"we booked hodgkinson on the basis of previous reviews and were not disappointed. a charming hotel that preserves many of its historical features. zoe was helpful throughout the entire owner/growth and eating was simple, healthy and well cooked. the restaurant is small but not crowded and there was a feeling of greeting rest. we hope for a return and stay next time in one of the rooms of the hotel, each individually decorated."

"We love the Pilgrims Restaurant, it's a little gem and the food is excellent. Jools came out of the kitchen to meet us and apologised for the slow service. We understand Jools is a brigade of one. if the service had been timely we would have given this super restaurant straight fives. We are fans but please would you consider getting Jools some help in the kitchen as we'd love to come back and see you, and enjoy more of your delicious food."

"Very quiet experience, almost like dining in a strangers dining room. You could easily hear other tables conversations which I didn’t enjoy and we felt as though we had to whisper. The background music was barely audible so could’ve done with turning up a notch. Food and wine was lovely and the service was great. Decor and layout of restaurant was stunning."
