"Bar Salsa is definitely going to become a favourite place of mine to visit on a regular basis. I discovered it two weekends ago whilst exploring Soho, Covent Garden and Leicester Square with a friend. We were keen to catch up and so wanted to find a bar to sit down and have a relaxing drink. We were attracted to Bar Salsa instantly due to its vibrancy and fairy lights (very girly I know but they really would look lovely in the evening too! We went into the bar which set alight your senses. You just don 't know where to look! It has chic furnishings and quirky murals/paintings on the walls which were so bright and vibrant! Being a creative pair we were became very intrigued by the venue and took a look around downstairs. Downstairs was the 'club/bar ' area very dim let with an array of lights (even disco lights on the dance floor featuring different levels of flooring. It was so exhilarating; we instantly wanted to return on another occasion especially after we discovered they offer salsa nights for minimal money. The thought of dancing away to the Spanish club music soon became too much for us and we decided to return later on with boyfriends in tow (of course they wanted to salsa who wouldn 't?! . We ordered a bottle of wine to share which was good value for money. They also informed us that it would soon be happy hour and all cocktails would be at least half price! We were definitely staying! We sat in the outside courtyard in the sun which was lovely. The ambiance was great with people chatting away, we didn 't even notice the big, busy main road next to us! Happy hour soon arose and we ordered two cocktails at the downstairs bar. These were delicious, some of the best cocktails we had ever had! If we hadn 't had to have left to meet my friend 's boyfriend we would have stayed in there all evening! We did return in the evening but unfortunately didn 't enter as entry price rises after 9:00pm. Although highly disappointed by this we will no doubt return! I rated the Salsa bar a 4.5, we had a delightful experience but we are yet to experience the club and salsa.I definitely recommend any upbeat, easy going person to visit especially if they love music, dancing and cocktails!"

"I hadn't really had Phillipine food before so I went with an open mind. The menu had hints of influences from Thai and Chinese food and there were few dishes that were obviously of Phillipine origin.I ended up with a lamb and peanut sauce dish that I had with rice. The meat was surprisingly enjoyable, it had been braised for just the right amount of time...achingly tender without just falling apart. The sauce was nothing special though and a bit of a let-down as the meat was so nice and deserved much better. It was a tad rich, fairly thick but the flavour was fine.If I remember correctly, my friend had pork chops with a mixture of vegetables in a kind of tamarind sauce with rice. It had an albeit, interesting flavour but I'm not sure it was my kind of thing. I'd imagine it would make me feel sick if I had it all to myself. As it was mentioned in the previous review, the decor is a bit crazy. I can't remember exactly but the walls were either bright pink or bright red and there were plants all over the place. A bit in your face and not really suitable for a restaurant environment. It was easy to see that the owners were trying to maximise their space, the tables were really close together and it felt quite cramped even for me (I'm I felt sorry for my friend who is The next day, I told my Phillipine chef friend that I'd been to a Phillipine restaurant and he immediately knew where I meant! Anyway, he said it wasn't that authentic and didn't really showcase what Phillipine food had to offer so I guess it's unlikely I'll be returning there."

"Primitivo Bar Eatery in Birmingham’s Colmore Business District celebrate their Anniversary this week. Coincidentally, its also me and my wife's Anniversary this week. So where better to enjoy lunch in the sun. The weather was incredible, a pavement table was available and...Rishi Sunak was footing of the bill up to a maximum of per person. If there was a fruit machine in the bar, it would be the equivalent of scoring three big ticks followed by an endless waterfall of coins. Primitivo reopened two weeks ago with a full array of safety precautions; foot operated sanitizers, protective screens, a one way system and a food menu allowing reduced numbers of staff in the kitchen. There’s even single visitor loos on hand so no more taking your friend with you. There’s even a new South American beer, Modelo for those who want to avoid the C word. I opted for Sparkling Water, with temperatures north of degrees centigrade, it went down like Champagne. I was in a Glasgow Wetherspoons last week and ordered Haddock and Chips. I’m not saying it was intimidating but even the fish ran out. Back in Brum, Primitivo are thankfully more on the ball with stock levels. Despite half a century and at least hours of unwrapping fish and chips, I can’t claim to be an expert but this was, as my daughter would say, ‘fire.’ For readers above the age of the Haddock and Chips; beer battered haddock, hand cut chips, mushy peas and tart sauce is a very good thing. Anji chose the Thai Fishcake; delicately spiced with chilli and lime, fresh spring onion salad and sweet chilli dressing with a side of Fries (V) She kindly offered me some and it was awesome. The kitchen boasts local gastronomic heritage, Chef Murray is non other than local legend Paul Fulford’s son. It’s like going to Guitar Guitar on Hagley Road and buying a Fender from Eric Clapton’s kid. Both meals, a side and soft drinks allowed us to take full advantage of Rishi’s Eat Out to Help Out cap of per person. Eat Out to Help Out runs until the end of August. It’s good to see Government use Nudge Economics to encourage those who can, venture out and support the hospitality industry. VAT has also been temporarily reduced from to We learned this morning we are officially in recession. Supporting local independent businesses is the fast track to get our region back into the fast lane. The money spent in venues such as Primitivo fund the wages of it’s staff and are reinvested locally. Thank you to all the team for a fabulous experience. Congratulations Prit on your Anniversary."

The Lamb

The Lamb

Simons Lane, OX7 6DQ, West Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

Soup • Fish • Meat • Steak

"The photograph on Trip Advisor’s website of The Lamb’s cheeseburger French fries is entirely accurate but also entirely nauseating – a meat patty buried within a sloppy mess of stuff (see photo on this website) which, other than the cheese, we neither expected nor...requested. When trying to hold the bun and take a bite of it, the beef patty slithered out from its gunge onto the plate. Granted, there was a knife fork but what's the point of a cheeseburger if you can't grip the bun and bite into it? (Thinks: I wish I’d read Trip Advisor’s reviews on The Lamb in advance rather than afterwards. I would have just ordered a packet of crisps) On a positive note, we didn't throw up. Certainly we couldn't face eating again that evening we ended up sharing a tin of soup and a packet of crisps. The outdoor terrace was a pleasant spot for a lunchtime snack. The bill was (two cheeseburgers French fries at each plus for wine and fizzy water). Thinking positive, we saved money that evening by feeling too queasy to have more than a mug of soup and some crisps. Almost forgot: the French fries were excellent; what’s the betting they weren’t bought in?! The waitress service was pleasant. About two thirds of these “slopburger” were left on our respective plates. The waitress didn’t comment as they took away the plates. Fair enough- what could she possibly say? “I don’t blame you!” ? Next day I rang the manager or someone in charge to explain my disappointment, taking a gentle exploratory approach. To no avail. He insisted it was “a proper cheeseburger”. So maybe it’s me. Or maybe there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Try it and see."

"Malvarosa is a relatively new challenger to the Portobello High Street. It brings tapas much closer to my house, and for that I thank Malvarosa. And indeed, I thank and praise it highly, for not only does it bring tapas closer, but it brings gooood tapas closer. The service last night was excellent, great banter with the guy front of house (Vegetarian? What kind of monster are you? I think in Spain, I might be burned as a witch (I jest, I jest . You are made to feel welcome, and not rushed, even when the restaurant were heaving, we were one of the first to arrive and one of the last to leave, supping on tasty sangria and enjoying a good catchup. To the food the menu is quite small, but not in a bad way just don't go in expecting a book of tapas. Malvarosa keeps it succinct but there is still a good amount of choice across meat, fish and vegetable spectrums. Patata bravas good, smoky paprika flavour with a good kick, although could do with a bit more of a hit of the sauce on the potatoes. A warm ensalada of broad beans, artichoke and spinach was delicious (also available with meat, the Spanish vegetarian option, hur hur hur . I'm still enjoying the thought of chickpeas, spinach and sultanas a tagine y style tapas which I couldn't get enough of. I could go on I'll admit, I forgot to ask my dinner date how the meat dishes were so I can't comment on those. I was too busy enjoying mine to think of anything else. For dessert, we tucked into chocolate cake (super rich, bit too heavy for me, with a stomach already groaning from our mains and flan (I got the last one hurrah! flan had a bit of an odd texture, so a little less enjoyable than I had hoped for. Overall, Malvarosa is a lovely place to spend an evening catching up with good friends. No rush, no stress, just good food and good times."

"Went to this restaurant as part of Norfolk Restaurant Week and had heard very good things so was super excited Was hard to find but when we did it was a lovely welcome from the staff.....we were seated Immediately as we were late through not finding the venue.....menu looked very appetising!!! Served bread which was lovely....me being an Irish man love my bread and butter....asked if we could have a bit more (perfectly happy to pay extra which I said) to be told that the chef had only made enough that day for one roll per person and no extras were available.....ironically 5 minutes later the table next to us asked for some more bread but got the same answer Food was fabulous and an incredibly high standard.....in truth the starter portions were rather small for an adult....I fully appreciate fine dining but there wasn't much on the plate....at that point kind of had that sinking feeling!!! Luckily though even though the next 2 courses were not the biggest they did the job of filling us up in a pleasant way and all three course were very good food good service apart from waiting 55 minutes for our desserts but in total fairness to the manager and the staff they were extremely apologetic and even went so far as to only charge us for 2 courses instead of 3!! Which was not my intention but a very nice touch!! Also very helpful and polite.....explained to us that there was another promotion in January food was excellent and would definitely have been 5 stars if it wasn't for the bread and maybe slightly more on the starter....yes there was a delay but it was dealt with perfectly looking forward to hopefully dining their again with friends soon"
