Thinks: I wish I’d read Trip Advisor’s reviews on The Lamb in advance rather than afterwards. I would have just ordered a packet of crisps) On a positive note, we didn't throw up. Certainly we couldn't face eating again that evening we ended up sharing a tin of soup and a packet of crisps. The outdoor terrace was a pleasant spot for a lunchtime snack. The bill was (two cheeseburgers French fries at each plus for wine and fizzy water). Thinking positive, we saved money that evening by feeling too queasy to have more than a mug of soup and some crisps. Almost forgot: the French fries were excellent; what’s the betting they weren’t bought in?! The waitress service was pleasant. About two thirds of these “slopburger” were left on our respective plates. The waitress didn’t comment as they took away the plates. Fair enough- what could she possibly say? “I don’t blame you!” ? Next day I rang the manager or someone in charge to explain my disappointment, taking a gentle exploratory approach. To no avail. He insisted it was “a proper cheeseburger”. So maybe it’s me. Or maybe there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Try it and see."

"Went to this restaurant as part of Norfolk Restaurant Week and had heard very good things so was super excited Was hard to find but when we did it was a lovely welcome from the staff.....we were seated Immediately as we were late through not finding the venue.....menu looked very appetising!!! Served bread which was lovely....me being an Irish man love my bread and butter....asked if we could have a bit more (perfectly happy to pay extra which I said) to be told that the chef had only made enough that day for one roll per person and no extras were available.....ironically 5 minutes later the table next to us asked for some more bread but got the same answer Food was fabulous and an incredibly high standard.....in truth the starter portions were rather small for an adult....I fully appreciate fine dining but there wasn't much on the plate....at that point kind of had that sinking feeling!!! Luckily though even though the next 2 courses were not the biggest they did the job of filling us up in a pleasant way and all three course were very good food good service apart from waiting 55 minutes for our desserts but in total fairness to the manager and the staff they were extremely apologetic and even went so far as to only charge us for 2 courses instead of 3!! Which was not my intention but a very nice touch!! Also very helpful and polite.....explained to us that there was another promotion in January food was excellent and would definitely have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the bread and maybe slightly more on the starter....yes there was a delay but it was dealt with perfectly looking forward to hopefully dining their again with friends soon"
