"We had booked in advance. When we arrived it was clearly very busy, and we were asked to stand by the takeaway counter. No problem with that – it was a 50% off day and we appreciated it was hectic. But whilst we were waiting there a waiter came past carrying a tray and accidentally brushed against my wife, leaving a curry stain on the sleeve of my wife’s coat. He apologised, which was fine, but we still felt we needed to point it out to the manager behind the counter, in case we couldn’t get it out. At first he tried to laugh it off and dismiss it as nothing to worry about, but when we politely asked him to make a note of it he started to get angry. He then lead us to our table at the back of the restaurant. We were a bit concerned with how close this was to the people on the adjoining table (as were they) and when we queried this he started shouting at us so loudly that people on all the nearby tables stared in disbelief. As we sat down he actually shouted “No need to stay. We won’t serve you” I was absolutely gobsmacked at such behaviour, the like of which I have never ever encountered in a restaurant, and I could tell by the faces of the customers on the tables on either side that they were deeply embarrassed. We did stay, and they did serve us. And on the way out afterwards the manager (whose name was Kamal) did in fairness to him, apologise for his behaviour, but of course that was far too late.It was clear that the 50% deal made the restaurant much busier than they could cope with. The ladies on one side had to ask 3 times just to get someone to take their order, and they still hadn’t received any food by the time we left. And when we asked for our bill, we were given somebody else’s Worst of all, despite intensive efforts, we were unable to get the curry stain out of my wife’s coat. We phoned the next day and were promised the owner would phone us. We’re still waiting……"
