"This was our first visit to Zarda which was an achievement in itself as my husband is not too partial to Indian food. However, he thoroughly enjoyed his meal and went so far to say that it was one of the best meals he had recently. Compliments to the chef! The food was very well presented, tasty and portion size good. The only negative comment I would offer is that the restaurant was too cold for dining. The building is very old and probably does not have concrete foundations; the staff had the radiators on, extra heaters and an open fire but it was still on the chilly side. Probably best visited when the weather warms up. Parking is on the street and it was particularly busy the evening we visited. However, I would certainly visit again and have no hesitation in recommending the food."

"Always go by and the food smells delicious, decided to order with them for home delivery. We ordered the Paneer Achari (yes it was so spicy as it says that this was not a favorite with my guest, but I really enjoyed it), Drunken Lamb (we will definitely order again, very tasteful), the rice, with both dishes (big portion size) and finally the Ferrero Desert, which was delicious I just wish they made a larger version of it! Will be ordered again. Delivery time was also good!"

"My boyfriend and I used to frequent the restaurant/takeaway on Dumbarton Road, but have recently stopped going as often due to the lack of friendliness. We used to order our takeaway in the restaurant and enjoy a drink while chatting with the man taking our order. However, they now lock the restaurant and do not allow customers to wait inside or have drinks in the unlicensed takeaway. This was disappointing as we enjoyed the atmosphere and socializing while waiting for our food. Overall, the staff at Papa Gill's are not friendly and the food quality has declined. We will be going to The Ettrick in Old Kilpatrick instead, where we can enjoy great food in a warm and inviting environment. If you are looking for a friendly and enjoyable Indian takeaway experience, go to The Ettrick."

"Went here on a group curry night and had such a great evening. I had booked online and got a courtesy call 2 days before to check all is good. When we arrived there was friendly staff who greeted us and showed us to our table where our drinks order was taken and was informed of 2 for 1 on cocktails till 19:30 which we took advantage of. The venue looks very authentic and you can see the chefs preparing the food. The food came out in good time despite it being very busy on our visit and came in good portion sizes. The food was so tasty and flavoursome and had the right amount of spice and not overdone on the chilli's. I would recommend booking for a Saturday night as was near capacity, but staff cope effortlessly and food was coming out in good time............I would definitely return here again."

"I have to admit that I was a bit stupid at first sight! the restaurant inspires not the trust from outside and is quite small in the inner but this humble look is the absolute gastronomic genie at the work in the kitchen! the starters were so delicious. the three of the use we had lamm samosas, wobble bhajis, lamb chops lamb something! the seasoned on all dressed were perfect, really rich and tasteful with the right amount of heat that gave them a brand without being too painful as they do with the lamb especially and still preserve the taste of the actual flesh, is nothing short of culinary source! when the net arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find the garlic naan with tiny ribbons of fresh garlic, and it was thin with a flat texture, instead of thick and teig the nets were equally fantastic and tasteful; I had chicken masala and pilau reis and I can honestly say I never have a better curry in my life! next time I am in london, I will visit 100% again!"

"The service is based on drinks as this was a buffetbooked this restaurant for a curry as it was the only one left on valentines night. Turned up and it was a buffet which was a shock as my girlfriend is gluten free. "they can see from the reviews that this restaurant is highly regarded and its call is justified. I confess to being disturbed when I found out it is part of the imperial, but my fears were allied. service was friendly, efficient and helpful. I can not comment a lot from the menu as my partner and I had the same dishes, but we enjoyed the freshly cooked fish that had exactly the right amount of seasoned and fresh crumble. I was resurrected when the waiter informed us that they would run out of monkfish, but they could replace them with white fish. at least this meant that it was not a frozen microshaft meal. another soothing aspekt is the menu itself. usually overlong in Indian restaurants. means that none of them is fresh. the menu here is diverse, but realistic. why not 5 stars. now the decor is a little more extinct and the only memory that they are imperial."

"On the day that government extended the tier 4 areas across the country, I collected dinner from Desi only to find that all the 3 employees inside Desi had no protection whatsoever. Not even bad placed mask on the chin as many people use, not a single mask at sight. Every other take away that I have used in the last week had employees with masks as mandatory for every open business. Being a restaurant with a open door on a tier 4 area I expected much more from Desi."

"I always noticed the wonderful smell coming from this place when I walked by, so I finally decided to try it out over the weekend. The man behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, explaining the spiciness levels of the curries and offering to adjust them to our preferences. The food we ordered was delicious, the quality was great for the price, and we didn't have to wait too long for it. I would definitely order from here again. Another great thing is that the menu offers the option to make any dish vegetarian or vegan, which is a big bonus for those who require it."

"We give British pub fare much due credit for coming a long way in the last 20 years since its previous dark days of unmitigated blandom. Still, the vanguard of English culinary salvation remains its range and ubiquity of excellent Indian food, as we are sampling this evening, with Asian and Mediterranean food holding up the flank and rear. This place is a prime example ans best in class for its specific category of hard to find authentic South Indian far. On order shown here are chicken masala dosai (crepe) and chicken biryani. The restaurant cuisine actually hails from my ancestral Kerala which I have yet to discover. The copious portions made for ample take home, even for the two ravenous patrons."

"Food was delicious. I felt that the rice to share was certainly very small and we were eating from the a La carte menu. We asked for desert and a coffee they didn’t have the desert we wanted and the coffee machine was out of order. I also asked for irn bru and they didn’t have that either. "Decor in the restaurant isnt great looking but more importantly its clean. They are definitely missing a trick with the lack of atmosphere and the place could do with a makeover. All that said the food is absolutely magnificent and at the end of the day that's what your here for and I have to say it twice because its important especially after putting the decoration down THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT. The staff are nice and friendly and give you the space you like but are around if you need anything without hounding you. Price is reasonable and did I mention the food is amazing? It seems to be fairly quiet anytime I go and maybe a little investment in the decor might bring in more people and make the place more profitable? But whatever you do keep your chef's they are real assets. I've no problem giving this place the full 5 stars and anyone reading this you should try this place out the food is great, as long as your not planning to propose to the significant other that night."
