"This was on a Sunday and there is a very wide sea based menu in terms of crab, prawn, scampi, and lobster sadly there was no sea fish today as far as we could find (the fish of the day was salmon). There were standard ‘Sunday lunches if that is your bag! We had the kipper pâté (which was excellent and generous) with what was described as artisanal bread this divided the 2 diners it was brown with grains but was very light and airy The chips served with the fishcakes were good and hot, the fishcakes obviously had salmon and a white fish and were nice enough. The salad appears to be bagged leaves with a commercial fruity dressing Somewhat saddened that there was no fresh saltwater fish on the menu in a place like Craster."

"I'm really disappointed. I had made a reservation for four people this evening through OpenTable and received a reminder email yesterday, to which I confirmed my attendance. When I arrived tonight, the restaurant was closed for renovations. It was quite embarrassing, especially since I had recommended this place to my guests. I also left a message on the restaurant's phone, but received no response."

"Lovely restaurant overlooking the bar, nice outside seating if weather permits. Service was friendly and attentive. Had mussels with sea vegetables to start which was good but very salty, maybe soak the sea vegetables to expel some salt. Monkfish was excellent and cooked, seasoned perfectly. No room for dessert so ordered a macchiato coffee but received a cappuccino. Good wine list and reasonably priced, **** Mary could have been better as it lacked spice and served with too much ice making it watery."

"Thought we'd give it a try as we were having a pre Christmas break in Exmouth. Fantastic service from Emmer but poor value for money. Calamari starter £8.95, a very small portion Sea bass £18.95 which was good but advised to have a side dish with it which added another £4.55. Gorgonzola and Prosciutti pizza £16.95. Very expensive and not great. Peach and ginger soft drink £4.95 Poretti £6.95 a pint. This may explain why it was quiet just before Christmas, we noticed plenty of other restaurants in the town were busy with parties. We won't be returning, but have a lovely Christmas Emmer."

"We had a three-day, two-night stay at this restaurant. The staff was lovely, the surroundings were comfortable, and there was a pool and gym available. The menu and food were both good. The location is convenient for walking along the Kennet and Avon canal, as well as catching buses to Bath."

"Very lovely place, good food and live music is a and this is the main reason we are coming often. However, no matter how good is the place, the staff is very rude. Specifically one of the waiters (white hair guy) after we finished our dinner he brought the bill and placed it loudly hitting the table in front of me .. and while we were thinking that this was a misunderstanding… moments after he poked me and showed me the POS in order to pay. He brought the POS literally in front of my face while I was having a conversation. Later the same waiter came to collect the glasses of wine that we were still drinking and when we refused he ironically showed us the empty bottle of the wine splitting the last drops to our glasses. While my friend was holding at her glass, the guy turned the bottle 360ᵒ by spilling the last drop of wine on her dress. His behavior have been noticed also previous times and it is really disappointing for such a nice place. We feel really sorry about him and we wish him to fix soon whatever triggers this behavior."

"Below average. The food was, at best, ok. Little flavor. Half the people on our table didn 't finish their dishes because they didn 't enjoy it. My tagliatelle Alfredo was supposed to have a 30 yo Parmesan cheese but I could not taste any Parmesan at all. The waiter that was taking our orders seemed annoyed, or tired, or something else, but showed no interest in being pleasant. The restaurant is nicely decorated tough. I wouldn 't recommend this restaurant based on our experience today."

"We stumbled upon this restaurant today and were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, enhanced by the cheerful and friendly waitress, the inviting atmosphere, and the soothing Italian background music, which created a delightful ambiance. During our visit on a rainy Monday afternoon, we were the only customers in the restaurant, but rather than feeling uncomfortable, it added to the unique charm of the place. The food was clearly freshly prepared, and the enticing aromas from the kitchen teased our taste buds before we even saw our dishes. I enjoyed monkfish served with mushrooms, king prawns, and calamari, along with a fresh arugula and cherry tomato salad. My partner chose the linguine with king prawns, and we both agreed that our meals were absolutely delicious. The restaurant features a variety of seating areas, including a beautiful garden space. Overall, this is a fantastic place and definitely worth a visit!"

"Attention to detail makes all the difference and sadly The Cavendish food frequently finds itself lacking. We ate in the Garden Room which is lovely. We ordered two main courses: Superfood Salad with nuts and seeds (only there were no nuts nor seeds on the dish) and the Fish of the Day which was a lemon sole with new potatoes and a watercress 'salad '. The fish was very nice (on the bone as I like it) but the watercress was at best a garnish ie very very little of it and it was the micro watercress, which was fine had there been enough of it to constitute a 'salad '! Add to that that it was yellow. I sent it back and an even smaller garnish appeared after some time. They had clearly picked out a few greenish leaves from the residue and the waitress confirmed that they had thrown the rest of the micro-watercress away in the kitchen because it was past its sell-by. But it should never have been served in the first instance and it certainly should be renamed as a 'garnish '. The dish was totally unbalanced: it was protein (fish) and carbs (potatoes) , no green veg and certainly not a 'salad '. When we pointed out that the Superfood salad was missing two key ingredients, the waitress returned with a half ramekin of a mush of seeds. It was difficult to see if there were any nuts in there but if there were, they had been whizzed to a grain. The worst thing was, it was sweet!!!! It was as if it had been prepped to go alongside the muesli at breakfast! We love the place but the food generally lets it down. What a shame."

"Good morning. we came to dinner on Saturday night. table for 5 booked at 8 o'clock. we came at 8.05 to say that our table was ready, and the people were sitting in it. we were then sent into the bar to get a drink while we waited for our table. we have. at which point we were not served. a gentleman at the bar came to us and asked us if we were served and we said we were not waiting. he then went away, instead of serving us to go and serving someone else saw someone he knew being a cucumber. another lady (possibly the manager) came and asked us if we were served. we have said no again and said that we are still waiting. she said we were standing the "wrong side of the sign". barservice was so, not so. We answered and said that we were sent from her colleagues to the bar, because our table was not ready. she was badly tempered and made us clear the problem. then she continued to serve our drinks. but instead of serving them, let us pour our own drinks out of the bottles for our big tom gin and tonic etc. it is not a great service and not the one to treat their customers, especially because we were first sent to the bar. it was not our fault that our table was not ready because they had given it to some other people, and we do not expect that we are treated by a badly temperatured employee when 5 of us have eaten there and their service is added to the final bill. please let me know how they will be correct. we had a good meal at the end, it was just a scandal, how everything started and this part needs something work."

"This was a post business meeting lunch of 5 people, week day lunchtime and the restaurant was very quiet. The service wasnt speedy, the food did take a good while to arrive but it was freshly cooked so worth the wait. The restaurant/cafe is clean and basic but welcoming. The menu is very good and the food on both occasions we have eaten there has been above average. Value for money it is pub prices or higher but no complaints."

"the only thing that is vegan at this place is that the ingredients are not animal based. Maybe this business started well, but it's just a business now. we had three courses. no joy in any of the dishes, apart from perhaps the Korean fish tacos. curry made by someone who either loves a curry on the basis of nothing but the taste of nelken, or more likely is not really in curry. Gnocchi pieces were quite well made, but sauce completely tasteless. so called sourdig pizza not sourded (to say faire waitress, she didn't know whether it was sourdough or not. and toppings revolting only in gunk like something that a child puts together after a bad day in the kitchen. simply strange and expensive and not what vegan eats (revitalization, enlightenment, fullness and gratitude). would never go back. the dog was welcomed, but maybe two stars are just in order. updated by previous review on 2022-03-14"

"I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The staff was consistently friendly, polite, and helpful. While on vacation in the UK, I made sure to visit Camden and discovered a charming coffee shop just around the corner that truly enhanced my trip! The food was always fresh, and the talented baker whipped up something special for me in just five minutes. There was also a blonde woman, who I believe was the manager, who was always attentive and ready to assist everyone. I was thoroughly impressed, and I will definitely recommend this place to others! "We visited on the first high-time day and had specifically requested a quieter spot, as parents of two young children. Unfortunately, even though our table was set, we were seated next to a noisy table of four, making it difficult to have a conversation without competing with their volume. The complimentary glass of bubbles was a nice touch, and we appreciate that gesture. The food was enjoyable, but we felt rushed, with hardly any time to digest our starters before our main courses arrived. Given the higher prices associated with this dining experience, I expected a more leisurely pace, rather than the speed typical of a chain restaurant like Harvester."

"Avoid if possible. I saw 3 meals that had to return to the kitchen. And there were only about 10 tables occopied. I ordered hummus and pita and they gave a cut up wrap as the pita, without an apology or excuse. Humus came straight from a supermarket. My husband ordered spare ribs as a starter and they were below average. The lamb ravine my husband ordered was bland and I. Ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. There all sorts of random bits in my salad like 3 pieces of green beans, a few leaves of rocket. I think the chef does not care about cross contamination in the kitchen. Also the chicken was not grilled, just a cooked chicken (I suspect from the supermarket again). The best part of the meal was the bottle of water I ordered. For 75, go somewhere else if you can. You can also skip staying at the hotel. Very outdated rooms, wobbly mattresses, not worth the money."

"Food was nice we had small plates. Main downside is the tables are too close together so it's tricky getting in and out of tables and there's nowhere to put your coat/bag really. Tables are small so if you share small plates the whole thing's a bit precarious someone getting out of the table next to us knocked things on our table over no big deal and not their fault but restaurant could do to remove a few tables and add a bit of space. It's a big, cavernous space so ambiance and acoustics are not great. I'd say fine for a pre theatre meal but not a destination restaurant. Very slow getting the bill we had to ask 3 different people."
